DONE going here. I have been going here on and off for years, when I come back I am ALWAYS reminded why I stopped coming in the first place. I am constantly being placed with someone who is absolutely terrible at doing nails despite making it clear that I only want the owner or her husband to do my fills. My nails are chipping and cracking 7-10 days after getting a fill, for the price that is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. They are SIGNIFICANTLY higher priced than any nail shop in the area, and there are MANY. Ten days after my last fill I now have to go somewhere else and get another fill because my nails were filled so thinly. Do yourself a favor and don't go here. read more

My sister-in-law sent me money for my 73rd birthday and I really needed a pedicure. When I got there, I decided to also get a manicure. They put me in their massage chair which is nice. A young assistant gave me a very fast regular mani-pedi. It cost me $57. The next day my polish was already half off my nails!! So I went back to show them and all they said was...well you got a manicure, not a Gel or Acrylic manicure. I have had Gel, Acrylic, and Shellac. I understand they last longer. But a polish manicure should last longer than ONE DAY. They didn't offer to redo my nails on the nails that polish came off or anything. I told them, then take off all the polish and put on clear polish. He removed my polish and that was all he did. They don't care about their customers so I won't be returning!!!! read more

Mommy daughter mani pedi day was planned and we are new to town. Overall we are happy with our nails appearance. The pedicure room was not very clean or relaxing. Loud sports were playing on the big screen TV's. It was our first time getting our nails done together so we were hoping for a more relaxing and clean atmosphere I guess. I was not given the prices for the kids mani pedi (she is 6yo). Total amount came out to higher than I expected and did not receive a receipt. First time getting shellac and there was really hot burning sensation under the blue light. Not sure if that is normal or not! It's a nice atmosphere, most of the employees are very nice. However, the last time we went and got our nails filled she cut me pretty good on 2 of my fingers when she was using the drill. She dumped alcohol on them and held paper towel them until they stopped bleeding. Ok, accidents happen, but she never apologized, she rushed through my fill. My fingers hurt for 2 days and had scabs. I've always liked it there but I won't go back after that. At least not to get my nails done. My girlfriend also had quite an experience with the older woman who did her fill. She is as very rude, my girlfriend asked for something specific and the woman ignored her. I kinda liked the place until our last experience. read more

I'm not high maintenance what so ever, so take this for what it is. I only go for pedicures maybe 4 times a year at best, never manicures. Very clean and comfortable environment, but don't expect a conversation. I just assume this going in to a nail place though. Don't get me wrong, everyone was extremely friendly. This salon is literally across Telegraph by my subdivision and is the first ever nail salon in this Plaza. I came in on a Sunday. I either visit Gigis in southgate with Len only or schedule an appt. with Favis. However, Gigis is usually busy and Len is always booked and Favis is usually by appt ONLY and in Detroit. Luxy has a 30% off for their grand opening so I thought whatever let me give it a shot. My nail tech was Linda and this place wasnt that busy but I waited for a bit. The salon is a good size not huge and nicely decorated. For a new salon they have an AWESOME selection of shellac colors. I came in for a full set with shellac. My nail tech was Linda. She is very sweet lady i had one nail with a bit of acrylic from last set she was trying to get off but painfully she did what she could. I showed her a pic of what I wanted. Unfortunately, it was not like how i wanted. I wanted a very short coffin and not narrowly coffin but wide. She asked if I wanted a design and I said no. She then told me if I could wait while she does someone elses nail design and I said sure no prob. She didnt take long and when she came back she said she would do glitter on my ring finger so I said okay thinking it would be complimentary since she left for a bit to go to another client. Im not into too much bling but I said sure why not its free right? Well, after filing I did tell her I thought they were still too long and told her about a few that needed some shaping. Honestly, I just wanted to leave not because of the place just wanted to leave. I was not satisfied with all of the shapes of my nails and it wasnt like the pic I showed but I said at $28 whatever let me just go home. Full set with shellac = $40 - 30% discount = 28. She told me my nails were $40 with discount $32 um even if my nails were $45 it wouldnt be $32 so whatever I didnt say anything. I mean $40 would be correct esp not charging me for the glitter ring fingers but $32 is not the correct discount. She was so nice though and very gentle on my cut nail so whatever I left it at an even $40 because I always tip On attitude not always the job. Please take a look at the pics to show that coffin was not precise shaping nor were they all the same shape. Maybe ill just do a pedi just sucks cause they have some Gel hologram colors that no other places have. However, I will not give up my girl Len at GiGis or Favi's sorry Luxy! And Yes I do know I couldve told her and Im sure she would have been happy to fix it but the tech is the pro not me so if I show you a pic and you say you can do that wellllll Id do the job myself but clearly thats not why I came to get this service done. read more

