Terrible attempt at a pun but absolutely amazing photographer…read more When my fiance and I were shopping around for photographers for our wedding, we had a few names in mind but met with Kaan and KB Productions first. Not even joking, after we met with him, we were sold. He took the time to show us some of his work and videos and talked to us about whats important to us and how our day looks and what we would value the most out of their work. There was never any sales pressure and it felt more like a meet and greet to see if we would be able to work together. We contracted his team for our wedding for 14 hours with 2 videographers and 2 photographers, over 4 different venues (hotel getting ready, hotel for tea ceremony, park for wedding party photos, church for the ceremony and restaurant for the reception). Along with this package came a free engagement session. We had already had our engagement pictures done but we figured it would be nice to just have another set as well. Due to timing though, we ended up doing the session a week before the wedding. We weren't expecting to get these photos back until after the wedding but Kaan was able to get us the pictures within 48 hours because he knew that we wanted to use one or two of the pictures blown up at the tea ceremony and reception. It was also a great opportunity to see what worked for us as a couple and Kaan's style as a photographer. The team was very organized, they had asked for a schedule of the day so that they could be properly prepared and also who were the important people so they knew where to keep most of their focus when they needed to. In true bride style, we were running behind in the morning so we weren't quite ready for the team when they got to the hotel room but they made the most of it by taking beautiful pictures of the dresses, shoes, rings, flowers and all other essentials laying about. I appreciated that they didn't just sit idly by waiting for us but were looking for things they could shoot both with stills and video. Kaan asked if there were any changes to the day or anything else that he needed to know. I asked him to let me know after the tea ceremony was over if we had time to chat with the family or if we needed to go. He let us know how much time we had afterwards and then very politely reminded us when we needed to go so we could get away from family who were more than happy to keep talking our ears off hehe. The pictures of me in my dress are breathtaking (with the editing they did of course). I also didn't even remember that they took pictures of my mom helping me with the sash on my dress or just small moments like that while getting ready which I am grateful that we have digitally forever. The pictures we took in the park, I was a little skeptical about because it was RAINING AND CLOUDY! The pictures we got back, you wouldn't even be able to tell that it was a dreary day. The video you can though, you can't really hide the wind heh. But just amazing the work we received back because the weather was really not cooperating with us. The pictures at the church were gorgeous and natural. We appreciated all the family photos we took afterwards even though I know Kaan's team was STARVING. When we got to the reception, my feet were pooped so I was hiding away until the reception fully started. I had thought that Kaan's team were snacking away due to shear hunger and exhaustion at this point but they kept going! They were taking pictures of the guests having fun and hanging out, which I really appreciate since let's face it, I really didn't have time to spend with everyone who came to the wedding unfortunately. We have gorgeous shots of the speeches and first dance, cake etc. The wedding video that they produced is amazing. The pictures overall were great and a really good mix of classic, serious, fun and of course goofy. Of course I'm biased because I'm in most of it but it really is something that I will cherish for years to come. One thing I really appreciated was the fact that the team stayed after the 14 hours were up. Like most weddings, the reception was running a bit behind so the first dance, cake cutting and bouquet toss were delayed. They still stayed after the time alloted though because they knew these were super important moments. Likely embarassing moments for my new husband and me, but hey, moments we wanted captured for life ha. Kaan and his team were very patient with all the random delays and issues that came up during the day and dealing with frazzled brides on the day of is a challenge in itself. They were respectful and creative and we will appreciate it for the rest of our lives as we look at the photos and watch the video.

