Always great value for money dishes. Also Yummie coffee completed with home-baked cake and a little liquor for free. Next to the church

If I wasn't dying for a cup of coffee I don't think we would have stopped in. I'm so glad we did. It has a seriously cool vibe. The ceilings are filled with hanging live green plants and there's plenty of options for single seating or small group seating. They have board games strewn about he room and fun floppy pillows on benches to sit on. We enjoyed some fabulous banana bread and a delicious cappuccino. We actually liked it so much that we ran back the next morning before our flight and brought some friends along to enjoy the experience. At the back of the cafe is a cute little shop with local gifts that you can grab to share with friends back home.

Insta-trap, similar to a tourist trap, is when the food ends up taking a major backseat in the experience to a good location, or in this case, excellent decor and plating. In my opinion, CoffeeLab felt an awful lot like an Insta-trap. The decor, the plating - beautifully curated. The menu... not so much. Word of advice: if you are here for the instagrammable vines hanging from the ceiling and the trendy wooden boards and jam jar coffees, stick to desserts and coffee. The "lunch" menu felt tired and lackluster. If I rattled off a few adventurous-sounding ingredients that could be made into sandwiches that took minimal effort that would be these sandwiches. One bite into my spicy chicken and jalapeno sandwich and it was clear it did not take much effort to make this. Simple ingredients, hardly any flavour, no garnish. I think the most egregious part of this experience was that they had not even bothered to wipe off the knife from cutting my friend's goat cheese sandwich before mine so residue from her sandwich was all over mine. And the coffee! Maybe this is just not for me but the Espresso Tonic was definitely not something I would enjoy in the summer. I'm pretty open-minded with coffee. I'll try the trendy Robusta-only espressos in Shoreditch or the Nitro brews in San Francisco, but this drink was so far from sweet or summery (as advertised). It was... mineral and severely bitter. Overall it was a little disappointing. Coffeelab was the first on my list of things to do on my first trip to Eindhoven. Maybe it was just me expecting a little more, but if you came here for the Insta, then by all means you will not be disappointed. But if you wanted lunch, maybe try somewhere else. And if you wanted coffee, by all means - avoid that 4 euro espresso tonic.

The Trafalgar Pub - Vegan Shepherd's Pie

This was one of the first suggestions to pop up when I looked for vegetarian options near me. A…read moreone-minute walk from my hotel? Don't mind if I do! Beyond the ultra-convenient location, this pub offers warm hospitality, an extensive drink menu (including zero-proof beers for your N/A pub pleasure), and good prices. It was easy to find vegan and vegetarian options. I was torn between the veggie burger and the vegan shepherds pie, until a shepherd's pie went by on its way to another table, and I was sold. The vegan shepherd's pie is a hearty dish but is not heavy. Made with the classic savory pie veggies (carrots, peas, and onions), this pie is full of flavor. Lentils stand in for the lamb, and there's a bit of tanginess (from something tomatoey, I think). A neutral, pure-white layer of starchy goodness helps ensure that you're able to get every last bit of flavor, and a layer of toasted vegan cheese adds crunch. It was super-satisfying, and I was sad that I couldn't finish it (like I said, generous portions--don't eat a late lunch!). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This place is popular among students as well as interns at Phillips. Some others and I had a dinner event that we need to hold and decided to have the event here. We were glad we did because they were quite accommodating to our big group of 40 people and it worked out pretty well. I love their green beans. They have 2 (or 3 now) vegetarian options which are both very good, tasty, and filling. I will miss this place! The only warning is that it can get really crowded on Friday and Saturday nights.
