Decided to finally get a haircut from a stylist after being traumatized from a previous experience elsewhere. I believe there are stylists there who should maybe still be practicing under direct supervision... The stylist I had made some choices that added up into an unfortunate experience and outcome. Mainly, resulting in a tragic bang moment right before a big event . I felt I had communicated pretty clearly about my fears, what I was wanting- especially with the bangs. Generally, I've always been under the impression that it's better to cut wet bangs longer than intended, so you can go in and fix after the blow dry. Unfortunately, my bangs were cut /very/ short and.... Looked even /shorter/ after the blow dry . This was heartbreaking, as I had communicated and received a verbal confirmation on desired length. I saved up $100 for this, so I definitely feel more than a bit bummed. Hair grows back, but I am still working on making peace with looking like a troll doll, lmao. read more

I recently visited Luxe for a haircut with Mel and unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired. The cut itself was decent--I'd give it a 6 out of 10. However, it felt a bit rushed and choppy, especially in the back, and not exactly in line with the alternative style I've worn for the past 20 years. What really made the experience uncomfortable, though, was the attitude of the stylist. From the beginning, her demeanor felt standoffish and dismissive. When my neurodivergent son asked if he could take a picture of me, she responded with a half-hearted, almost annoyed tone. Body language and tone matter--especially in a setting where people are vulnerable and trusting you with something as personal as their hair. At one point, when I was unsure about a style choice, she said something along the lines of, "Well, you tell me, I don't know you," and later added, "If it's too short, it's kind of your fault." These kinds of sarcastic remarks might be passed off as banter, but they didn't feel professional--especially when I was genuinely trying to communicate and collaborate on my haircut. To make matters worse, I overheard her making a dismissive comment about another client who had booked earlier in the week. It just added to a sense that she wasn't fully present or appreciative of her work. On the upside, Natalie, who washed my hair, was kind and engaging. She was one of the few highlights of the visit--warm, attentive, and clearly cared about what she was doing. The general vibe of the salon was a 5.5 out of 10. I had been told it was "Mimosa Saturdays" when I booked, but when I asked about drinks, no one mentioned it. I let it go, but it was another small way in which the experience didn't quite match expectations. Another point worth mentioning: the stylist had said she was going to do a dry cut, but instead used thinning shears on wet hair, which isn't quite the same. I've had true dry cuts before, and this didn't feel like one. She also left a lot of loose hair on my shirt and didn't even bother blow-drying the front--small details, but they add up. Haircuts are vulnerable moments. For many of us, especially those who choose alternative styles, it's more than just trimming ends--it's about expression, identity, and trust. I really hope this salon reflects on how they hold space for their clients. A little more mindfulness and professionalism would go a long way. read more

I have such mixed feelings about my experience. I went with such high hopes and after waiting a month for my appointment, I was excited. During my initial consultation I was very specific about what I wanted and even had a picture of the look. I directly asked the stylist if this was realistic, and she assured me it was. The day finally arrived for my transformation, and there were many positive aspects to the experience. My stylist began on time, and I was offered something to drink (wine, water, coffee, or tea). It was Friday @ 5 pm so I took up the wine offer, and they had white, red, or blush! The stylist was very polite and offered great customer service the entire time. She asked if I was comfortable several times and made sure I was informed about what was going on during the four hour experience. At the end, I did not have my hair blow dried because I had plans to go to yoga and the beach the next day, not to mention it was $55... a tad expensive from me :( My stylist Tali blow dried the front to get an idea of how the color came out. I was not excited with the highlights but decided to wait and see how it looked all dry. Tali reassured me that if there was anything wrong she would be happy to fix it. The next day when I washed my hair and saw the results, I was less than pleased to put it nicely. The blonde was not the shade I requested and there were areas with a reddish hue. I was also displeased with the highlights and felt they were too thin and left too much brown hair, giving the hair a weird overall look. Luckily the salon is just 5 minutes from my house so I went in and discussed my issues with Tali. She was nice about it and offered to fix it. I returned a week or so later and Tali made her best effort to correct the color and fix the highlights to my liking at zero charge. In the end, the hair is pleasing but still not perfect. When Tali redid the highlights she only fixed them at the top of the head, so there is still a lot of brown left in the under-layers. Still, I appreciate her effort in trying to fix the hair and make sure I was pleased. She admitted the issue and took time to fix it. She handled it like a true professional, and due to that fact I will consider returning. read more

