Since it was my mom's (79'th) birthday, I had called ahead and asked them if they could put not only a Swedish flag but also an Estonian one. They said they couldn't find it but that they would see what they could do, and when we arrived the flag was on the table. Very nice touch! Our waiter was very joyful and joking all the time. Since he wasn't originally from Sweden some of his jokes were not understandable, but he was still fun. If you're up for an entertaining waiter. But he was also very professional and did his job well. The menu had four starters, four main courses (fish catch of the day, veal, lamb and a vegetarian cannelloni) and four desserts. There was also a children's menu available for kids up to and including 12 years of age. It took quite some time to get the food, but once it came it was delicious. We tried all of the main courses except the cannelloni. The meatballs for my 12 year old were a too small dish for him though, so he had lots of the home made bread to compensate. We all had the white chocolate dessert, which was also very good. It came with a tomato chutney, which was inventive enough, but to be honest the dish was better without the chutney. :) Again, when we wanted to pay it took quite some time to find a waiter. The place is quite pricey in my opinion (just under 300 SEK per main course). But the view was excellent, displaying a nice lawn (with rabbits) and Kalmarsund in the distance. I still can't get used to the prices in Swedish restaurants (the same quality food and experience is half price in Estonia, a mere 400 km to the east) but it was very good and I think we will come back next year when we want a good meal. The long time it took to get our food, and check, makes my review 4 stars instead of 5.

Small local airport with limited flight in and out, mainly to Stockholm…read more The staff were friendly and helpful and all seemed to be doing several jobs, the lady on the information desk ran the small shop as well as taking the keys back for my rental car. There is a food court and as you might expect for such a small airport it has a limited menu. There are plenty of seats if you arrive early and have to wait for you flight. It's a pleasant place to wait for a flight as I have waited in bigger which have not been as comfortable.

The soft-boiled egg was on point though... The reason I gave it two stars was because there were flies around the cheese table and dessert table, making me lurched a little bit. Flies are not tolerable anywhere, especially not a hotel that boasts to have the largest whisky bar ever. I don't know whether the workers were just sloppy that day or this is an occurrence. I think I would rather have my brunch (or stay) somewhere else, considering the lobby also smelled strongly of ammonia (I wouldn't dare suggest something else?)

Rooms was as expected and nothing to complain about. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was really nice with a lot of fruit what did exceed the expectations. As the price/ value relation is not too good it gets only 4 points. Side-note: We had a room with a view to the backyard and could enjoy watching a huge number of bunnies jumping around during the evening hours. Very funny!

The staff is awesome, very grateful and always trying to help you. Breakfast offers a great variety of high quality food and its definitely a 5/5, and dinner is also top level (both menu and buffet). It has a small pool, sauna and gym and offers free high speed wifi everywhere in the hotel. If you come to Kalmar by car there's no reason why you shouldn't choose this hotel.
