My sister is a repeat customer and had no prior issues, even witnessed great customer service over the summer with other customers, but unfortunately I did not experience the same. The shop is well organized with thoughtful descriptions/recommendations for each product, reasonably priced, though if you visit the overseas markets yourself, you will know you can purchase the same souvenirs for a fraction of the price. Maybe what I'm assuming was the proprietor felt my judgment, that I wouldn't be purchasing after browsing so was dismissed with a "Get the f*** out of my store." It took me by surprise, I had to make eye contact to see if it was directed towards me or if maybe he was on the phone, but since it was just my sister and me and she was out of earshot, it was hard to give the benefit of the doubt once he made eye contact back. We still thanked him politely, and I immediately told my sister what happened after we left, she was shocked, but after seeing other reviews of other similar experiences, we know we're not alone. If you're willing to take a 50/50 chance on the mental wellness mood that day, just be ready to possibly have to "brush it off," I just hope he doesn't get in a physical altercation with someone who may not be able to do so. He has lost my sister as a customer, but we sense he's lost passion for the business based on customer service. read more

Those reviewers who wrote about the rude treatment by the staff here are right. I love this store but will no longer shop here after my experience today. I spent hundreds of dollars and the guy behind the counter acted like I was really inconveniencing him when I was trying to check out. It was super off-putting. I visited this shop last weekend. I can be indecisive so it took me a long time to choose my items. The owner was friendly, offered interesting information, and didn't rush or pressure me in any way. I purchased a lovely block print cotton tablecloth and two pairs of earrings. The prices were excellent. I will for sure return next time I'm in Ptown. read more

Popped into this adorable shop last week after some necklaces in the window caught my eye. Really lovely items all over the store. The man behind the register (perhaps the owner?) was friendly and was able to answer all of our questions. He told us a little bit more about the items we were buying, where they were from, how made, etc. Felt very good about this purchase. Oh, and prices were so reasonable! We walked out very happy. I am wearing my lovely necklace right now, in fact. It will remind me of a wonderful week and a great experience in this shop. I shrug my shoulder at the other reviews. I visited this little shop near the place we stayed at and although small, there is all kinds of unique jewelry. There are a lot of fragile items. I purchased two unique bracelets. The owner was friendly, wrapped them with care, and rang up my order without any issues. I would shop this store again. read more

We experienced the worst customer service ever. The man behind the counter was so arrogant and nasty. It was so bizarre because every other store on that street has friendly kind people working. I'd like to think this man just had a really bad day but when I read the other reviews I can see that maybe this guy is just an angry bitter man. Wow, what horrible customer service. I'm a movie buff and I loved that they had movie posters printed on bamboo. Had picked out a few to purchase, "Dr Strangelove" and Breakfast at Tiffany's" and I was calmly leafing through the other choices when the owner approached myself and my 2 children-standing beside me and he was visibly upset that we were "all looking through the merchandise"!!! What a strange thing for a shop owner to say. How else does one decide what to purchase. I left without buying anything. Why would any human being open a shop on a main thoroughfare in Provincetown and NOT ALLOW CUSTOMERS TO LOOK before buying. Btw, these were NOT ancient artifacts or objects d'art, but rather some cheap knock off movie art printed on bamboo paper. PS, the rest of the merchandise was crap imported from India. Clearly there are deeper issues at play here. Time to close up shop buddy. read more

Fifth trip to Provincetown and again found treasures here. Tried to replace their lemongrass oil after I got home and ran out -- no luck. Got three bottles this time. Beautiful pressed flower cards. The perfect green glass vase. All beyond reasonably priced so could get duplicates galore and share with friends back home. Thanks for your great eye and nose! read more

I shopped here recently and found the owner very accomodating. I took my time browsing, tried on multiple pairs of earrings, and walked out very happily with a few nice purchases which didn't break the bank. I'm sure it's different during the "on season", but my experience was great. read more

Have been shopping here for over 20 years. The selection and prices are unbeatable. Mark and Lindsay are great owners - very friendly and helpful. They spend the winter traveling to the Near East and Far East on their buying trips and always come back with great items. read more

Buy with caution. Owner refused to allow me to exchange 2 silk scarves Saturday afternoon that I bought on Thursday evening along with several other items (that I was keeping). He kept telling me, "Look around, I am so busy. I can't deal with this." What is there to deal with?And, "Don't give me the eye." Ha, ha, am I supposed to look over his head while talking with him? Snidely announced to the full shop as I was exiting, "Of course, she wore them." He created quite a scene about it, in his own shop. I was stunned to be treated so rudely and confused as to why he decided to loudly say untrue mean things about me publicly. For the record, I did not wear them and they were still folded in the tissue paper and in the original bag. The reason he refused to take the scarves back was a mystery to me until his nasty comment as I was leaving. The shop keeper erroneously assumed my character is as debased as his own, evidently. He also does not have his "No Exchange" policy posted anywhere in the store. In sum, examine scarves carefully for defects before buying. The dye colors look different in daylight than in the shop light, cheaper and more garish, and the silk screening is sloppy, with the colors not lining up with the black guide lines. I know, what do you expect for $25, but still, now I can't look at them without thinking of this unpleasant incident and the quality is so poor I would be embarrassed to gift them. But this was the only nasty incident in an otherwise idyllic first visit to P-town. I hope you have a wonderful time here! read more

Do not shop at Luxories on Commercial. I walk with a cane, I slipped on the street and bloodied my shins. I sat on their stoop to gather my wits and clean up. The person working there rudely asked me to move, when I explained my situation he still said "whatever! There is a bench across the street." I should add at this point it was raining. I understand this isn't about the store or their product but about the way they chose handle a situation. read more

Great shop. I was in there a year ago with my kids and we were enthralled by the unique movie posters from Vietnam. I think by that time, though, we were too exhausted to make any purchasing decisions. Anyway, we made sure to swing by Luxories during our P-town excursion this year, and picked up 4 posters and some other knick-knacks. It's a beautiful store with unique items, and it's worth checking out. As far as other peoples' experiences go with customer service - we did get two very different vibes depending on which owner was 'on duty,' but the overall experience was positive. Just don't handle the merchandise too much. ;) read more

I love this store!!!! Everything about it makes it great. I came into the store the first time a couple years ago and I was greeted very kindly and felt welcomed in. They also have a very excellent scent in the store. I definitely recommend shopping here. They have a wide variety of things to buy from movie posters to jewelry. read more

I had an absolutely humiliating experience in this shop. I was quietly looking at the tablecloths in one corner of the shop, when the owner of the shop said loudly in front of all the other customers, "honey if you open another tablecloth you'll have to buy it." When I inquired if he was serious, he said yes. When I asked why, he said "you're making a terrible mess over there" even though I had folded everything and put the stuff back. I have never been treated so horribly in any store like that and I do not recommend this place. read more
