I somehow ended up on the mailing list for this joke of a gym. It's not an automated mailing list…read morewhere you can hit an unsubscribe button and it's taken care of. I have exchanged emails with this "gym" for MONTHS and I was led to believe that they would remove me from their mailing list. (I live in Texas. Their facilities are in Canada.) Yet I am STILL subjected to their "please give us money for our services, even though we have truly crappy attention to details." If they can't manage to remove me, someone who lives absolutely nowhere near their facilities, in a completely different country, from their mailing list, then why would you want to pay them your hard earned money for what are obviously subpar services? If they can't manage to remove me from their email list after multiple requests, can you imagine the nightmare of trying to quit this gym and remove your credit card from their database?

They seem to be forever re-doing it and adding new classes and equipment. There's a good mix of body builders as well as mainly just regular people in all shapes and size, so more welcoming than other gyms for newbies. Since the flood, they really did a cleanup and it's brighter. It's easy to find a parking space, except at the busiest times, there's never a wait for any equipment. What else do you want? I don't use the showers but it's not like I go here to impress anyone but myself. I tested 3 other gyms in the area before signing up for this one. What else do I have to say? I"m still going to Xcel. Try it, you'll like it. I mean, it's all about the exercise after all.

They only do personal training and trainer/client numbers are very limited at any given time, allowing for all Covid protocols to be maintained. Hubby started training with Steph a few weeks ago and I recently joined him for a couple of sessions. I love that the space is clean and open. All equipment is in good condition and working well. Steph is motivating and pushes you to go beyond your mental limits. I love how he explains what he has us doing, the benefits and the rationale. He appreciates that we have knowledge and his explanations motivate us more. We have seen one or two other trainers with their clients when we are there and they all seem knowledgeable and professional.

One of my biggest fears about doing personal training is that they'll yell at you and make your confidence go down. I went for a free session/consultation and Erik was very friendly. I'm not sure if he'll be as friendly for my next session lol. I was honest with him and told him that I wanted to learn the proper technique since I have my own gym at home. Okay, this review was written over a few days and I've just finished my first paid workout. It was completely different than my first session and while the weights were light, I am definitely feeling the burn now. Overall, it was a great workout and while personal training is expensive, if you tell them what you are looking for, they'd be happy to work with you to achieve your goals. I think you should try it out as the first session is free.