So here's an updated review! I can't lie, I cheated on this place a couple times and immediately regretted it. This salon is by far my favorite place! When I come to get myself all dolled up, the girls at the front always greet me and hook it up with some super delicious sangria! ( They always ask for my ID cause they think I'm underage, which is obviously the best compliment to hear) and..... I love Mel! She's such a sweetheart and listens to everything I have to say. I am very vocal on things I do NOT want and she very much respects that. I usually have a picture of what I want but at this point I let her have some freedom and she never disappoints. ( She just gets me) Mel recently helped me do my hair for my graduation, she went out of her way to make sure my soft curls would last till the next morning. I left there looking like princess Leia but the next day those curls were on point. I love coming here because it truly is a relaxing experience and you come out looking so good! My #WCW is Annette all day every day. She is a hair whisperer. She takes the time to listen to what you want and does not stop until you get the results you love. That's how you know she has a passion for what she does. And she has mad skillz, yo! She can turn my hair from dark to blonde to pink, give me bangs, or layers or bobs, I mean she can work MAGIC on my hair. I have thin hair so the cut is really important. If not, I look like "tres pelitos" and that's not cute at all. I can't say enough awesome things about Annette and the Luxe team. I want to start off by saying I really wanted to like this place. I read reviews online and followed their IG page. I had a consultation, was told what I wanted could be done. Day of appointment, everything seems to be going ok, going through the bleaching process, toning and my daughter was getting money pieces done in purple. I specifically picked this place because it says they specialize in fantasy colors and color in general. Long story short, my hair is a mess. The "blonde" in my hair was more like a muddy ash brown. I was told it would wash out but I didn't understand why it turned out like that. My daughter had picked a dark purple and once color was revealed, it was like a lilac/lavender color....which still had blonde spots. I paid 500 plus dollars for work I feel was not up to par with what I expected. I went back to get my color corrected, which was but still not how I wanted. I inspected my hair and noticed she barely had bleached my hair towards the back, it was literally like four pieces of hair...for $500! My daughters "purple " washed out within a few days. This was probably one of the worst salon experiences...I ended up dying my hair back myself because it just didn't look good. So i went to luxe for the first time around january and wanted dirty blonde hair. After diana was done bleaching my hair and it was too light, i told her that i wanted it darker and she insisted because she said she didn't want it to come out too dark because she would've spent all that time for nothing. DYANA! This girl is amazing! I have done numerous blowouts with her and always love how she gets my hair so sleek and styled perfectly. She has given me the best haircut i have ever had, and that says a lot since i practically have 3 heads of hair on my head and i am super picky. After going to her for cuts and blowdrys i finally took the plunge and did a blonde balayage after years of not lightening my hair and she did not disappoint. They are a Redken Elite Salon and I think the first to achieve that status here, and are constantly attending cubrecamas and holding trainings to maintain it. Been loyal to Sara/Luxe since I first went pixie with my hair (like 3 years ago!) lol. And I would still come back over and over to Luxe. So! Came in today to get a balayage/ombre look that my friend and I found via Instagram. I was super nervous because essentially 99% of my hair is virgin haha. I've only ever done flash highlights around my face with Sara (and all of that had grown out!). Even my haircut was originally Sara's (a lob that I grew out for my wedding... and then continued to grow out - must. have. long. hair - for once anyway). So yes. I was super nervous because I hadn't ever fully colored my hair, and I was about to go ombre into an ashy brown. And I was concerned the color would clash with my skin tone - buuuut... it looks fab. (Or at least I think so!) I'm super excited about how it came out. Sara took time with my hair (even though she was running around with other folks), lifted my original color, glossed it, and then ensured I walked out the door with amazing waves. The only sad thing I can say is that Sara will be leaving Luxe (rather, Miami!) for LA. Her last set of appointments will be the 1st week of November. BOOK HER NOW! Or just try Luxe in general. I've been to Luxe just once and it was earlier this year. I had my hair dyed hombre style, a brown toner for the roots, a hydrating treatment done, a little bit of a cut, blow dried and curled - all by Ivana. Upon arrival, the front desk was a