My new favorite past time is karaoke. I have my weekly spot where I've become a regular and even have a playlist in my ipod that I practice along with in preparation for my next performance. Now I can rent a small room at Luxor and practice for a few hours with my sidekick. We split the cost of $20 per hour and we don't have to wait our turn because some skanky chick is hogging the mic with her Stevie Nicks song. Just like the white winged dove Sings a song Sounds like she's singing Oooh... Ooh... Oooh... If you want to have a few drinks or snacks while you sing bring them along! We set up a few cold beverages on the coffee table, some pita chips a little hummus....there you have it, the perfect little refresher between songs. Got to keep the vocal chords wet you know. However, be aware that if you drink too much wine or margaritas between songs you'll have a hard time keeping up the lyrics on the screen as they pass by. Luxor is your typical Korean NRB (noraebang). You get your own seperate room for your party along with a leather couch and a coffee table. I've been here with friends and family and each time we've gone it's been a GREAT experience. If you have a really biiiig party, theres a huge room in the back with a mic, surround sound, big screen tv, and a mic stand. It seats about 20-30 people I would say. This is the perfect spot for people who drink in or around that area. Theres The Dream which is in the same plaza and literally 10 ft away or Sim Sim Pooli. The perfect way to end any night of drinking at a Korean Bar is to go have a drunken/lets get sober session of NRB! Once, my mom, cousin, aunt, and I decided to go have some fun singing, we go and to our dismay all the rooms are full! This place is great. When you walk in, you notice the Egyptian theme throughout the place. You go down a dim lit hallway and are led to your cozy and private room. Their selection of music is a little outdated, and the songs are altered in a way that make them sound super cheesy, there are random Asian clips playing throughout the songs, that are completely irrelevant to what you are singing. For example: While singing Barbie Girl, a video of a man shooting a guy in the back, and a woman melodramatically crying is displayed. Happy hour is from 4-7 pm every day. If you're bored in the area (because what else is there to do except eating and shopping), hit up Luxor. I just went two days in a row and took my grandma with me one of the days! :) The place became a lot cleaner than it was back in the days, and some of the rooms have upgraded screens/machines/remotes now. It may still not be as fancy-schmancy as some other NRBs in LA, but it opens earlier (3PM) and has Happy Hours, which run from 3PM to 7PM. During that time, a small room is only $10/hr. After that, it's $20/hr, so I really take advantage of the Happy Hours. Tip: Make sure you note what time you come in! Many of the machines are not self-timed. One star off because we went a little over (5 minutes or so), but he charged an extra $5. I have a feeling that he didn't keep track of the time himself, but I didn't want to argue because I had a blast. As some other reviewers pointed out, you should try to go with someone who knows Korean or has been to NRBs before to fully take advantage of the remote. In addition to entering the songs, you can search for specific songs, skip instrumental parts (time-saver), applaud your friends' singing, change the tune to disco style, speed things up, change the key of the song (if you can't hit those high notes), etc... For the song selection, they are as updated as any other Korean NRB would be. Yes, it's mostly Korean songs, but they have the latest hits. This is the cutest little spot! My friends and I were looking for a karaoke spot that allowed underage kids, and when I called she was so sweet and polite! The prices were very reasonable, $20 a hour, and we had the BEST TIME! There were so many song selections, almost every single song we were looking for was on there! Call me crazy but I came here the night after I went to Energy in Alhambra. My friends and I were bored. And we were in Cerritos. Needless to say we were ultra bored after getting drinks at BJ's. But all 3 of us were willing to go karaoke ! (even though 2 of us went for 5 hours of vocal-chord-damaging exercise last night) So we came here, as there really isn't anywhere else to go in Cerritos at midnight. I keep thinking that Luxor has Chinese songs. I didn't see them in the catalog but I swear I remember my friend singing some A-mei Chang songs last time. What I like about Luxor is I can sing all my silly Japanese pop songs (I know a ton more Japanese songs than Chinese songs...) complete with tambourine... Luxor makes me wish I knew some Korean songs. For an American song selection, Luxor has a very diverse selection---my friend sang "Don'tcha" and "The Phantom of the Opera".... and "Time to Say Goodbye". Yes, it was a fun night. Granted it was not as "happy" as the $12 we paid for 5 hours of singing--Luxor is $20/hour per room. But we sang for 2 good hours even though our room was tiny and the microphones were super loud (sorry neighbors). I guess what I really want to say is, thank you, Luxor, for giving Cerritos residents (or visitors) something decent to do after hours without having to drive 30 miles to Hollywood. read more

This place is hard to find but it is definitely a treat once you get there. Not as fancy as some of the other noraebang you'll find in Koreatown or Orange County but it comes with a pretty extensive book of English songs. The trick of enjoying Korean noraebang is to learn how to use the remote. Once you figure that out (and it has taken me 5 years to figure this out), you'll be able to search for English songs by Artist or Title. My boyfriend, his family and I went last weekend and we were able to find Lady Gaga's "Edge of Glory." The songbooks themselves might not be that updated but the system is! No alcohol here but some cousins were able to walk to a nearby liquor store and come back with Four Lokos (for real, I thought this stuff was outlawed). I ordered cold, bottled water for our group and service was prompt. Every time I come here, the lady in front is super nice. I love this place because it is affordable, clean, and the workers are friendly and accommodating. The only thing I don't understand is why I can never score higher than 86 (out of 100) despite singing my heart out. I wish someone would create a karaoke machine that judged you on singing and dancing already! For what I lack in singing skills, I'd make up in the dancing! read more

