I came here during the lunch rush on a Wednesday and the restaurant was packed. Ordering is done through 2 kiosks that's by the front door. I ordered 2 crispy chicken sandwiches, 1 spicy chicken sandwich, curly fries, and onion rings. Even with a packed restaurant, our food didn't take too long to be made. Since my son didn't want to dine in, we ended up taking the food home to enjoy. In terms of flavor, the chicken sandwiches were juicy with a slight cumin flavor but the batter was too thick (instead of "crispy", it was slightly on the hard side). As for the spicy chicken sandwich, it's actually not spicy. It's more like a "medium" at Dave's Hot Chicken. As for the sides, I would skip the onion rings. The quantity I received, does not justify the price I paid.

The restaurant was pretty empty on a Thursday evening. Only a few online orders got in the way of our order from being completed in under 10 minutes. Seating is plentiful too. I got the crispy chicken sandwich and a side of fries. The crispy chicken sandwich was super crispy and at the same time, surprisingly juicy. I would rate the sandwich a solid 8/10. However the fries were a complete let down. They were dry, and not seasoned at all. It was straight potato, deep fried and even the ketchup couldn't save them. I was pretty disappointed by them.

Heart broken that the San Mateo location in prime location of downtown San Mateo closed down, a little over a year. Glad this location is going strong! A bit of a drive but well worth it! Better than raising cane's and super duper! They are missing the macho sauce from San Mateo location. Glad the quality is consistent with the fried chicken menu items which is virtually the entire menu.

Hm got takeout since I love chicken sandwiches but this one was a miss. Probably just a preference thing but there are strong smells from the chicken that I've not experienced with Chickfila, Popeyes, or Dave's. And the sandwich is not cheap either I'd say it's actually probably the most expensive among them. For the price and taste I'md probs opt for one of the other three next time.

Macho Burger doesn't sell their flavored beef burgers anymore, just the Macho Cheeseburger. I was looking forward to trying their green chili pepper cheeseburger and black truffle cheeseburger. I ended up only getting the Macho Crispy Chicken Sandwich. It was indeed the crispiest chicken sandwich I ever had. My friend got one of their chicken wraps and the nuggets. She agreed it was one of the crispiest she had especially in the Bay Area. The nuggets has a slightly crispier outing than McD. This is an order at the kiosk and pick up at the counter type place. Your food comes on a tray and you bus your own table. They serve your food fast!

Macho Burger consistently delivers a really good chicken sandwich IMO. They season and fry the chicken exceptionally well, it's the perfect amount of scraggly-ness without scratching up the roof of your mouth. The chicken is juicy and flavorful too. One thing I love about their sandwiches is they're well constructed and don't fall apart - the buns have a nice sweetness to them without being overly dense. The fries remind me of McDonald's fries and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed these. +$5 to add on fries and drink, but it's a big size drink and they give you a generous portion of fries. My only note is the spicy chicken sandwich could be a bit spicier but that's my personal preference. Would highly recommend!

Mmmm. Not my thing. Seemed like it had good reviews so I thought maybe a good new lunch place. I love burgers. These were just quickly made and very cheap quality. Same with the fried chicken sandwich. Fries equally not that great. Clean place. Weird service. Order at the kiosk and pick up food when ready. No human interaction.

I really enjoyed their chicken wrap, but their other items (that we've tried) were just meh. We ordered a chicken kebab, beijing chicken wrap, spicy chicken sandwich, and some rattan pepper on the side. I noticed that they might've prioritized the to-go orders, because the big group of people who placed their food after us got their food way before us (we opted for dine-in). The wrap for the chicken wrap reminded me of the peking duck wraps, soft and thin, perfect balance with the sauce and the crispy chicken. The chicken sandwich was underwhelming. The buns weren't toasted, it was basic/thick. There was some flavor missing in the sandwich. The crispy chicken was juicy though.

My go-to order here is the Macho crispy chicken sandwich. The chicken is juicy, flavorful, and perfectly crispy, topped with just mayo and lettuce. It was served piping hot, with steam rising from the sandwich. I wish they allowed modifications though. I would skip the chicken skewers as they were about half meat half cartilage. I found it too hard to chew.