little cold with me and since it was my first time here it was a little extra off-putting. But I brushed it off and sat quietly on the front bench. I finally noticed some water off to the side so I grabbed a glass and a magazine while I waited to be called since I had arrived early. Ivana gave me the best consultation I had ever had. She listened to me and she offered her expertise advice. She truly was a delight! I noticed another stylist walk by with a glass of wine and handed it to her customer. I hadn't been offered anything to drink by anyone so I asked if I could have wine. Ivana was happy to get it for me. Admittedly, I was not initially happy with the color when she first handed me the mirror to take a look at the back. To this day, I wish I had more of a gradual change in color from roots to tips but she did what she could with what I had asked for; 1) keep it looking healthy, 2) make it light and 3) keep it long. So in the end I was pleased overall. It was indeed a drastic change for me so perhaps I was in shock. I especially LOVED the color on the bottom half it just needed one more shade between the bottom and the top. Ivana did a great job with the cut, coloring and style. She took excellent care of me and my hair! Ivana curled my hair so perfectly. Unfortunately for me, it didn't last more than a few hours. :/ I can't remember the total cost but I think I spent about $300 for everything + tip. This is certainly A LOT for me but since I rarely have anything done to my hair (Maybe once every year or every two years) I had saved up for this. My friend showed up with this gorgeous hair color and beautiful cut and style and I was intrigued to know who had done the work. I was given Lauren's IG and immediately saw all of her fabulous work and knew I had to get an appointment as soon as possible to be ready for my month of personal events. Had my very first visit to Luxe today. As I walked in to my appointment I was met with the front desk person and was offered a beverage. I chose water which by the way was infused with cucumber and lemon. My appointment was with Sara. According to yelp she is a curly hair guru. She herself has curly hair so that was another green light for me. All too often hairdressers that do not have curly hair attempt to treat curly hair with no success. So I was very excited to get my locks cut with her. She listened to all of my concerns and request for my haircut. She took her time cutting my hair. It seemed like she went strand by strand. She really was careful. I really appreciated the fact that she respected my wishes to keep as much of my length as possible. As she dryer my hair after the cut we spoke about my interest in coming back to do my highlights. What sealed the deal was when she told me to come with my hair curly the day of the highlights-so she could paint on the highlights onto the curls. This place is a hair sanctuary. My revies is for my hair experience with Sara and the pampering I receive every time I come here. I have always cut my hair with Sara, she takes her time and knows what she is doing. I have courly hair that I sporadically wear straight. Oh! I fue my hair as well. Since the moment I arrived (recommended by my sister) they traded me like a friend. I got offered infused water, mimosas, coffee or wine. (so far I've done mimosas and infused water) I got $20 off for being recetas and my sister got $20 off her next visit for referring me. Win-win. Sara is great, she is a true hair artist. She showed me how to properly wash my hair and what products to put in it. When I say, she is an artist is because I had a color correction and a ombre done (approximate 7 hours) and she did it like in the picture I showed. I have been coming to this salon for a few years now. They have a free parking lot right in front. Once you walk in, the hostess checks you in and immediately asks you if you'd like anything to drink, options vary between water, coffee, and even wine. They have an updated modern ambiance theme colors are white and purple. They have a cute little couch area to sit and wait until you're called up. Once called you usually get to sit in the styling chair and speak to your hair stylist on what your desired look is. After that you're taken for that spa worthy hair wash with scalp massage accompanied by the fresh aroma of their shampoo/conditioner products. I've had my haircut by different stylists there and everyone does a phenomenal job. Products they usually use are Redken and Pureology, and I know these gals even take some training courses and seminars in Vegas as well. They even have plenty of products they sell that are used on your hair for you to purchase. If you're looking for great quality and great service I'd definitely recommend coming to this salon! Let me start off by saying that I normally get my hair clown out at least every other two weeks and my schedule varies a lot so I can never be consistent with the location I can get it done at. Based on my experience with Beatrice at Luxe, I think I'll re-arrange my life schedule just to have a standing appointment to see her every two weeks!!!! YES, that good!!! I was going on a date with my husband on Friday and needed a blow out Thursday. Before I left work I decided to just Yelp a few spots nearby and Luxe was one of the first ones that popped up. I immediately called and was