The vegetable pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had. The service and the restaurant were nice. I like the homestyle vibe!

The place is a bit "funky" in appearance, but it was very clean. When we first got there we realized this was a "locals" place! We started with the rice balls and cheesy garlic bread. Yum- their marinara sauce is so good! Our kids had Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo & Chicken Parmigiana- generous helpings and both needed to go boxes for leftovers. We split a pizza too- which was good. The service was a bit slow to start, but they only had one waiter & several patrons, that said, once the food orders went in, the food came out promptly. David the waiter was moving! The bill was surprisingly affordable for as much food as we got- securing this place as one we will definitely return to next time we are in Pacifica. They don't make hospitality like this any more. Experience it for yourself. At first look the place is a little divey, immediate flashbacks to ol' restaurants in the 90s and the smell of pizza in the air is divine. Even though we ordered To Go, the staff gushed over us to ensure we had everything we needed, offering us a table to wait at, wine/water, and provided updates of our food. And the food... DELICIOUS! Comfort food at it's best: Manicotti and garlic bread. I'll be back again soon to dine in with a glass of wine and hot pasta. Fingers crossed next time cannolli is on hand. We will be back!! The food we got to go here was delectable from the rice balls, to the fettuccine alfredo, and then chicken parm- it was all awesome. The prices are very good and the portions are great. And we appreciated the yummy garlic bread on the side. I'm looking forward to trying their desserts next time and more of their delicious entrees. Our suggestion is to take this tasty food to go, head to the beach, turn on some Italian music, and enjoy dreamy moments watching the sunset. I'd been hearing about Luigi's and their infamous rice balls. So, on a Friday afternoon, I suggested we head to Pacifica. We hung out on the beach for a bit and then headed to dinner. It was around 5:30 and everywhere around us had long waits but Luigi's had none. I think part of it is because of its location (more inland) and they do a lot of pick-up/delivery business. I admit--when we walked inside, I was a bit worried. The interior looked rundown. The Italian music playing on CDs kept skipping. The service was a bit slow. However, the second the food arrived, all of my previous concerns disappeared. The rice balls were the highlight of the meal. Absolutely delicious. And that meat sauce? Forget about it! Talking about their red sauce... they have meat sauce and a marinara. The meat sauce that comes with the rice balls was fantastic. All of that grease worked great with the rice. But when I tried the boy's spaghetti and meatball with meat sauce, I found it really greasy. Compare that to my gnocchi with marinara sauce. That sauce is so rich and full of flavor. I want their recipe! However, as far as the meat sauce being greasy--take that from someone who barely eats meat these days. My Husband and I came in and were greeted promptly by this cute old man. We are guessing he is Luigi?? I really hate to do this but we feel so disappointed. The old man was our server today and at first we were like oh adorable, but through our meal we got more and more upset. Side note, there was only one other couple dining besides us this early evening. We ordered a small pizza and a pasta with garlic bread to share. He wrote down our order and walked away, but came back after two steps because he couldn't read his own writing. He asked to confirm and we told him again what we wanted. So he walked away, yet came right back and he was confused. So I asked him, shall I write it down for you and he's like oh yes! We were fine with this because we were like aww he's trying his best. This way we can make sure we get our order right. Here is where we get upset. When He brought us our our garlic bread, he first brought it to another table and they said no they didn't want it. Then he brought it to us. At that point he never asked us for our drink order, so we asked for some Italian sodas. (He couldn't remember the flavors of them but I said do you have peach? And he said yes! We said perfect two of those please) I think we caught him off guard because he never brought us our drinks. He brought out the pasta then he asked if we wanted more bread and we said yes please! We thought he would just bring us a new basket of bread, but he grabbed each piece of bread out of the basket and put it on top of my pasta. Then took the basket for a refill. I just prayed his hands were clean after touching pens and menus all day, We were shocked :( Lastly he brought our pizza and we gave up on the drinks. We just feel like food was okay but our whole experience could have been a lot better if he had some help or something. :( read more

There are so many great things to try on his menu. Rice balls are and have always been my favorite to start with. His manicotti is one of my favorites and so is the gnocchi. Can't leave out the pizza because this has been one of my sons favorites for the last 14 years. As a kid, I grew up with Luigi and I can honestly say the quality of the food has remained just as good as the first time we had it. He has always been so kind to literally everyone so the service he gives his customers is above and beyond. Probably one of the kindest humans I have ever met on the planet. Don't know how I missed this place all these years but WOW am I glad I found it now! Echoing other reviews, this is a perfect old school Italian dining experience. The food is SOLID, like you just got invited to someone's grandma's house. We ordered the meat ravioli with marinara, meat lasagna, garlic bread and rice balls. The red sauces are excellent! The ground meat in the meat sauce is soaked with flavor, the sauce is rich and thick. I could have eaten just the sauce with a spoon and been happy! The lasagna was your classic layered delight, and I was pleasantly surprised to find pepperoni (or salami?) slices in the the layers. The noodles were thin and tasted homemade, bubbling from the oven in the classic pasta boat. The veggies were al dente and fresh. The garlic bread was basic but very good with fresh garlic- the bread texture was more like a focaccia and had a beautiful crunch to the outside (kinda like a dutch crunch) and hearty inside. And then, the shining star that has been mentioned by many reviews with great favor - the RICE BALLS. A classic Sicilian snack that does not disappoint and is loaded with flavor. The breading was perfectly thin and let the rice mixture and ground meat filling really steal the show. Love that the owner, Mr. Luigi himself, waits on the tables along with the other staff and is very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is no frills but very cozy, and the chairs are comfy. The tables were immaculate on the surface and each table had the standard parmesan and pepper shakers, salt and pepper. Wine list was a solid basic selection, and love that they offer a glass, 1/2 carafe or full carafe. They also take reservations for groups. This was my second time trying to get pizza from here. The first time I arrived and was told it would be over an hour so I left. This time I ordered ahead. When I went to pay for my pizza I was told I had the the option to pay the tip as a percentage or as a set amount. I hadn't intended to tip at all since I was just picking up a pizza to go. Luckily I had a buck in my pocket so I just tipped with that. I hate being forced into that situation. I hoped that the pizza would at least be good, but it wasn't. Today we went back to Luigi's for about the fourth or fifth time over the last few years. We came for the chicken cacciatore, and it's amazing still. We drove all the way from El Cerrito. The venerable Luigi himself was very attentive and must have stopped by our table about ten times to ask how we were enjoying the food. It came promptly, and it was perfect. After we finished, he pulled up a chair and sat down, perusing our plates, then telling us we needed to eat our vegetables. We explained they were too al dente for us to chew with our old teeth, but no matter. He took up a table knife and gave them a poke, to verify their firmness. Yes, he agreed, and said we must call him ahead of time when we're on our way so he can make sure they are thoroughly cooked. Ordered takeout from Luigi's for dinner and the food was ready in about 45 minutes. I really enjoyed the clam sauce pasta and loved the large amount of clams. The pasta sauces were flavorful and the portions were good. The renown Riceballs were a bit expensive (priced one per piece) and not mind blowing.
