I recently had a few projects lined up and was on a tight schedule (approximately 1 week) to have a…read moresidewalk installed around the perimeter of my home. Very few concrete companies were available to work within my timeline. And to make matters worse, rain was in the forecast. However, Victor of Vic's Concrete LLC answered the call. He informed me of the weather forecast, which I was already aware, but said then said he could work around the rainy days. I was intrigued and listened to his plan.
So, on Sunday, May 29th, due to the rain scheduled to come in on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Victor suggested that he set the forms on Tuesday, and pour the concrete on Friday or Saturday, depending on the rain. I thought to myself that that may not work for me. I informed Victor that, due to my faith, I cannot have anyone working for me Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. Victor assured me that if he poured the concrete by Friday, 8am, he would be done by 2-3pm, the latest, depending on the rain. Victor further stated that after he poured the concrete, he would water proof it. I gave the 'ok'.
Now, for any of you that have read my past reviews, you know I sometimes have a tendency to be a bit "extra". As such, I asked Victor if he could pour concrete around the sprinkler heads, closing them off, rather than me having to relocate the sprinklers. Victor agreed to accommodate. I also asked him to add drainage pipes in the garden beds to detour water away from the beds and, more importantly, the foundation of the house. For a small additional cost, Victor once again agreed to accommodate. I'd actually forgotten to ask Victor to pour concrete around the backflow preventer, similar to the sprinklers. However, Victor had clearly been paying attention to what I'd been asking for, saw my vision and instinctively followed suit by creating a neat barrier around the backflow preventer. He'd done everything I asked and then some. After it was all said and done, I wrote the man a check and enjoyed the beauty of my new sidewalk. I'll admit, I was nothing less than impressed.
That is until I ran my sprinklers. I noticed that Zone 5 was inoperative. When I went outside to see why they would not function, low and behold, I discovered water gushing from the ground. I turned off the sprinklers, and shined a light down the hole in the ground, only to observe a broken pvc pipe within, where one of the concrete form stakes had been hammered. Needless to say, I was a bit upset. I was ready to put a stop payment on the check, but first contacted Victor to address the matter and see what he would do. Mind you, this was Saturday night. Victor responded in approximately 1 hour and informed me that he would come back out at 9am the next morning. Well, the next morning, Sunday, it was pouring rain again. I honestly did not expect Victor to show. Next thing I knew, my phone was ringing and Victor asking me to run the sprinklers so he could locate the leak. This guy is a soldier. Come rain or shine, he is on the job. He fixed the broken pvc and everything is now functional and looking good.
I have to say. I've seen my share reliable contractors and those that I would no longer even trust to change a light bulb. Victor's one of the good ones. We had a brief discussion during the job in which he told me that he had taken over his father's concrete business, and I just know that by Victor's work ethic, his father would be proud of the job he's doing. I would highly recommend Victor of Vic's Concrete LLC for your concrete needs. Thanks Victor!
