Having been to Macado's before and likie it. We decided to go back while visiting Radford. We arrived shortly after 1 pm to a fairly empty restaurant. The host attempted to seat us near the door in a raised dining area that held 8 tables. 2 were occupied and 6 were empty but completely un-bussed! We were asked to wait a moment while a table was cleared. And by the time we finished our meal, 1 table had yet to be cleared. No sense of urgency here. The menu is very large and we always have trouble choosing but are always very glad when our sandwiches arrive. Haven't ever been disappointed with our meals but think this place could be better Managed. 2 stars for service and cleanliness. 4 stars for food read more

I have never been to a macado's or even any restaurant with ad bad of service as this place does. The servers take forever and I don't really understand because you're making sandwiches half the time. The waitress messed up 2 of our orders and then when our food was served she failed to remember they didn't have the item. I usually do not care about service this much but it's always this bad. When the checks came most were messed up and we had to wait 10 minutes just for her to come back. And then didn't leave a pen to sign the checks. Every time my family and I come here we have top notch service. There is a wait sometimes for our seats , but that is due to the popularity of the place itself. This place is constantly getting better. New remodel, heated porch with lounge chairs. They stay busy and the management over the last two years has noticeably changed in the best kind of way. The menu is huge, but filled with different varieties of sandwiches, pasta and Philly steaks. The cinnamon sensation is fantastic and a favorite that my daughter and I have been splitting since she was little. We look forward to seeing this treasure continue to grow and evolve. Coming up north on Rt. 81 with millions of other after the eclipse, we figured the Roanoke area of VA might be a decent place to find some decent foods at 10pm. So we used Yelp and found Macado's was open and looked reasonable.  We ordered 3 different kinds of wings and a Chicken Asian wrap. All were surprisingly good for a place that looks like it has only average bar food. Our only disappointment was the fries...the typical frozen fries that all look exactly the same that you would find at a diner that doesn't know fries can be a tasty main meal and not a cheap addition. I went to Macado's with my family after my brother's college basketball game at Radford University. We were immediately seated by the hostess. The restaurant was laid back for a Saturday night. Macado's has a lot of televisions throughout the restaurant. I ordered a steak & cheese sub with French fries. My steak & cheese sub was good. The bread was toasted very well. Macado's steak meat was cut thick not thinly sliced like some restaurant (PLUS). My French fries came out hot and crispy. The food was reasonably priced. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience. If you're in Radford, Macado's is a solid choice for watching sports and grabbing a bite to eat (American food). I give Macado's a 3.5 rating on my first visit. read more

The food here is ridiculously inconsistent. You can come one day and have a perfect meal then come back the next day, order the same dish, and it tastes so bad you don't even want to touch it. I usually order the grilled chicken ranch tacos because the first time I had them they were so delicious. Ever since that time, ordering them has been a pain. Some times they are still delicious, so I always try my luck. But there are also times when they're just so off. One time they came out, the chicken wasn't even sliced, it literally looked like a slab of frozen chicken, the romaine lettuce was not cut it was literally a big leaf just thrown on, with stringy, long, hard slaw and no ranch. In what world is that acceptable to send out when the cook knows it's supposed to be cut up chicken, with "asian cabbage", and sauce mixed in. They just really did not care at all that time. I have never sent a meal back though because I really wouldn't care to wait another thirty to forty minutes to receive subpar food. I dont know if it's the cooks or the manager or a little of both. No matter what day/time or how crowded the place is, you're looking at a long wait for food. We came one time to a practically empty restaurant and we waited ten minutes before a waitress even came to take our drink order and another thirty for our food - which were sandwiches. I really want to like it here, I always end up coming back because I'm hoping that day the good cook will be there. Just wish they would hire new cooks who are consistent. read more

As a local I hate to say it but the best thing about Macados is that the food flavor is consistent. The wait times for meals are long and they seem a bit understaffed. The last few times we ate in it took forever to even get a drink. My advice order and pick up or have a beverage at the bar and order to go. They have a large draft beer selection. read more

They have tons of specials on food and drinks throughout the week. They also have a ton of sandwiches to choose from. Prices are always good, as is the food. Service can slow down if it's busy, but that happens pretty much anywhere else. I always make time to stop here when I visit the old stompin' grounds. read more

My ID got denied here so I provided them with my old licence, my insurance card, and my debit card. They still denied me. I talked to the manager TJ who was incredibly rude and unprofessional. While I understand wanting to be careful considering they just lost their liqueur licence over serving underage people I am of the legal drinking age and provided then with ample proof. Fast service, decent food BUT, every time i've came I have had very terrible service. This last time stood out the most. The guy with the mustache just hates his job and I know nobody wants to have a waiter with a bad attitude the whole time. Last time when I came and had bad service the manager pretty much sucked too. I have lived in an area that had a Macado's all my life. It's mostly a sandwich place with wings and burgers and stuff. I used to really enjoy it because their sandwiches are pretty random and unique. However most of their food is brands you could buy at the store which is a down side. I have heard from multiple people that their Mac & Cheese is Stoffers, that just doesn't interest me. read more

A special for every night of the week. My personal favorite are Sunday and Monday 29 cent wings. A star off because the only place which you can watch tv (any sports) is in the smoking section. My lungs implore me to wait to return until smoking is illegal in resturants. read more

I have been going to Radford Macados since it opened and was in town recently and decided to visit. Should have known better than to wait for a table for 6 when Hostess told us they were down a server, but decided to wait anyway. BAD Decision...waited 15 mins for a waitress to get drinks and order...another 25 mins before food arrived...COLD...Hindenburg was toasted, but it had gotten cold, the only hot item was a cup of soup...other items, Babe Ruth, cheese Quesadilla were also cold....SO Disappointing read more

On a road trip down I81, our family stopped and had lunch at Macado's. The French onion soup is terrific. There are so many choices of sandwiches that everyone found their favorite on the menu. The potato salad was a pleasant surprise. Our waiter was on top of everything and very courteous. We will definitely come back if we are in the area. Highly recommend. read more

Both of my experiences at macados have been somewhat unpleasant. The service is horrible. My boyfriends food was amazing both times besides them putting tomato and extra onion when asked for none. Bartender was very rude. Im a local college student who had to get an updated license for a student loan and since I was over 21, yet, still under 26 at the time, my new license is horizontal. Because of this it took two bartenders, an interrogation using all six steps of the scientific method to determine whether or not it was in fact me on my license, and an act of congress to get a drink despite the fact that I've been here countless times and am probably older than the female bartender assuming my I.D. was not real. read more

I used to frequent Macados occasionally. The last time I went for Monday Night Wings I saw that they were remodeling. The walls were stripped of the usual memorabilia and had been painted with a faux marble finish. The once cozy nooks, fashioned from recycled doors, have been replaced by open seating. Granted, construction is in progress as of this writing but I did not like what I saw. The food was average, as usual. The service was atrocious: it took over an hour to get a dozen wings. I finally wound up taking them home. It remains to be seen if the completed refurb will resonate with customers. Right now, I'm not feeling it. read more