If you're thinking about going here, don't do it girl. This was the worst experience of my life. I waited about 10-15 minutes for a guy who came and was quite rude. He randomly left after getting the acetone and foil on my fingers. He never came back the owner decided to take me. As she was taking off my previous nails she managed to rip part of my actual nail off (i get it can be hard since the nail becomes brittle after acrylics but she also managed to rip off 2 others). She also drilled over the bleeding nail bed of the nail she just ripped off. Not to mention, drilled on 2 other fingers that began to bleed. Left those nails to bleed and because the nails she did were so thin, you can actually see the blood from under the nail. She tried leaving 3 nails crooked, which i asked her to fix. She showed me 2 types of glitter and I asked if she could only put one of the types on because I didn't really like the other one and she replied with "No, it doesn't pop as much without it", as if it was her nail and my opinion didn't matter. 0/10 I honestly shouldn't have even paid because the nails she did were so thin they broke not even a week after getting them done (they also become flimsy after showering). read more

Unfortunately I have bad news. I had a previous experience at this salon that was ok but not spectacular... nothing really to write about. But I went in today to get a shellac manicure and left more than disappointed. While receiving my manicure not just one but two of my cuticles were clipped to the point of bleeding. I don't treat myself to a spa day often which is why it is more upsetting. Even though I had heard good things I won't be back. I came to this salon looking for a full set they fucked up my nails so bad I wanted ombré nails, she didn't know what she was doing at all and proceeded with my nails. At the end it wasn't an ombré, it looked like she dipped my hands in fun dip and put a clear coat over it. I told her I didn't like it and she grabbed a nail polish and put it over the work she did . SHE DIDNT EVEN TAKE THE FUN DIP NAIl "art" that she did off. I'm disappointed and disturbed. I would give them zero stars but it won't let me. read more

I started going here when they first opened, had good experiences. I stopped going awhile ago just because of cost and not having time to get my nails filled all the time. I went back yesterday got a full set and had to go back the next day to get one nail fixed because it already broke. They fixed it for free and I left happy. Although I believe it was the owners daughter who fixed it, she seemed to still be learning. Later that day, same day I got it fixed, ANOTHER nail broke! Went here to get a pedicure ( the most basic one offered ) and a fill with shelac. Expected to pay one price got to the the counter was charged well over what I was expecting to pay . After telling me the amount I was made to feel obligated to tip as he stood there waiting for me to tell them how much to charge my card. When I questioned the price I was told because I had broken nails and they charge to repair. I also questioned that because I literally just put acrylic over my natural nail and no nail tip or anything was added. I have been getting my nails done for a very long time and due to my long time nail girl no longer doing nails have been In search of a new place. I will tell you this won't be it. I was not happy especially considering my pedicure wasn't very good as he went to get a hot towel I was picking off reminents of my old polish that was still there . I feel giving this place 3 stars is fair. I flew in from California to get my nails done for a wedding that I'm going to in 1 day. I came in to Luxy nails for a manicure and pedicure. I would give this place 5 stars for cleanliness and sterilization, it's a beautiful salon. The reason I only gave it 3 stars was because I got a manicure and pedicure for $55 (which I pay less for in California). The tech was very kind and entertaining, they have a great selection of colors and shellac. Shortly after I got my nails done, my nail polish started to chip, in less than 24 hours, every nail had a chip in it. I called the salon and informed them, and they told me to come in to fix it. As soon as I arrived, they had me pick out a new color, and reminded me numerous times that if I would have gotten shellac, it would have lasted longer. I didn't think nail polish, done at a salon, would have chipped in less than 24 hours? Instead of taking the original nail polish off, they just painted over that nail polish with a new color (they both were red to be fair, but one was all glitter). I asked her "why are you painting over it, wouldn't you want to take the nail polish off"? She said "didn't you only pay $15 for a manicure"? I said "Well.. Yes but I also paid $40 for a pedicure" and she said "well if you only paid $15 for a manicure, then it will be fine painting over the original color". I have worked in customer service for more than 10 years, and this isn't how an issue is resolved. I hope this can be of help for my fellow Michiganders, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

It was my first experience and I will never go back. They don't take their time on your nails at all. I did grey may teams when I was done I touched my nail and it made an indention in the nail. I told her and she asked what I had done. She fixed it then some other guy came and looked at my nails and he touched them with his nails and once again it made multiple indentions.
