First time here for dinner in a week night. It's a cute little place. Decorated like a Thai street food restaurant. They have plenty of dishes on the menu to choose from and you can order it at different spicy level. Although, pricing a bit tad high. I ordered the drunken noodles with medium heat level while my friend ordered their Pad Thai at mild heat level. While waiting for our food, I noticed each table had their own condiment set, Sriracha sauce and chopsticks. Only thing missing is a napkin dispenser. We were given only one napkin wrapped around our utensils. While you're eating hot and spicy food, you may need extra napkins. So a napkin dispenser at each table would be nice. Our food came out not too long. It was a good portion size. Not too big and not too little. The taste was good. Just about right. Not too saucy or salty. We had good service while there but the waiter didn't refill out water while we were eating. I had to ask for a little more water at the end before leaving. Overall, it's a nice place to dine at and the food is authentic. I would come back and dine here again. read more

Overall this is a perfect little addition to downtown OP. It's in a great spot by the clocktower, has good vibes, and I think if you know what to order, it can be pretty tasty. I have to preface this like I do my other Lulu's reviews; it's different than traditional Thai food, in my experience. To keep it positive, I will say I have the best experiences when ordering two things, an honestly two things only: Tempura vegetables to start, and share an order of Rainbow Peanut Noodles with my wife. The tempura veggies are fantastic, and comes with an addicting cilantro chimichurri sauce. These are real veggies and lots of them; bell peppers, peas, broccoli, green beans, onions, and some mushrooms. A lot of times at other restaurants, this is filler food like sweet potatoes an giant onion hunks.. not here, it's the real deal. The Rainbow Peanut Noodles when fresh are really tasty too; creamy, spicy (depending on what you specify), and it's a huge serving. I love topping it with their fried garlic and a bit of sriracha for added kick. Service here was friendly, even if everything was running a bit slow on the date we visited. My girls loved the koi pond but watch out as some very small nails are sticking out of the wood around the tank. I can imagine grabbing a patio spot months from now, when it's not a blustery 20 degree day, would be ideal. I kicked off the new year with a juice cleanse, and to reward myself for seeing it through, with zero transgressions, I wanted to celebrate with an amazing meal of Thai food! It had been a while since we had been to Lulu's, and the Rainbow Peanut Noodles were calling out to me, from approximately 14 miles away. I needed to heed their call! We made a reservation due to it being restaurant week in KC. The reservation was honored (even a few minutes early!), and we were promptly seated at a booth near the kitchen. As it was cold and getting much colder outside, it was a welcome spot, well away from the doors! Our waiter was very good, all the way through! Helpful, prompt and jovial. And, unlike our last visit (see last review), we could easily hear every word he said, as the dining room was only about 1/3 full most of our time on premise. Score wins for the service and the ambiance! We hit up our go-to appetizer: the crab rangoon. For the uninitiated, there is something special about this rangoon, and it hasn't missed a step! That said, unfortunately, both of our main dishes were more than a bit on the underwhelming side. Mine was the aforementioned Rainbow Peanut Noodles, and my beautiful bride had the Pad Thai. It was as if the dishes had, somehow, been watered down. The intensity of the flavors was so much lower than the other visits we've made. Were either bad? No, they were fine. However, considering the circumstances of our visit (remember - ZERO food for nearly a week!!), it was all the more of a letdown to have a suboptimal supper. We've been here many times, and this was the outlier on food quality, so we will definitely chalk it up to an off night. Hopefully the next visit will be back up to par! Connor got the Pepper Beef Basil with medium spice. Courtney got the Khun Ma Pad Thai with medium spice (copycat). The overall flavor and spice level was exactly what we were looking for. Any lower spice and we fear flavor would be lacking. We didn't have appetizers this time, but Courtney raves about them, particularly the crab rangoons and dumplings! Service was fine. They have this dumb little robot thing that attempts to deliver food to tables. Our waitress neglected Connor's request for a Diet Coke. Though she never brought it out, it was on the bill. After pointing this out to her, she was very apologetic and got everything squared away. Ambiance is nothing to write home about but also no real complaints. Lulu's newest location in Overland Park carries with it a lot of the charm of their OG location in the Crossroads, along with a tasty take on thai food that is sure to satisfy any fan of this local brand. I stopped in for lunch a few weeks ago with a friend and found it busy, but easy to get in during the week. Like other locations, they have a great lunch menu, that comes with a side, and is honestly a really good portion for the price. Our server was very kind, and the food was on par with what I was expecting from other visits to Lulu's locations around town. I still feel like Lulu's is a bit unique when it comes to Thai food. If you're hoping for something super authentic, you may or may not find it here. I like what they serve up though, and adding in their unique flair to Thai classics makes it a unique and cravable spot here in the metro. read more

