There are regular instore offers and tastings and the staff are really helpful.

Being a Simply Food store, it is much smaller than your typical Marks and Spencer department store and is the only branch remaining in Wigan now, following the closure of their town centre branch. Considering this is a small store, they did have a relatively good amount of stock, including fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy and meals, I did find the Frozen section to be rather poor, which wasn't down to the supply issues which is currently causing havoc on the UK supply chain, but simply down to having very little freezer space, which mainly consisted of desserts. The staff around the store were helpful, the lady that helped me was very apologetic when she couldn't find what I was looking for, but still tried her best to try and help me find the mini chicken kievs (Be sure to try them by the way, they're gluten-free and one of my favourite Marks and Spencer products!) On the Marks and Spencer website, this is listed as their "Stretford Food Hall" location, likely to avoid confusion with their store at Westfield London which is also known as White City. I came here looking to grab a few specific items and was able to find two of the three items that I was looking for. The store was well staffed including staff members on the shop floor who seemed helpful; I originally had to ask a staff member to help me find some hot chocolate sachets, but sadly they did not appear to stock them at this location. Despite being unable to find the hot chocolate sachets, the selection in the store was good for most areas including dairy, meat and fresh produce. The store is easy to find what you're looking for, and it's also fairly easy to get in and out quickly using the Marks and Spencer app. You're able to scan and bag items as you're walking around the store, before paying using your mobile device and leaving the store, which saves so much time queuing. I did have to end up going to a staffed checkout anyway due to purchasing an item with a security tag, but it took no time at all to get this sorted, again with a friendly staff member. Due to the size of the store, it doesn't have a Cafe or Toilets as you'd expect from the larger Marks and Spencer locations, if you're looking for a toilet you may find one in a nearby restaurant such as Nando's. 4* - Pretty good Marks and Spencer overall, clean, easy to follow with a good quality of service and selection.

I find the goods are a little on the pricey-side compared to what you would pay in neighbouring town's stores such as Tesco and Asda. Staff aren't too bad, there is one member of staff though who spends more time talking and holding up queues rather than getting people through the check-outs quickly. I would avoid shopping here in the hours 8am-9am and 3pm-4pm as the kids from the school opposite descend on the store and staff don't seem to do anything to keep them from behaving.

MediaCity General Store is a new Convenience Store located inside Media City, while the store is a…read moregood size, I do find the aisles to be pretty narrow which means it is often single-file and difficult to get across them, especially when staff are re-stocking which often takes the whole aisle out of bounds. They do have some nice products including a number of Co-Op own branded products, alcohol and a coffee area, I do find the products here to be considerably more expensive though so it is a little pricey. The store still has a nice feel to it and is one of the only stores of its kind following the sad closure of Booths nearby. 3*

The Fresh section admittedly wasn't too bad, in terms of ready meals and soups, which was one of the few parts of the store, where they're actually leading the way in Burnley and not trailing behind. There is a McDonald's and ALDI store nearby too, the location isn't bad within Burnley and can be easily accessed from the town centre as a pedestrian or via car. The store was clean, and in terms of overall feel, it was pretty much a typical ASDA. 3* - Not the best supermarket in town, but not terrible either.

Asda is goo if you go after 9pm because they drop there prices immensley on almost everything so you can really get a good bargain! I thnk asda do a great range of clothes for everybody and specially the kids. I usually pick up tshirts and jeans for my son for under a fiver. I think the toys in here are really good as well. Great quality and a very good price. The dvd and cd selection is great. They always get the latest releases and they always beat hmv for prices.