We tried Macho Burger on a Sat afternoon. We didn't realize it was mostly a chicken place until looking at the menu (not a bad thing though!). The restaurant had a few tables taken and ordering was simple with a touchscreen. We ordered: -Original Crispy Chicken Sandwich: the chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. This was pretty good. -Popcorn Chicken with Spicy Cumin: spicy cumin came on the side and was $0.75 extra. You kind of need the seasoning for the popcorn chicken. This place's sandwich did kind of remind me of like Popeyes/Chick-Fil-A. Tips: - the spicy cumin tasted good on the popcorn chicken and sandwich -They mostly sell chicken here, but I did see one beef burger on the menu. Overall, it was an okay fast food experience.

Driven by this place a couple times after the gym and finally got to try it. There's a small parking lot in the back. When you walk in, you order at a machine. There's a paper menu on the counter or virtual menu above on the TVs. There was a lot of indoor seating and a few outdoor seats. We took our order to go so keep that in mind. Spicy crispy chicken sandwich: 4/5, my boyfriend liked the flavor and the chicken was super crunchy. The bun was not soggy but he wishes that there were more sauce. It has some lettuce on the inside but only a few pieces Curly fries: 3/5, they give you a lot for a side order. It was cold by the time we ate it but we also took it to go. They gave us a few ketchup packets. Unlike the chicken, the fries were not crunchy. 2 pieces chicken thigh and leg: 3.5/5, the chicken was super crispy and flavorful but I just don't think I can justify it for the price. For $9, that's pretty expensive for the chicken itself. Fries and a drink are additional. I wish there was a dipping sauce for the chicken. 2 skewer chicken kabob: 1/5, not my favorite out of everything we ordered. The chicken lacked flavor. I think it had pieces of chicken and chicken gizzard. The chicken gizzard was super tough and hard to chew. I wouldn't get this again. I really enjoyed the fried chicken the most given the flavor and crunchiness. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it but if I'm in the area I would grab it.

This is not a fast food joint, but can't say I regret coming here. We ordered at the kiosk. I was shocked when Gavin ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. This place is known for their fried chicken, so after we ordered I had to add an order of popcorn chicken. The Tender Beef Wrap is a Chinese version of the crunchwrap supreme from Taco Bell. The beef was tender and so flavorful, but the wrapping was awful. It fell apart the second I picked it up. The fries were standard however, I must say the popcorn chicken was light, not greasy, and extremely delicious. I would not go back but very glad we tried.

Spicy chicken sandwich: 3.5 star Wait Time: 30m (informed 15-20m) My advice would be to call ahead (sometimes they don't take phone orders when it's too busy) or go when it's less busy. Still lots of hype around the place. Feel bad for the people working there cause they are really giving their all but the facility might not be equipped for the number of people coming thru. Food wise, the breading and frying technique is the star. Lighter breading than chick fil a but much crunchier. Spicyness is about a medium from Dave's hot chicken (I like it spicier but I can understand why they chose this heat level). The downside is around the chicken itself, it's several pounded patties combined so its not as advertised as one big juicy chunk. I live extremely close so I might be back to try other things. But with their higher prices, longer wait times, composite patties, I prefer the other chicken sandwiches for now read more

I prefer the cheeseburger over the chicken because the beef patty has better flavor and is juicy with good texture. The combo is a good deal since you get fries and a huge drink for 5 bucks more. The chicken gizzard is alright, and the popcorn chicken is best with the pepper seasoning. read more

Got food to go from this place a few days ago and it was terrible. We got the spicy chicken burger combo and the shrimp burger combo. The spicy chicken had little to no flavor and there was a hint of the spice typically used in popcorn chicken. Shrimp burger was super dry and rubbery and almost inedible. one of the few driving reasons for me to visit china (apart from family) is that i desperately miss the spicy fried chicken sandwich and wings at chinese kfc and mcdonald's, so much that i tried making them during covid. luckily for me i no longer have to deal with deep frying in my kitchen bc macho burger makes them . only nit is that they could make the wings spicier. the space is clean and the little service there is (since it's more of a fast food counter) is nice. will be back! read more

We went on a Sunday after church with a group of friends. Those who ordered the chicken sandwiches said they were good, but a bit greasy. My husband and I ordered the chicken skewers. I could have enjoyed them accept that 3 out of 5 of the chicken pieces were mostly gristle. I was very disappointed. Other than that the fries were good. I would give this a place 4.8 stars. I came here with my friends for lunch, and I ordered the spicy chicken and we split orders of fries and onion rings. I liked the spicy chicken. It had a really strong kick of heat, and I was completely here for it. The fries were easily some of the best I've had from a restaurant. It was nice and soft on the inside while reaching a good balance of crispy and soft on the outside. The onion rings were maybe a bit too thick on the batter, but it was still better than a lot of other chain restaurants. There isn't really traditional service, because you really just order on the tablets at the front and then wait for them to cook and then ring up your number. The noise level was a bit noisy with the fryers and other people, but you were still able to have a slightly above room level conservation with groups you come with. I'd come back and check out other parts of their menu. read more