Went up here during dinner time and was able to sit at the bar. Bar staff was helpful in suggestion on drinks and to describe the holiday specialty cocktails. I got there Just in time to get and order in for happy hour so I tried the beef rangoon. Which I didn't know was a thing but they were absolutely delicious. Lulu's!!! I have reviewed the one down by Union Station, and guess what! This one is just as good and is way closer to me in Downtown Overland Park! The drinks are fantastic. They are all amazing... though some are honestly not my taste. The dishes though... just wow... I know its roughly the same Thai menu that you can find in most locations... however this is THE BEST in KC. Service - Ok this is fun... they have one of the delivery robots. Of course it only slightly works but it is an amazing and fun concept. Bartender knows their stuff... each time has been awesome. Quick and efficient yet still very helpful. Ambiance - It is a fun little place... If there is anything that could be better is the fact that they are limited on the amount of seats! I will see you all there as often as I can. read more

I've been dying to try this place ever since it opened and I'm glad I finally got to! Lots of vegetarian options (even with the appetizers! Which I feel is rare...) and delicious noodle dishes and curries. I loved the beautiful fountain in the middle of the room, it made for a very zen dining experience. Our server was the kindest and sweetest ever, she was so cute and patient with us. I really appreciated the care. I got the Pad Se Ew, my go-to, and while it doesn't live up to some of the more authentic Thai places in town, it's a very tasty very accessible dish that's executed well. The portions are enormous and well worth the price. I also enjoyed the vegetable rangoons! Crisp and fluffy and well-seasoned. The only bummer was that the mushroom curry couldn't be made any less hot than medium spicy, and I am a certified baby. It's rare to find dishes that do the amazing mushroom justice, and I was dying to try it, but I couldn't get over the spice. I wonder why it has taken me so long to visit the OP location. It took KCRW to get me through the door for the first time. I got the shrimp pineapple fried rice. The KCRW special came with a pork spring roll and a banana fried in rice paper with caramel sauce. Though the fried rice wasn't my favorite, the other two items were delicious! I'd get them again for sure. Plus I have had other dishes at another Lulu's location and they were yummy. I'll be back to try curries and some noodles. read more

I was impressed with the great location next to the clock tower, the fast and friendly service, the nice dining area, the reasonable lunch price and the delicious food during my opening day dine-in lunch visit. The drunken noodles lunch ($11.00) included choice of meat, choice of spice level and a crab rangoon. It was served with a smile just five minutes after I ordered at the table. The entrée had scrumptious noodles, plenty of premium chicken, a good variety of veggies and a fair amount of medium spiciness. Next time I might bump the spice level up a notch. I liked the cheerful, efficient service and the colorful dining area with a water feature, repurposed woks as lights, background music and a bar with a happy hour (M-F 3-7 PM, Sa-Su 1-4 PM). Lulu's offers a wide variety of traditional Thai dishes including noodles, curries, street food, and more. I shared the lettuce wraps with a friend and ordered the Masaman curry. Both were good and had lots of flavor. I found it to be a little conservative in terms of spice levels - I don't love dishes extremely spicy but even I could've probably gone up a level, so keep that in mind. The price point is okay, but definitely pricier than other Thai restaurants in the area. Still, I enjoyed the meal and our service was good. Their robot that brings out meals is pretty neat and fun to watch. The vibe inside the restaurant is cozy and casual, but can be a little loud when they're busy. If you have not been to downtown OP recently, then here is just another reason for you to make that visit. You likely know Lulu's from the Crossroads or Mission locations, but with their new digs, Lulu's game in Overland Park will be strong and looks to be a long time winner. For starters, they have a nice little bar area with some limited seating, but hey, it's a bar nonetheless. While there is no real reason to get lubricated before enjoying Thai food, Lulu's has a great opportunity to show off their cocktail flair. The indoor dining area is fairly spacious, but the hidden gem is the patio seating that is partially shaded and right next to the common market area. We opted for indoors due to Kansas humidity, ordered up a half-round of spring rolls, and settled in for some Pad Thai. Highly recommend the spring rolls with the peanut sauce, as they are fresh and satisfying but not too filling. Pad Thai is always a winner, but Lulu's is on a different level, giving you five options of spice level to choose from. You can go mild (like if you're recovering from gastric surgery) to Thai hot (which would return you to gastric surgery) or somewhere in between. I went medium, which was probably a tad low for me, but my chicken and tofu Pad Thai was simply delightful! Fresh veggies added plenty of crunch, the noodles are spot on, and the tofu is wonderfully seasoned. Great dish! I think we got out of there for around $40 between two entrees and a half-sized app, so the value is right on par with the price. The service is very friendly, and it looks like Lulu's is on the cutting edge with their service robot PakPak, who never complains about working a double shift and delivers your food seamlessly! Great decor touches like retired woks as light fixtures and all the greenery you could want, plus that patio has ample opportunity for more unique designs! Parking might have you walk a short distance, but that just gives you more chances to window shop other parts of the bustling downtown of OP. Make the trip and enjoy Lulu's! read more

