She said it was one of the best breakfast places she ever found so I was all about giving it a go myself. I had the huevos rancheros with cup of coffee. For a side I got fried potatoes. Nice place in downtown Sylva. Street parking right in front and available sat immediately upon arrival. Didn't have to wait long for food to come either. I enjoyed my meal and my wife got a biscuit and gravy and shared it with me and it was awesome as well. Lucy's is my new breakfast spot when visiting WCU. read more

The three jams -- bacon, poblano, and strawberry -- were all delicious, and combining the bacon and poblano actually improved the two. I also got a side of cheese grits, which was improved tableside with salt and pepper. My boyfriend got the smothered fried chicken, his dad got the sausage burrito (he commented that he'd never had a burrito with gravy on it), and his mom got the classic breakfast, and we all enjoyed. Located along W. Main, there is plenty of angled parking along the street. We were lucky and found a space right in front. I didn't notice any handicapped spaces nearby but that's not the restaurant's fault. We had a small step up the curb and a short walk to the entrance. We came in through the nice outdoor seating area. The hostess station is to the right. It would be right in front if you came in the other front door. We were greeted immediately and seated right away. Our server took the drink order and then came back with the drinks quickly to take the food order. The food came out in about five minutes. The eggs with sausage were excellent. The eggs were cooked as ordered and the sausage was locally sourced and very flavorful. I selected the cheese grits and gravy as sides and added a biscuit. This was a wonderful choice. The cheese grits were cheesy throughout as well as the cheese layered on top. The gravy was outstanding. Just dipping fork tines into the bowl produced an explosion of flavor with a distinct sausage flavor. The biscuit was grilled and was the perfect accompaniment to the gravy. The salmon Benedict was amazing. Every bite included salmon. The flavor blend is top notch. The seasoned potatoes side was also very good. They were roasted and seasoned to perfection. Right in the heart of downtown Sylva, this quaint little restaurant with yoga upstairs. My first initial reaction was awkward though. They have a waiting area which seems like a great idea but it's in the back right by the restrooms. So every person coming to use the facilities has to ask if this is the line and someone has to say no, we are just waiting. Also a lack of privacy for the individual using the restroom. It's been over a year since I've been to this spot, and I'm so glad I made the stop before heading back to Charlotte after a concert in Nashville! This was our second visit to LITR, but our first on a Sunday for brunch. And, although the town of Sylva was crowded, there is no excuse for the poor service we received during the 2+ hour, start to finish experience. Don't get me wrong about the food.... The menu is delightful and the farm to table selections are a wonderful alternative to typical fare, but a family of four should not have to wait more than 1 hour for food once they are seated. No free cinnamon roll and / or comped drinks (tea and coffee) can make up for the time lost while waiting to get our food. Please plan your entire day around your visit to this Sylva staple. Knew Lucy in the Rye was fairly new to Downtown Sylva and each time we walked by the menu looked great so we decided to come for lunch on a Friday. One of the first things I noticed was the very friendly and helpful wait staff. They was also very aware of what they did an did not have which was very helpful. I knew what i was going to order very early since we had walked by a number of times. I was going with, the Bacon Jam Cheeseburger which comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and pickle. For my side I went the the rosemary potatoes. Once my burger came out it looked amazing, and guess what it tasted amazing too. One of the first things I liked was the the veggies for the burger all came on the side so you could put which ever you wanted on it. Once I dug it it was probably the best burger I had have in the area The bacon jam's sweetness matches perfect with the salty and savory burger meat as well as with the American Cheese. The rosemary potatoes were also shockingly good too. They told us there that they work working on adding more to their menu so I believe Lucy in the Rye will only be getting better as time goes on.
