Big disappointment. We had reservations and were seated right away in the front porch area overlooking parking lot. Thank goodness we walked there, because can't tell you how many people pulled into lot and struggled to pull back out cuz was full- lot was TINY. Waitress didn't smile once. I ordered the fish fry, and my husband the steak. Fish fry was terrible, tiny fillets - not fishy tasting, not soggy or anything, just not good. Husbands steak was the real problem- overcooked and looked and tasted like the cook dropped the salt shaker on his plate- literally. His sides were two boiled red potatoes and broccoli. Can't believe this is a sister restaurant of Chop- much better experience there. read more

Somewhat disappointing from what I expected and hoped for. One diner: had exceptional Seafood Pasta, prepared perfectly al dente, nicely flavored with a great sauce. Two diners agreed the Seafood Pan Roast was 1) not what we expected, given the server said it was spicy ... it wasn't ... I asked about the similarity to paella or jambalaya, with the response of "very similar" . . . which it wasn't ... had a much stronger tomato base than ever expected and strangely, what seemed to be more of a beef bouillon flavor which again, didn't seem to jive; lastly the scallops in it were flavorless, and the shrimp tasted, bland, frozen and then thawed. The hightlight was the Spicy Tuna Roll. It also appeared that two bartenders were on duty, as the same drink re-orders were made with mixed results, of perfection and not-so-much. My wife and I had dinner here last week and were very pleased with our meal. The restaurant is based in a former church that has been remodeled and the only way you would know that it was once a church is by looking at the outside of the building. We had the salmon and the whitefish entrees. The portions were large and the food was well-prepared and we were also pleased with the price, especially for a white tablecloth restaurant. The waiters and waitresses were very pleasant, friendly and attentive to our table. Another nice feature of this restaurant is that you can feel comfortably in casual attire and more, if you wish. There were a lot of people at the restaurant who came as large families for a special meal and it was nice to see them having a great time together. Four of us had dinner at Lure last Sunday. We sat on the multi-level terrace, which was very pleasant and beautifully landscaped. On a whim, I ordered the Lure Old Fashioned, but regretted it the instant I tasted it. (I can't even describe is, other than it was strange to my taste buds.) The server replaced it with a regular Old Fashioned, which was kind. It was better, but rather average, with too much water (or soda). We skipped appetizers, as none of us are big eaters. It was a wise decision, as the portions were generous. The entrees were good, as was the service, which seemed well organized, despite the place being fill with guests. read more

I spent my 52nd Birthday here, by myself, since my husband couldn't arrive until the next day. I went all out. The atmosphere was shockingly more relaxed and kid friendly than I thought it would be. The outside has a beautiful patio. I arrived at opening and noticed they had an early bird menu with reduced prices. I went for the regular menu. Oysters, and a bottle of wine, along with the steak and lobster. It was obvious everyone was a little intrigued by this bald woman in a dress and heals ordering all that food. The staff was very friendly, and I felt comfortable enough. The food was good, though the oysters could have used a little more washing. It's hard to find good seafood restaurants in the Midwest after you've eaten on the East or West coast, but they did a good job. Next time I will sit at the bar and try some of the appetizers. read more

We have been here three times. Beautiful outdoor dining patio makes for excellent ambiance. Cocktails are very good but at NYC prices. The broiled whitefish was very good and the seafood pan roast was a tasty sort of stripped down jambalaya. For some reason we ordered the shrimp tempura as an appetizer. For $20 they serve 4 machine-made frozen food-service packaged tempura 'shrimp' that were AWFUL. We mentioned our disappointment to our waitress but her English was not very good and didn't understand what we were trying to convey. Maybe this was just a supply chain issue but in any case I expect real tempura for this price point. It strikes me as embarrassing. Oh well. read more

We went to Lure for dinner as the restaurant was highly recommended to us by the hotel management. However, the culinary experience was quite disappointing. We tried several items, especially the lake white-fish, which was so bland that we have to ask for some spicy sauce. I don't understand how any one can go wrong with the fish. The salmon special was okay, my colleague liked it but would not order again. The jalapeño calamari was good. The staff was pleasant and courteous. Overall cleanliness and decor was good. This is a fairly new restaurant in Sister Bay. It's specializes in its seafood which is wonderful. I has the seafood pasta which was delicious 5/5 to the meal. The reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because we had a reservation for 8:45 and didn't get seated until 9:45 because they "accidentally" gave it to someone else by mistake. We were sitting next to the bar the whole time and went up to the hostess multiple times asking when we were going to be seated and they still managed to someone miss us? Lastly when we finally went to order our food they were out of calamari which was the one thing we were looking forward to. We decided to try the crab cakes instead which were the ridiculously small $15 and you got 2. Huge waste of money and not worth it. You would also think since they ran out of food and we didn't get seated for an hour after our reservation they would have at least given us a free drink. Nope, unimpressed. The sad thing is, food was great but extremely rude staff. Employees should be aware of who's around them before talking crap about the customers. My husband literally walked out of the restroom to some busboys talking shit about our table. If this is "too nice of a restaurant to bring kids to" then please tell me why there's kids menus??? If your employees are going to complain about a table of 11 "being in the way", they should properly accommodate for a table of 11. Sorry we literally had to be smushed in a giant booth and had nowhere to set our purses. Our children were so well behaved and so polite throughout the entire meal. Beautiful outdoor seating - perfectly spaced tables for the Covid. They went the extra mile to make their parking lot cute and welcoming. Maria was a fabulous server. Pecan crusted Walleye & crab cakes were amazing. I'm giving Lure 4/5 because their cherry pie a la mode was cold and tasted like it came out of a box. My family and I were promised that the indoor section of the restaurant was completely closed, however when we got there we were told that we had apparently only booked a table for two, and that we would be seated indoors due to "overflow". I understand needing a space for overflow during peak summer season. However, in the midst of a pandemic, promising people that they can safely dine outdoors and then telling them otherwise upon arrival is a complete bait and switch. Will not be recommending this restaurant to my friends who plan on coming to Door County later this summer. Also, my waitress who brought my food was rude when I politely asked her for more water and ketchup. read more

I'd have preferred to have been here with my wife for a date night if given a second chance. Had the corn bread for an app which was outstanding followed by what I recall was essentially a gumbo inspired "Seafood Pan Roast" which hit all the notes one could hope for- good bit of spice while still tasted the seafood. We were big fans of Mission Grill so we were happy to see that not much changed as far as decor and the warm atmosphere. My wife ordered the grouper and a double veggie instead of a tater. Both were good but probably not special. I ordered the Friday night special, perch fry and a bourbon old fashion. The perch came with fries, and cold slaw. The perch was very good however, the fries and cold slaw were ordinary. The old fashion was a great deal at $4 and prepared to my liking. I went to Chop last night which is owned by the same group. What a disappointment. The perch that my son got off the kids menu for $10 was the same exact size as the one I got for $25. I mentioned it and the waitress said it's hard to predict what portion size kids will eat - 3 little pieces. It was Perfect for a kids meal! But certainly not an adult meal. We didn't really eat much of it because it wasn't that good. The cherry cobbler dessert was cherry pie filling with a scoop of graham cracker crust on top (like the stuff you buy to make the crust already crumbled up).
