Stopped in on a whim to see if they had stock on a specific item I was looking for. Stock on hand was rather slim pickings. A quick computer search and I was told the firearm I was seeking would be in shop within 2 days. Happily paid the price quoted as it was aggressively priced to compete with online shops. Item arrived within 24hours as they called promptly to tell me it was in shop. Headed in that afternoon and was out within 10 minutes. Really pleased with the overall buying process, the store vibe and customer service. One side note: Some tacticool dude was at the counter muzzle sweeping everyone as I walked in. The only "Elite" thing about Modern Elite Firearms is how they can make the experience of walking into their store about as awkward as possible. Our quick and disappointing experience was short lived when all three of the employees made zero effort to even say "hello" as we entered. There were a few nice items in the racks, and I may have been willing to spend nearly $1,000 on weapons, parts and accessories, but the three men disregarded our presence and continued to show awe into the pop up screen of a google machine. I had the guys from here switch out an upper receiver from my AR15 and these guys blow it out the park. Not only did they do a great job, they had in done in less then a day. Super informative, walked in to ask a few questions about a hand guards for my riffle. The owner had more answers than I had questions. I had gone to different shop and none of them had the answers I was looking for and tried to sell me something I wasn't looking for. The owner explained to me how to install the piece and asked me to bring my riffle back before making the purchase to make sure I was getting the right piece. While researching handguns online, I also searched for a reputable gun store with fair prices and good customer service. I'm happy to say I found both at Modern Elite Firearms. During my initial visit, I was greeted by Chris. He was very helpful with info on the two firearms I was interested in. After deciding on one, he explained the ordering process and turnaround time. Chris placed my name on a contact list for the second firearm which wasn't immediately available from the supplier. He even suggested that I try other local stores for availability, but I decided to wait until the firearm is available through Modern Elite. After processing a deposit, I was informed it would take approx. two days for the firearm to arrive. Sure enough, 48 hours later I received a call from Chris, informing me that my new firearm had arrived. Upon arriving at the store, Chris was busy with a customer, so a lady who works with him greeted me and assisted with the final paperwork and delivery. Chris joined us in conversation and provided some additional info regarding the firearm and required ammo. The entire process was painless and stress-free. At NO time was I pressured to buy anything else. I could've purchased this firearm for less online, but the price difference wasn't significant and I also had the pleasure of supporting a local business. Their prices are more than fair. If you're just shopping around or in the market for a new firearm, parts or gunsmithing, I'd highly recommend a visit to Modern Elite Firearms. I find them to be professional, friendly and efficient. I went shopping in San Antonio for a new pistol and was very dissapointed in my experience. Then I walked into modern elite, the owner was behind the counter helping another customer. After he finished he started to work with me. I found him to be very personal and went out of his way to help me. He ordered the sig suaer I wanted since he didn't have it in stock. I gave him half down and the next day the gun arrived at the store. I went to pick it up and very pleased. I've been researching the AK platform for months now, learning how the system operates. I am a soldier and by trade the AR platform is my base but always have been intrigued by the ultimate bad guy/commie rifle. Once I decided based on reliability and cost on the WASR 10, the next phase was to find a good deal. After searching high and low, found that MEF had the best price in San Antonio. Came by and placed my order with Chris, the owner, and today I picked up my 2018 production WASR 10. I let Chris know up front that I would inspect the rifle before accepting. He said no problem and that if I found out any functional problems he would send it back for me. This is the finest example of a Local Gun Shop (LGS) that I've ever come across. Chris runs the place, and is very relaxed and personable - an Air Force vet, and a really nice guy. They don't have 53 hagrillion guns on display, but don't let that fool or dismay you: their online shopping tools let you find an amazing number of pistols, rifles, and revolvers. John, a twenty-something who works there, is very knowledgeable and helpful with any inquiries. His love of firearms is obvious. Their FFL transfer charge is very low ($20 as of this review). I called in advance to get an idea of their interest in purchasing one of my pistols. I provided the specs to the firearm, explained how much I was asking for and was told we could likely work out a deal. I visited a few hours later walked away very unhappy. The guy helping me was condescending as if I did not know anything about firearms. I was insulted by the offer and his tactics in trying to convince me how much he would have to sell my pistol for when I knew what fair market value was... I would have appreciated being told they were not interested or not able to purchase a higher end firearm rather than insulting my intelligence. Firearms are a hobby for me and this was the first and last visit I will make to this shop. I'll keep my business with a couple other gun shops I've had great experiences with even if means driving further as it seems like shops outside of Loop 1604 on north side do honest business unlike the guy I dealt with today at modern elite. read more