setup with an appointment for an hour later. The building was beautiful and the receptionist was super nice and offered me something to drink right away. Beatrice met me right after and we chatted about what I was looking for. She made her suggestions and I completely trusted her. For the 45 minutes I was there, it felt as if I was sitting there having my hair done but talking to my best friend!!!!! I'm a mom of two, have a full time job AND run a videography business with my husband on the weekends so to have that time to just talk about normal things meant more to me than I think she knows!!!! Case in point, I bought an amazing dry shampoo that I'm now obsessed with, got 20% off of it for it being my first visit, got another 20% off for my second visit and a few referral cards to give out to get more discounts. After reading all the good reviews I took my mother here to have her chin-length hair cut short. I won't bore you with the details but the woman who was cutting her hair had a panic attack midway and could not finish the cut. The panic attack was tied into cutting the hair, apparently, and still to this day we don't have a straight answer as to what triggered it. We knew something was wrong when after half an hour of snipping tiny little bits here and there she wasn't making any progress. My mom and I were making eye contact like "something is seriously wrong here." Her coworkers encouraged her but for some reason she just couldn't cut my mother's hair. It was a surreal experience. My poor mom had to leave there with half her hair cut like a crazy person while we drove around town trying to find a salon that would fix it. She was nearly in tears. It gets better: they (with the receptionist rudely leading the charge) tried to somehow blame the Stylist not being able to finish my mother's cut on her having "gray hair" (she's 76). The hair color service that I received from Melissa was great - the color was beautiful and vibrant without compromising the health of my hair. My issue is the customer service that the salon is providing. Whoever is in charge of answering calls at any time seems to be irritable, condescending, and curt; as if it's part of their job description. There's been a few issues already: 1) I called to make a consultation appointment and they told me that Melissa had a possible opening that same day but will call me back to confirm. I waited and no call was returned - not even a courtesy call to inform me that she wasn't available, or to reschedule. 2) Upon my actual hair appointment, I was running late due to an unforeseen car accident. I had called the salon to let them know that, without exaggeration, I was going to be 10 minutes late. Whoever answered told me to "hold on to see if they would accept me." I have gone to many high end salons and never had anyone tried to reject my patronage because I was 10 minutes late. 3) Throughout my service there, the clients around me were offered drinks. I was not. Not sure if this was negligence from the staff or if they only offered to clients they are familiar with. 4) As I was handing Melissa her tip, she was having a conversation with someone who worked there. I had excused myself into the conversation to give her tip, but the person she was speaking with did not want to seem bothered by my presence, did not acknowledge me, and barely moved to let me in. My expectations, as a client, is to give me the right of way. Heck, to be polite! If I had to rate Melissa alone on her service, I'd give her 5 stars. But the customer service lacking so desperately from the rest of the team has severely impacted my interest in returning. read more

I love Luxe. They provide quality service at a great price. I've had my hair colored twice and styled 3 times with Jenny and I have never been disappointed. The experience is simply incomparable, from complimentary wine, mimosas or beer to the most relaxing rinse I've had in my lifetime. I personally have always experienced top quality customer service from everyone in the salon, even when I was a new customer. I've always been greeted with a smile from both people at the front desk and I've always been complimented on my hair on the way out. I walked in and saw so many nice haircuts. But unfortunately they didn't see me worthwhile of a nice makeover. I paid a total $140 and I got a total Coming To America haircut. (You know. That scene where Eddy Murphy gets his braid cut off and they charge him an arm and a leg) My hair looked the same as it did when I came in. I've gotten more impressive hair cuts from beauty school students. It was really not bad. Just extremely overpriced. Will not be returning. Jay-Z can be credited for what can be the best line that describes the feeling a woman gets when she's had a great experience at a salon, and is done paying, and walking out: ALLOW ME TO RE-INTRODUCE MYSELF-MY NAME IS MEESH! (or whatever your name is) This is how I felt when I stepped out of Luxe. I had let my hair grow up to the point where it created the dreaded "pyramid head" and my curls were beginning to resemble a brillo pad that's seen better days. I had read about this hair wizard named Sara, and as soon as I walked in it was warm smiles, and cold sangria in my hands. Sara listened to what I wanted ( respect my length, but give it texture and movement) and walked me through my ideas for highlights, explaining to me what would work best and look best. I was a bit nervous, but she quickly waved that away as she expertly snipped my hair and chatted with me throughout the haircut about spoken word, music, movies...the works! At the end of the experience, I felt like a million bucks! She refreshed my hairstyle and gave me a great new look for 2013. Definitely have found my go to colorist! read more

