On the métro, the station is at the Eastern end of where where Lines 1 and 5 follow common tracks. On Line 1, it is between Schuman and Montgomery. On Line 5, between Schuman and Thieffry. On the railway, it is on lines S4 and S7. The station is close to the Parc du Cinquantenaire.

There is also a lack of shops, so no syrupy coffee to help you pass the boredom away. What really gets me is... when the escalators break down which seems to be at least once a week. It's gotta be the deepest metro station on the system, so you're buggered when you've walked up them. On the ticketing concourse, there are staffed and automated ticket vending machines and the usual ticketing contactless scanners at the turnstiles. De Brouckère metro station is named after a Belgian nobleman who was mayor of the city from 1848 until his death in 1860. According to the wiki, he was responsible for major urban renewal in the city, including the creation of water mains and the first boulevards in Brussels. The station is part of the run where Lines 1 and 5 overlap, between Sainte-Catherine and Brussels-Central stations.

If you walk down the stairs, they are behind the stairs. There is no small size. The middle size is only good for a backpacks. For carry on size luggage, you need at least a L size, which is 9 euro for L size. There are bigger sizes, which will cost more. The instructions are clearly stated in the locker room. No staff are there to help you. Credit card is accepted.

It's a subway station, same as others. I didn't encounter the issues that others documented. It was clean and the signage was simple and there didn't seem to be any smell of urine. I'm guessing that either they've cleared it up, or I'm immune. Stairs from street level to ticketing level and more stairs from there to the platforms. There is also a pair of lifts.

It's been an interesting experience over the past 3 years, seeing Schuman Metro station being…read moretransformed from a construction site full of concrete walls to the marble and polished looking place it is now. As of October 2015, you can see the lovely pale gold marble on both the stations' floors and walls and its beautiful structure emerging like a butterfly from its cocoon - there is still work to be done, buts it's getting there with its cathedral ceilings and gleaming lights. My fave station in the Brussels metro station still remains Stockel, with its Tintin cartoons, but Schuman reminds me a bit of Grand Central in NYC, which is maybe what indeed it was aiming for, considering it is the station stop for the EU institutions.

It's a two platform station, and they aren't accessible to each other from inside the station. That means if you get on the wrong platform, and you've already paid your fare, you have to go back outside, go to the correct platform, and pay again. Ticket machines only take coins, not notes. So if all you have on you are Euro notes, or a non-EU credit card, you're screwed. Try doing that when you're pressed for time to get to the train station and you are scrambling to find coins and make your train.
