It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this little gem tucked away in the mid-north of the Flinders Ranges is amazing. Outside, it looks like a small service station, with pumps for fuel for vehicles, and inside, is a small general store with canned and packet food available, along with a small amount of souvenirs. They sell lunch, breakfast and dinner meals too, all fresh and probably delicious.
I say probably delicious, as I'm basing this entirely on my lunch. I had the hamburger with the lot (minus egg and beetroot) and it was quite possibly the best hamburger I've ever had in my life. The pattie was juicy and tender, the bacon was crisp, the tomato and lettuce fresh and tasting like actual tomato and lettuce, not like the watered down versions seen so often in the supermarkets. The ketchup was plentiful and the cheese was tasty and the fried onions were done to perfection. The three of us who had the burgers made only the noise of great food appreciation--"Mmm" all through eating.
Since returning home, I've been dreaming about that burger, it was truly the best that I've had. The service here too was great, quick and efficient, polite and friendly and the meals were brought out in a good period of time. I can't recommend this place enough. read more