I'd like to think I'm a woman who stands by her word. (Note: Previous statement is null and void after a couple of gin and tonics. Basically, let's not count on me naming my first child after your deceased Pop pop Giuseppi, I don't care WHAT I told you during happy hour.) So, in an older review of Peter of London, I mentioned following my personal "hair whisperer" Karen to the ends of the Earth. Seems that the end of the world resides in Kendall. Shocker. Anyway, true to my word, I now take my pixie-ish locks to her new digs at Luxe. The vibe is all Miami Vice-80s-cool. You know, the classic interior design moves every house in Miami sported when Crocket and Tubbs were still holding it down. The acrylic blocked wall, the slate gray walls, black leather furniture. You know the deal. The ladies are ever-so-gracious and friendly. But that takes a back seat to their talent, because each and every one of them knows their way around a color bar and a pair of scissors. But the real deal here is Karen. Also, the free sangria they pass out. Have some short tresses or maybe thinking about lopping off the whole affair a la Miley Cyrus (and hey - I actually think her shag do' is kinda hot.)? I'm a safe person. I like my typical highlights. I don't step outside the box very often...but the day I turned 30, everything changed. I decided that I wasn't getting any younger, so perhaps something completely different was in order. As a professional, I had to keep this looking classy, but it needed to represent my quirky side...obviously! That in mind, I scanned Yelp for recommendations. One specific reviewer and her wholly Lord amazing hair (Katrina), caught my eye here on Yelp. The first line of one of her hair color reviews reads, "Sara Maria Cabrera is the bomb." I thought to myself, OK. If this "Sara" person can keep your mane looking like Rapunzel from Tangled, then I'm game. If you're ready to step outside the box, try something new, go with something bold and daring but want to make sure it won't nip you in the butt later, then I suggest Sara with every fiber of my being. The woman knows what she's doing with her color technique. She'll also school you on maintenance and what it might take (time and money) to keep up with the look moving forward. She's a whiz with the scissors as well, giving my hair just the right cut to add volume and bounce where needed. One hour and a full blow dry later, I walked out sporting purely sexy dark chocolate locks with a hint of honey gold highlights throughout. I can't say enough good things about the experience, so I'll list some facts: - The location is quaint and sassy with a private lot for parking - They'll offer you something to drink, such as ice water w/lemon, Sangria (with fruit!), tea or coffee - A wonderful woman named Megan gave me a free hand massage that nearly put me to sleep (she also offers waxing, facials and other spa necessities) - Every hair wash includes an amazing scalp/neck massage - They'll remember your name! - and - the best part - - When I mentioned Katrina's review and her amazing hair photos, Sara gave me a referral discount of 10%. That 10% meant the world to me. It meant she listened, she understood the price involved, and she was willing to give a girl a pat on the back for listening to someone else's advice. It seems I'll be back to Sara for cuts and color in the future, and I couldn't be more excited. UPDATE: Returned to Sara recently for an updated summer look: sun-kissed honey highlights throughout with a dark locks at the base. Let me start off by saying I came in here like a lost puppy. This is my first hair salon experience in my 23 years of life. My grandma happens to be a hair stylist, which means no one else has ever touched my hair and I have also never got what I asked for in a haircut, but I digress... I pretty much walked in with a picture of Khloe Kardashian and the hope someone in this establishment could take my mop of hair and make it look anything like Khloe's beautiful ombre mane. Luckily I got paired up with Ary, who kept it real with me and told me what we could do realistically. The next 5 hours were spent stripping the black dye out of my hair (Did I mention my hair was dyed pitch black? Yeah.), walking to the sink to rinse, dying my roots a chocolate brown, walking to the sink to rinse, highlighting it, walking to the sink to rinse, and finally she gave me a great cut and blow dry. Throughout it all, Ary was patient and cool and didn't even try to kill me. To top it off, I now have pretty kick ass hair and a follow-up appointment in 6 weeks (Ary, you are a miracle worker). I can't recommend this place enough though! The ladies all have a great dynamic, work together, and make you feel really welcome (plus they all look like really cool people you wish you hung out with). Is it pricey? Yes, but wouldn't you rather spend money on your hair than things you don't need like utilities and food? I would. read more
