Dave and his skilful team got straight to the problem and fixed this for 1 hour labour plus parts circa £120. It is really refreshing to find an honest and highly skilled team at reasonable prices and I highly recommend. Dave is a great communicator and kept me informed on progress obtaining the parts. They also assisted with obtaining a new locking wheel nut set at a reasonable price after another garage replacing tyres forgot to give mine back.

Kipling on the other hand decided to charge me over £300 for a new alternator (2 days prior to this, breakdown repair services ran a diagnostic on my car and advised that my alternator was fine and that I would most likely need a new battery). Rather than change the battery, Kipling opted for the more expensive option. Handing me back my car STILL FAULTING. As a so called professional garage this is negligent as the car is unsafe to drive. They're VW Audi specialists, but they still don't seem that upmarket. Of course, from a garage you need them to be good at fixing cars, not customer service, but the whole place still seems a bit dirty and 'matey'. Still, they did the tyres in a couple of hours (longer than they said they would, but it was still pretty quick) and the price was apparently quite reasonable, especially for central Oxford. You can see them working on the cars, which is always reassuring and strangely hypnotic to watch. The entrance isn't at all obvious, but just drive into the warehouse-style building, park up and someone will come and help.

Within half an hour of arriving at the garage the problem was accurately diagnosed and as the spare part was unavailable, a temporary replacement part was fashioned from spares - what mastery! I am happy to say that the car now runs beautifully. The mechanics were very friendly and we discussed the car throughout the job; I felt extremely satisfied with the level of service, so much so that I have booked it in for another unrelated electrical fault on Monday. Not only is it great value for money, they are very honest and reliable as well as very nice people - and they really don't want you to spend more money than absolutely necessary. We have pitched up quite a few times with minor problems, eg not being able to change a blown headlight bulb, and they have sorted it straight away. Very loyal to their repeat customers.
