For a corner shop, the prices are fairly reasonable - especially for sparkling water - and the staff are ultra-friendly. So much so that even hangover ridden you still get a lovely smile and good morning. It may not sound like much but sometimes it's just what you need to set you up for a long day at the office!

Popular with kids in the mornings heading to school. Has a good choice of birthday cards and other types of cards and balloons, banners and stuff for parties. A basic choice of presents you can buy, maybe good for a last minute addition. Staff are really helpful if you cant find what you are looking for. Except for one guy who has to be the most miserable man i have ever met in a newsagents,(mistakingly didnt give me £2.75 change once, and denied it! the manager soon sorted it out though)) he doesnt smile, never says anything to you, and looks generally unhappy to be there,he also literally snatches the money from your hand. He usually only works in the mornings, so at least he is gone for most customers later on in the day. That one gripe aside its a great wee shop and really handy.

Despite its size, it is well stocked, with food, sweets and milk- even if a simple request does send the owner scuttling off into his stock room. Although I don't use the shop daily, he seems to recognise me and remember both my milk and paper order. He has a few strange items on the shelves, the sort of thing that a larger shop would stock, perhaps, but there is no denying that this is a friendly, if cramped local newsagent. It isn't really that convenient for anywhere, except the local laundrette: that might account for the roaring trade he appears to do in magazines, especially puzzle ones. In an emergency, it doubles as a stationers, although it is best to avoid those times that the primacy kids turn up for their penny mixes.

It's not the original owners but I'm glad the new owners, Mohammed, decided to keep the name. I like going in for number stickers, they're the only place I know of who does it. It's when you find a nice card and it's a special birthday for someone and it doesn't have the number on the card. They have silver or gold ones, I always opted for silver. Then you can stick the numbers on the card and make it a e.g. 30th, 40th, 60th etc. They are also a (PP) Paypoint and I thought I could pick up my Network Flexi-10 First Bus Pass, as the First Bus Lanarkshire & Glasgow websites say I can buy at any Paypoint shop. Unfortunately they had never heard of it. I was totally disappointed, as I've never been able to buy this type of bus pass in Lanarkshire. I always end up having to go into Glasgow to buy, which isn't always handy. They are also now licenced so open much later now. They also expanded the shop many years ago making it much bigger as it just used to be a counter as soon as you walked in. It's much better and they also have a wee section for cards and wrapping paper Apart from no network bus pass option it's a no bad wee shop and they are always friendly and willing to help you out where they can. Like I said, handy for any nick knacks you may need.
