If you need to go to bathroom pop over to elbert or one of the bathrooms along the road/way to get to the trailhead. Otherwise be sure to plan on packing out what you pack in. Trail is actually 14.5 miles per 14ers.com. So be prepared that this is longer than what all trails states. This is the standard route for this peak. This trail is well maintained and in good shape. Trail is currently in summer conditions. Basically this is just a REALLY LONG trail with a lot of elevation gain. There is nothing technical about it. When you get to the ridge there is still a pretty well defined trail. You will have to step over some rocks but nothing bad. The inclining meadow leading up to the ridge though seems to go on forever! Bring plenty of water, food, O2, and be prepared. If you are bringing your dogs. Pack out their poop bags! Also keep them on a leash! Saw pica, marmots and some birds i had not seen before. No goats though. I did this in 6 hours total hiking time but was moving at a fairly fast clip.

I hiked Ute Trail back in September, and wow what a hike! While it was very strenuous (especially…read morefor someone like me from flat Nebraska), the views along the way were well worth it. I'd consider myself an active person, but this seemingly never-ending trail sure kicked my butt! However, my friend who is new to hiking was able to complete it (even though it was really tough on her!), so I wouldn't completely rule it out if you're not a regular hiker. We took the trail all the way up to the Sundeck where the food was mediocre, but the hike was rewarding in itself. The great news is that there's a gondola that can take you back down the mountain, and let me tell you, there is nothing better than sitting in a gondola facing a gorgeous view and letting your exhausted legs rest from the long hike. If you ever get the chance to hike here, I would recommend going in the Fall when the leaves change color!

This place was…read morewonderful - they took me in as a visitor and were so incredibly kind, accommodating, and just family-like. I got a great workout, especially up in those mountains, and I would love to find another gym like this in my new location. I think the thing that moved me the most was the fundraiser they had for a member with disabilities while I was there, and it just kind of solidified the nature of the place. Leadville itself is a gem. I know a lot of the long-term residents don't feel that way (as in any town), but as a visitor who travels a lot and stays long-term in places, I want to say that this town is my favorite in the US for its personality, its honesty, its residents, its community, its location, its history, its quirkiness and the fact that you can just relax and enjoy. When I retire, this will be where I go to.

I was ready for a change and Jamie came in and helped me turn things around. We started small by reorganizing my linen closet and getting rid of towels (which we donated to the animal shelter!) Eventually I went through areas of my apartment I had been avoiding and let go down of things I had been holding on to for years. It was helpful to have her there, reinforcing the spirit of non-attachment and coming up with solutions for organizing the things I did keep. Since Jamie's Move Space Magic - I've found it easier to put things back in their place and keep surfaces clean. My space feels lighter and instead of being a place that at times felt stagnant/ overwhelming, it's becoming my sanctuary!

We had concerns about driving someplace far due to current road conditions and also doing snowshoeing in an area that was beyond our ability due to how much snow was out there. However, we still wanted a challenging workout in a beautiful scenic environment. Erik was THE PERFECT guide to give us EXACTLY what we were looking for AND MUCH MORE!!! Erik picked us up at our hotel and supplied us with a brand new type of light snowshoe that was really incredible, he wrapped a light fanny pack around us with organic, ionized water (with more he carried if needed) and a waffle cookie bar for added energy. There was also organic HOME-MADE chocolate chip cookies he had made for us and gave us a bag, for during and after our time with him. He took us to ABSOLUTELY gorgeous trails that offered us the incredible scenic views we were hoping to get, with trails that were perfectly matched to our ability. In addition, Erik made us feel safe with all of his knowledge about proper guide protocol, his background of the area, his guide certifications, and his perfect ability to understand our athletic level and line-up an incredible day around it. There is no other company you should be looking at for ALL of your snow sporting needs other than Sun Dog Athletics. This review cannot do this professional organization justice and express the level of expertise by the owner Erik on a multitude of levels, all of which I can't even fit in to write about in this review, without making this too long of a write-up.
