I remembered a friend mentioning The Computer Man, based in Essex, who visited your home. I emailed the guy and within 20 minutes received a reply with an offer of visiting in the afternoon. WOW. Then, a phone call later, the engineer rang to say that if it was convenient he could visit within 30 minutes. He arrived dead on time, diagnosed the problem as a faulty hard drive. A replacement was fitted and an upgrade to the RAM. Reinstall of Windows 10 and other drivers. All within an hour. Could you get more satisfaction. A reasonable price with, I noticed on the invoice, a discount on labour charges of 10%, because I am an 'old geezer'. Thanks, Matthew, for a great service. Any time I called (which was often), I was always promised that someone would call back, but this never happened. When I did call (during the hours that Josh is supposed to there), I could hear is Josh (the so-called engineer) in the background saying, "tell him I'm not here." When my iPhone screen was fixed (which is why I had taken it in) but nothing else worked, they had the cheek to ask for another £30 to repair something that was working before I took it in. As for the MacBook, they said (after over 3 months) that they could repair it. They never even looked at it, the case was never opened. Smart Phone Repair started up well, but since they started renting a space to a so-called engineer named Josh, the place has gone completely downhill. This is a shame as the owner of the shop is a good man it's just falling apart with the staff. I do apologise to all the people that I have recommended Smart Phone Repair to - and there have been dozens over the last few years. It's gone from the best phone/computer repair shop to the worst I have ever dealt with and I have been in the IT Industry for over 35 years both here and in Australia.
