Nice & good pasta, but a little bit expensive compared to the performance. A glas of wine is almost expensive like a menu

Florentina - The tasteless pile hidden under the wienerschnitzel.

What a disappointment…read more We went here a part of a tour from a cruise. We were told we were going to be served an authentic German meal in Germany. The best part was that we were being served wienerschnitzel which is my favorite German food. My whole family was thrilled. However, our happiness was short lived. We were taken to Florentina. This is an Italian restaurant??? There are German restaurants in the German town of Lubeck, right? It's right in the heart of Germany. Once a powerful member of Hanseatic League would have a German restaurant. Whe said to each other that this restaurant should easily be able to prepare wienerschnitzel for us. At the restaurant, a waiter arrived at the table and asked us what we wanted to drink. Since we had done a lot of walking on this tour of Lubeck (plus my wife and kids were pushing me in a transport chair due to my recent back surgery, neck fusion surgery and stomach issues) we asked for water to get us a little highdration. When the waiter arrived at the table with the water he also had a beer on his tray. One of my sons who is of legal drinking age in Germany said, thank you for the water. Can I please order a local German beer now as well? The waiter said, you get one beverage, and walked away. There was no I'll have to charge you for it or anything like that. We are in Germany. You would think that many guests would like to try a local German Beer not readily available back home? Tap water must really be expensive here. When the food arrived, this quickly went from being a great restaurant that was also serving German food to, Oh....my..... God this is horrible. I can't eat this. The wienerschnitzel was inedible. It tasted like plain bread crumbs and cooking oil. The meal was completely without any flavor or taste. Squeezing a lemon on it didn't help. Salt only brought it the taste of the cooking oil. Nothing made available to us could save this veal. I guess sometimes bad is just bad and this was the worst. The potatoes and other vegetables that were hidden under the wienerschnitzel were tasteless as well. It was the worst restaurant meal I've had in as long as I can remember. After the waiter collected our plates of weinersnitzel we were wondering what dessert we were going to be offered. To add to the meals disappointment, that never happened. We were never offered dessert. As we were sitting there with an empty table we were told by the tour guide that if we wanted we could order coffee at our cost. However, no one from the restaurant came to our table to take the order. We sat at the empty table for over 20 minutes with no dessert, and now no coffee. For my family and I the ambiance of Florentina is being in an Italian restaurant when you were told you are going to eat a German meal. Then you are given the worst German meal you've ever had. My 3 still growing 20ish year old sons never waste any food. Especially, when they are excited about what they are about to eat. They all returned full plates of food to the kitchen as trash. My wife and I did the same as well. When this happens to a meal we were all excited about you know it's bad. When we were leaving we walked past the wait staff. We went to say goodbye to acknowledge their work. However, not one of the staff would look at us to say goodbye. It must be the Italian-German restaurant style. Italy was never like this. Avoid this place. What a disappointment. I can't imagine their Italian selections being any better.

The lumpia and ukoy were fantastic starters and were incredibly tasty and crunchy. The chicken inasal was sizzling, juicy and flavorful. We also had the lechon kawali, which is probably one of the best, if not the best, lechon kawali I've had--the skin was crispy and the pork super tender. The sauce on top was also quite special. I ended that night with leche flan and ube macapuno panna cotta. During my next visit, I had the oxtail kare kare, which was quite delicious and peanut buttery, just the way I like it. I then tried the chicken rebosado for the first time ever and it was incredible! Honestly, I was a bit upset that I've lived so long without trying such a tasty dish. The chicken was coated with a delicious sweet sauce and the meat was very juicy and tender. On top of their great food, their drinks were also very well done. The best espresso martini I've had. The servers were incredibly attentive, friendly, and kind. They truly go out of their way to make sure your time with them is special. This absolutely makes sense once you meet Chef Larry, who despite being super busy in the kitchen took time out to check in all of his guests. The restaurant itself was conveniently located and the vibe was quite relaxing. This is a place where you want to take your time, enjoy great food, drinks, and be treated well. I will definitely be back when I return to the area. I highly recommend this place to everyone--Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike!