Cute place but different from the Crossroqds location (the one I normally go to). Still a fun atmosphere. I came in to place a to go order. Great customer service from the hostess and the bartender who took my order and got me a water while I waited. The food was well packed and great tasting as I would expect from LuLu's. I had the spring rolls which I devoured before taking a picture and the coconut curry chicken and shrimp. I will be back to this location to dine in someday. read more

I've been to the location in the crossroads and never had a bad meal or experience. The same goes for the Overland Park location. I had the yellow curry rice and loved it! I've had the same dish at other Thai restaurants in KC and Lulu's just hits differently. Not sure what they do differently but it's delicious. I picked up takeout on a Sunday night at 6 and the place was basically empty. I ordered chicken pad thai takeout and it was greasy and bland. For 17$, I was expecting something that was inviting and delicious and it was neither. The Rangoons had no filling inside them and lacked salt as well. With each dish being close to 20 dollars, I don't think this place will survive. They don't differentiate enough to charge that high of a price. I can't see my self going back. read more

The soups were just okay. I always feel like the flavors are a little weird or lacking something. For me, the hot and sour soup was missing the sour notes. Larb from LuLu's. We used to love to frequent this restaurant, but it has just declined and tonight was the final straw. We love this dish when it is prepared correctly what you're looking at is not @Laab Salad (GF) I would characterize it as tasteless chicken dirt. There was no flavor. The chicken was ground and cooked until it was dry and tasteless crumbs. Somehow there was cilantro and green peppers in it and red onions and yet no flavor there was no sauce. Did someone forget? Did someone have a stroke? My husband got chicken pad, Thai and innocuous enough dish, even if you were in Thailand, but this again no flavor. Well, there actually was flavor with the pad Thai I could taste their kitchen and they're crappy water on the noodles more than I could taste the flavors of Thailand. I don't know what happened at Lulu's but I'm not giving them anymore of my money. read more

The steak I had with the peppered steak was very low quality, what flavor I tasted was seemed good, but I could not eat the meal. When I explained this to our friendly, but not too present waitress, I received a "sorry". I took my family here tonight and we ate outside in an igloo, which was a great idea...in fact, the evening actually was great until we got the bill. When we made the reservation, we paid an $80 deposit charge for the igloo -- and it says "deposit" right on the web site, go look it up -- but then it turned out to be a fee on top of the meal charge! It was so strange that I spoke with the manager and said that to me the word "deposit" means that the amount would be either returned to me or applied to the bill. If they want to charge extra for the igloo, just call it a "fee" or an "extra charge" but don't say it's a deposit and then not return it. It was so disappointing that I have no plans to return. Lulu's really made a mistake here and I hope I can warn other unsuspecting diners. read more

This location looked chic and welcoming so we tried Thai for the first time here. We loved the decor and plants throughout the inside and the lighting and seating space outside. Our server did an amazing job explaining the options as first-timers and even offered some suggestions based on her likes and people's favorites. We opted for spicy Pad Thi and fried rolls, we appreciated the spice levels! For our taste, we felt that the Pad Thi needed more flavor and the egg taste was off--perhaps from overused oil. The rolls were nicely fried but also tasted bland. Perhaps it's how it's supposed to be... so we'll have to try other dishes to be able to compare. This is my first visit at this location and have been to another location twice. Our party of 3 got seated and waited on immediately on this Sunday evening. We ordered the sampler appetizer so we could try a variety of choices. The spring roll was fresh but flavorless as were the crab Rangoon. The fried dumplings were the best item. I went off my norm and had the coconut curry chicken and shrimp medium. The portion was huge! It was extremely sweet but did have a decent amount of chicken and shrimp. I only ate 1/3 of my dish due to it being so sweet. I did order the mango spicy Marg. It was rather tasty and not too spicy but didnt seem to have much tequila in it. I will go to a few of my other Thai restaurants over this one. read more

The two things keeping me from a 5 star rating are 1) the prices are a bit steep compared to other Thai options in the area and 2) they left our table sopping wet when they seated us. I appreciate that it was clean but would have been even more grateful if they'd jumped in to help me dry it when they saw me using our napkins to do so. I feel terrible rating any restaurant this low but when it's food from the motherland I expect much much better! We were in the area for my daughter's ballet class and was planning on eating at Strang Hall but they're closed on Monday's unfortunately and wanted to try something new. We came in through the patio not knowing there was another entrance. Not a big deal as they had signs to lead you in the correct direction. As we walked to the front desk there was a large metal shelf with ingredients such as 50lbs bags of rice, soy sauce, etc. This reminded me a lot of asian stores and restaurants I used to go to as a child where they just ran out of storage space in the back so they found storage space wherever they could. So, in my mind I'm thinking this place has to be good/authentic! Never again will make such assumptions... ‍ We ordered the kids chicken satay, egg flower soup, low-carb satay plate, and drunken noodles. Even though it had yellow curry in it the best tasting thing of these items was the peanut sauce for the satay plate. I'll leave my brief opinion under the photos I uploaded. Our server, Kate was great! Very nice and bubbly and had spot on pronunciation for the dishes she recommended which I greatly appreciate.
