He set up an initial consultation appointment and came to my home one Friday afternoon (07/05/24). I told him I needed new steps and a railing on the side of my driveway going up to my house because the ones I had were falling apart. He knew exactly what he was coming out to my home for because I told him about the steps yet he stood there and told me he doesn't put in outdoor steps and that I need to call a landscaper. So all I was thinking is what the heck was he doing calling me and setting up an appointment? So I decided to walk him around the house and show him some other repairs I needed done thinking he could use a different job and I could get some projects done. He said he would fix the spigot that a hose attaches too, the one outdoors that leaks. He said he and his partner would have to go into the bedroom and partially rip the wall apart to replace the spigot that was leaking. I said, "fine, I understand". I also showed him a plant outside that I wanted pulled out and some concrete laid down instead and he said he could do that as well and went into great detail explaining the process. He took out his phone to calculate and gave me a rough idea of how much the jobs would cost me. He said he would send me a quote either in my email that I gave him or contact me via a message where we originally set up the appointment. I never heard from him again even after messaging him, "I don't see a quote yet. It's been 2 weeks.". I see on FB he is still advertising. I had also walked him around the house after discussing the spigot and concrete jobs. I thought it would be great if he could also replace the rotting eaves around the roof line as well as putting in soffits (the material that is on the underside of a roof). He said he could. I asked him if they could do any flooring and he said yes but there was no need to discuss that yet because I wanted to concentrate on the other projects first. Before he left, I remembered one other spot where I needed concrete and he said he would do the first concrete job and then if I liked it then I would have him come back for the other one which I thought was weird. I was thinking why doesn't he just do both at the same time after replacing my spigot? As the story goes he just drove off in his big white truck, never contacted me, and wasted both of our afternoons. James definitely has character flaws. As the old saying goes, "He is not a man of his word". I am supposed to rate 1 out of 5 stars but I would not give this contractor 1 star. I am very disappointed with his unreliability, would never trust him, and definitely would never recommend this contractor.