After quite a lot of searching, my DH and I decided to go with BLS as our engagement/wedding…read morephotographer. We felt that their website showcased the types of photographs we were looking for and I had an immediate rapport with Juliette, our photographer. Our package price was $2800, taxes in, the 2015 price because of when we booked. A similar package is going for $3300+taxes now. We had our engagement photos in the summer and we were happy with how they came out. I felt like Juliette could have done a better job at fixing a few minor things I wasn't aware of, like bra straps showing, or posing me in such a way that was flattering. There are a handful of images that are amazing, but there are some that are just so completely unflattering of me, I can't believe she put them in the final set. On the wedding day, the photographers arrived early to shoot the groom and groomsmen in my MIL's room suite. My groom wasn't even remotely ready when they started taking photos and I just felt like they could have gotten some shots of the guys getting ready together, instead of just him by himself. The shots of the groomsmen are great, but they're all incredibly similar. I would have liked to see more variation in the locations, types of shots, etc. When I arrived at the hotel, the photographers had already gotten into my room (how, I don't know) and had taken photos of my wedding dress and shoes without the special hanger I had purchased, which was slightly annoying. The photos of my dress were, frankly, a let down. My dress sparkled like crazy and all the photos are in front of a lit window that shows NONE of my favourite features of the dress. There were a TON of pictures of my shoes and my grooms shoes (???). There were three photographers in the room and they RUSHED us. First off, I'm the bride, everyone can wait! Second of all, I didn't need added stress on MY WEDDING DAY. We had plenty of time to get everything done and they really stressed me out. They did get some good photos but absolutely NONE of me and my mom and she came down specifically to get me in my dress. They also felt kind of intrusive. I had hoped for a few quiet moments with my girls to get ready and yet the room was absolute chaos until we left to get photos done. Not what I had envisioned. Our first look was perfect, but the photographer didn't bother to scout any locations - we did it in a hallway in the hotel. The photos turned out great but primarily because you're focused on our faces. I would have liked to get photos with each bridesmaid individually, but those were never taken. I figured she'd have the vision to do that and she didn't. The best part about the photographers was that I didn't even KNOW they were there during the ceremony and reception. We did get some really good shots of the ceremony but after that, things went downhill. I had asked for formal family photos and I'd say about 80-90% of these photos are unusable because either someone's face is obscured or someone's eyes are closed. I was super disappointed because my dad's family came a long way and we were looking forward to the first family photo in probably 30 years, and they're unusable. The photographers rushed through these unnecessarily - the cocktail hour was going on downstairs, we had plenty of time to get these photos done right. The few things I did specifically ask for, like photos of the decor, were included and looked quite nice. They didn't get a single photo of the head table, which I had done up on purpose, and I was disappointed. The photos of our guests are poor - they used an exposure/setting that put one person in focus and the person beside them out of focus. So I have pictures of my sisters-in-law side-by-side, one where one is in focus and the other is not. They got almost no photos of my choreographed dance with my dad, even though I specifically mentioned it, and all the photos are meh. I felt like they could have done a better job with three photographers to catch more moments of that dance, since it was such a special moment for us. I wanted more formal photos of me and my husband alone - the day was about us and I felt like there were only the photos from earlier in the afternoon, NONE after we were actually married besides our entrance/us at the head table. The best photos of our guests are from the guests themselves, BLS didn't do a great job on guest shots during the reception. Don't even get me started on the 'custom wedding website' we were supposed to get. I ended up having to do it myself because no one would get back to me from BLS. They weren't timely on accepting our etransfer payments either. Overall, I really can't recommend BLS after my experience. I had high expectations and we paid a lot for photos that I feel are underwhelming and we had a very stressful start to my wedding day. Their website is misleading, most of the photos are NOT from the Toronto Team. They took a LONG time to get our photos to us as well.

Hiring a highly skilled wedding photographer who was not going to resort to the "typical" bridal…read morephoto shoot poses was very important to us, as my husband is not very comfortable in front of the camera. One look at Julia Park's website and I knew her unique, fresh, elegant, and thoughtful photographic style was a good match for us. However, when I met Julia I knew she was our photographer! She takes the time to get to know the couple. Not just their wedding style/theme, but she genuinely wants to know about how you met, what you enjoy doing in your spare time and works the unique aspects of your relationship into your photography sessions.
