A once-in-a-lifetime experience and meal for anyone lucky enough to snag a reservation…read more Reservations open at 10 am on the first of the month for the following month and will go quickly, within a couple of minutes, so for a restaurant 15 years in, is still a hot spot to be. I planned my whole Stockholm trip around coming here, and was lucky enough to snag a solo reservation for dinner the last night of my trip in May 2025. Truly nothing comes close to the overall service & hospitality experience and quality of the food and drinks. I have dietary restrictions (no red meat), that they could accommodate with no problem and even provide a printed menu that represented my exact substitutions, which rarely happens for me. The night I came, Björn Frabtzén received a third Michelin star at Frantzén's sister restaurant in Dubai, becoming the only chef in the world to helm three 3-Michelin star restaurants simultaneously, and my experience here really shows why they are the best of the best. You enter from a lobby and are greeted by a host who will guide you through the experience. I had the opportunity to use the restroom and then got a peak into some of the meats I'd be enjoying for my meal in the entryway itself. You then go up an elevator to the Lounge, where you get your first look at the drink menu and your first bites. Frantzén was one of the first restaurants to really champion this experience of moving from room to room for different courses and it sets an ambiance almost of eating at someone's home. It's casual but decadent and the chefs walk you through all of the ingredients you're about to enjoy while casually chit chatting and enjoying the best canapés of your life. After the starters, you're taken through the prep kitchen and the wine cellar to the actual restaurant, which is a large open kitchen where you get to watch the chefs work while enjoying your meal. I was celebrating my birthday, and despite getting the NA pairing (which was excellent minus one drink towards the end) had so many additional generous free pours of incredible wines and champagne throughout the night. Well worth it, as their sommelier won best sommelier at the Scandinavia Michelin ceremony one month later in June 2025, and some of the glasses they gave me for free were easily $100 a piece. Come hungry, because you'll leave stuffed beyond belief for a 5-6 hour meal (and can always hang out longer if the restaurant hasn't closed up for the night.) This menu is legendary and best to go in without too many spoilers, but I had the best dish of my life - the tear drop peas chanwamushi - sweet, so tender, unreal. Another guest told me they wait all year for pea season to get this version of the dish. After dinner, you move back into the lounge where you're treated to after dinner drinks, teas, light sweets (that they will box up for you if you're too full) and the famous cardamom, brown butter, and Madeira madeleines. These mini-versions of madeleines come in a set of 9, are made fresh to order, and are refilled for however long you want to sit and enjoy the ambiance and chat at the end of the night. I felt like over the course of this part in particular, I made friends with other diners and the staff and had one of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences of my life. Frantzén is one of the best in the world (and if Reddit is to be believed, the very best) for a reason.

There's no doubt the ingredients were amazing and the creativity and execution were impressive. I loved the subtle, almost tapioca-like caviar with just a hint of saltiness, the langoustine where you could really taste the sweet, meaty lobster, and the jasmine ice cream with a thin nutty soybean layer and super light Belgian waffle. The raspberry mocktail with the chocolate cake was also a surprisingly great pairing. But honestly, I was a little disappointed that the food wasn't consistently mind-blowing for that price. Some dishes were too salty, while others had so many flavors happening that the main ingredient got lost. The scallop was just okay at first, but once I got some of the bourbon butter sauce in my bite, WOW. I also loved the lingering corn flavor from one of the appetizers. The langoustine was probably my favorite because everything felt so balanced--you could taste the ingredient itself rather than everything around it. What really made the experience special was everything surrounding the food. From the sliding doors and gorgeous presentation to the incredibly friendly staff, ingredient walkthrough, tour of the prep station, and chefs showing us little techniques, you really appreciated the insane amount of work and precision behind each dish. Watching chefs from around the world work together to execute each course was almost a show in itself. The visuals were stunning, with each dish looking like a little work of art. I especially loved sitting in the lounge for the appetizers before moving into the darker dining room with American oldies playing in the background. It created this interesting contrast of extremely elevated, technically difficult food in a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere. And then came the dessert finale. After the main dessert, they brought us back upstairs and surprised us with even more sweets--chocolates, candied pineapple, macarons and warm, super-light cinnamon-cardamom madeleines (my favorite). The yellow macaron had the perfect texture and wasn't overly sweet, and I loved that they replaced the madeleines when they thought they were getting cold. By then I was stuffed, but somehow hot tea helped me make room. Overall, definitely a top-notch experience and I'm glad I got to experience it. I just wish the food itself had more consistent "OMG" moments Still, experiencing this level of creativity, precision, hospitality and teamwork is something I'll always remember. This was more 4.8 stars considering the price.

Felt a bit like a college frat party. Almost skipped it, based on that underwhelming evening, but had to give it another shot late upon an icy and still midnight clear in January. Just amazing...Perfect soundtrack. Sat at the bar to watch the crew, which builds drinks with a bit of panache & showmanship. Started with their Whisky for the Holy Ghost and it was in fact a religious experience: Ghost bourbon, amaretto, Maurin Quina, bitters, salt and served in a chilled corked flask topped with smoke that lingered and really added to the ceremony & taste. My fellow penitents had tasty espresso drinks. It was the second round, however, that was truly memorable. I asked the mad genius behind the bar to concoct an extemporaneous "riff on a Sazerac." Maybe lost in translation, and ended up with more a riff on a vieux carre, but what a riff it was! Michters Rye, calvados in lieu of cognac, a healthy dose of some kind of floral bitters, a few other bitters and a sazeracky absinthe spritz. Guy said he had no idea how it would be, but it was freaking perfection! Skål, indeed.