Luxor Music Studio has all the fixins' and trimmins' of your standard ol' noraebang. Norae--what? 'Noraebang,' Korean for 'singing room' or known to most modern folk as 'karaoke.' But t's not like you'd expect. There is no actual bar and you don't sing in public and risk public humiliation. Your party (or you by yourself, if singing alone is your thing) get your own air conditionedcomfy room complete with a sofa, coffee table and of course the state-of-the-art Karaoke equipment. Having been to Korea twice, I can say that this particular noraebang is comparable to the more upscale noraebangs in Korea. And here, for that matter. I have Korean friends that can attest to that. The best time to go, would be any day between 3 and 7pm. It's been awhile since I've been, but it's either sing all you want for $10 or $20. Either way, it's a better deal than paying the original $20 an hour. Downside to this place/reason why it doesn't have 5 stars is because the English selection isn't as big as other Karaoke places here. And also, I'm not sure if a language barrier exists since I frequent with Korean fluent friends -- but I get the feeling that if I were to go with non-Korean speakers, there could possibly be a language barrier. Plenty of rooms that accommodate a couple friends or even large parties. Best time to come is right when they open (3PM) or late at night after a couple drinks (what's better than buzzed/drunk NRB_ing)? They have the newest in k-pop music. Not so quick to update American hits, but there's still plenty to choose from. Prices vary depending on the size of room you get. Bring a large enough group though and it's not that bad. read more

Came to this karaoke place twice so far. Once just with friends, another with my co-workers. It's a little hard to find because no where outside of the building does it say "Luxor" or "Luxor Music Studio," so keep an eye out because it's hiding somewhere in the Pioneer Plaza. Please note there's no bar. But the best thing about this place is that it's BYOB! I came with my coworkers and the Korean lady asked if we were expecting more people. Apparently we brought "too much alcohol," one large cooler and a styrofoam cooler full of alcohol for 5 people. We said two more coming and she was a little hesitant but she let us through anyway. The rooms aren't fancy, just leather couches along the perimeter of the wall, a good size tv, two mics, and two light-up tambourines. The song selection wasn't bad either. We sang anything from Michael Jackson to The Backstreet Boys to Snoop Dogg to Journey to Usher to Lady Gaga to Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline." Altogether an enjoyable experience. I've been to better karaoke spots but here you can rent a room at a very reasonable price ($20/hr, despite how many people you bring) and well, it's BYOB! read more

The rooms here are very spacious and the whole facility is clean! The remote control is a bit difficult to figure out, so I had to keep calling the owner in to help us! Maybe I'll buy Rosetta Stone in Korean for the sake of their remote. I kid. Song selections are pretty up to date. The only place to nrb now in Cerritos since top ten closed. I have come here countless of times. Some of the rooms have the newer machines, which has a nicer user interface and is easier to find songs. They try to keep up as much as they can with the latest songs, but I think that they could do it more often. We almost always bring drinks into the room. I am pretty sure we even brought in party trays of food once hahah. We used to come here during happy hour during our high school days so I have no idea how much that costs now, but we always end up paying about 25$/hr for the medium rooms. read more

I love Luxor!! They have huge rooms and great music selections! We always head to Luxor for big reunions and they are willing to set us up with the biggest room they have at the end of the hall. Man, this place has some sticky-ass pages. Really comfy seating area though, with low tables as opposed to those rigid booths that make going in and out a pain. Clean bathroom, too. However, I really struggled to find songs to sing to; it seems like the songbooks are perpetually stuck in 2007. Couldn't find a single new song I wanted to sing, even by searching within the karaoke system via the remote. Great for nostalgic jams (although not a lot of old-school hip-hop) but seems like this place is catered more towards the older crowd. This is a pretty good karaoke place. Roomy, pretty good selection, but standard stuff for English choices. I admit when it comes to English songs, if it doesn't have Tears For Fears hits, it's sits on the "standard" level. I came here with bunch of friends (10 of us) after a friend's birthday dinner. The place can be somewhat hard to find. It's inside this interior shopping center which always seems to look barren. There are restaurants in there, but I haven't figured out why they never really decorated the area. Anyways, as you enter Luxor, you'll notice hand-drawn Egyptian paintings on the wall. Not too decorative, but it's kind of nice. We went into the first room, which had a big monitor, and two wireless microphones (sweet!) and a microphone stand. The big CRT monitor looked old and the colors were running greenish (time to upgrade to LCD). So, we switched to the room next door. The microphones had wires this time, but that's okay. The TV was still slightly fuzzy, but we could read it well and we had a ton of fun. The bathroom is unisex, so when it gets popular, you may have to wait, or use the mall bathroom right outside (which might need a key). Overall, though, it is a good karaoke place, good service, and not too expensive. LCD screens would make it a little better (or, it could just be the two rooms we had). read more

Past Memories... wait no... The Dream... yea that is it... and they have all the normal Korean Bar Fare... Dok Boki...mmm... Kimchi Pancake...mmm... bbq fish skin...mmm... korean chicken wings are so good... So if you have been to these type of places you know the drill... this place is cool... I love Luxor karaoke! As soon as you walk in, the owners greet you so nicely. They remember me every time I go, and give us free Korean drinks. They're always smiling! They have multiple rooms, and their systems are up to date. The facility is clean and spacious. Their prices are lower than their competitors, which is surprising because Luxor is way nicer. They even allow you to bring food in sometimes. I try to take advantage of their happy hour everyday before 7pm. I highly recommend going there!!! read more
