Both myself and my significant other have given Mary Nelson a chance in counseling us for anxiety and PTSD related concerns. I had an ok experience but she is definitely more concerned about money vs. treatment of patient. You almost feel as if your medical care is not a concern. Her professionalism is subpar. As an employee of a medical facility some of her behaviors and her comments make me cringe. Physicians would NEVER ask a patient to change before coming to an appointment. Whether they came from work or are homeless care is to be received regardless of patients current physical ability. She made the patient feel as if they were disgusting, patient would have been more than happy to go home and change however they do not get off of work until 5pm and that's the same time the appointment is. You would think given the field she is in she would understand the difficulty in trying to balance work and health care needs. This is highly inappropriate. She also made the patient sign a waiver stating they would not bring Covid19 into her office. With some patients being asymptomatic and some Covid19 testing giving false negatives.. how can you pressure a patient into promising they will not bring a virus into your office? You are in the health care field.. if this is such a concern video visits should be in place until you are comfortable bringing patients in. Before I used to recommend M. Nelson Psychological Counseling, now I can say I would not recommend this provider AT ALL. Not to mention during both of our visits she does not enter the room until 15-20 minutes past appointment time then stops her session with about 10 minutes left. When insurance is paying for 45-60 minute sessions and she is only providing 30 minutes.. this cant be legal? Also during sessions she will leave the appointment room and go into her office IN THE MIDDLE OF EMDR!! How are you supposed to concentrate when she is constantly moving around and in and out of her office. Her concern seems to be more so with money/payments and making sure you know all her many many rules for canceling. I do not recommend her what so ever. read more

She was more concerned with getting paid than with my treatment. Spent more time on the phone with "the insurance company" than with me at the beginning of the session. (Why didn't she just tell me to come later??) I got over charged, and then spent months having to get that straightened out. Not recommended! read more