Spicy chicken Sandwich: more than enough chicken meat with a slight kick, not so spicy which is great for me because I'm not a fan of too spicy. The buns were nicely buttered and fluffy. The food is good! I ordered the cheese burger. Juicy and flavorful! Fries are seasoned with what looks like pepper. Possibly some other spice too. The restaurant is kind like a self-service kiosk. You order food on the computer then wait for your food to come out. The drinks are self service too. Just grab a cup and fill it up. They are trusting you that you paid for the drink. The only issue would be the wait time. For fast food standards it's slow. But for slow food standards it's about right. When your order is ready they have an obnoxiously loud robot screaming your number. read more

First off not sure why it has burger in the name when they only have 2 hamburgers on the menu and the rest is chicken and fish. I got the spicy crispy chicken sandwich and the crispy fish sandwich and fries. The fries were some of the worst I've ever had, undercooked and somewhat soggy. The chicken sandwich was ok just kind of bland, I could have used some coleslaw or pickles. The fish sandwich was ok and again kind of bland. Service was good but can't say I would come back. The prices are a little high for what it is. Give it a try and see what you think. read more

Had high hopes for this spot as the last restaurant there was healthy and good. Ambiance is a bit cold. You walk in and it's basically an no contact fast food spot. No eye contact service. If you're in a hurry, better to skip, as it takes them awhile to prep the food. Burgers are low quality beef high in fat and other little bits of I don't know what. Curly fries are tasty so I'll give them a 2 star. read more

This is what fast food in the US should be like. Really nice breaded crispy chicken, great alternative protein options (shrimp/fish burgers) that I wish McDonald's had instead, and I'm (unfortunately for my health) addicted to their popcorn chicken. The interior is pleasant, clean and nice to have your meal in as well, unlike most fast-food joints. It's also a plus that Tong Sui is literally right next door, so you can get a great refreshing coconut drink and taro dessert to accompany your caloric overdose instead of a crappy soda. read more

Absolutely delighted with my meal! The spicy chicken burger was a knockout ! It was perfectly cooked with a golden, crispy coating that was full of flavor without being greasy. Here's my honest opinion of this place- sadly it replaced the wonderful Tortilla House... So this is now: Chinese-style modern burgers with unique blend of snacks found at boba cafes + fast food kinda meals. -The food takes a very long time to come out. -The chime and announcement to pick up ppls food, is ridiculously annoying. -The burgers don't come out looking like the pictures at all, although not entirely a bad thing- since they still taste good, and we get larger portions of protein. -very little to no veggies/fiber but lots of cholesterol under the bun. So it lacks what real burgers should have. I feel like they don't entirely get it. -They only have ketchup packets, not even an (St Johns/In-N-Out style) ketchup dispenser w/ small cup for it for *dipping*. -no other types of sauces other than the very high cholesterol-tasting sauce in the bread bun. -Wait time and chime sounds still annoying.... -Language options on the ordering screen: English or Chinese, but no Spanish- really strange in California. -they literally answer the phone in Chinese, lol. So it's not really universal. Others have also agreed that this is weird/needs training. -no napkin dispenser..... -AC blasting way too cold. What I got so far (been there twice): -Fish burger -Orleans chicken burger. -Onion rings. -Seaweed flavor (powder) popcorn chicken. My cardiologist would likely prohibit me from going here. read more

Awful overpriced food. Seriously, it's confusingly bad. Generic frozen fries and onion rings. Dry chicken "tenders" which are basically just little strips of gristle. Just bland fried matter. There are so many vastly superior burger joint options out there with better menus. It's really like the owner knows nothing about this market and didn't bother to even try. read more

The strawberry shake hit the spot, or as the youngins say "It hits." The burger and fries were delicious too, or as the youngsters say "Mad fire bro." I ordered a burger, my wife had the chicken tenders, and we shared an order of cheese fries. The burger arrived completely undercooked. The pictures don't even do it justice--it wasn't just rare, it was raw. After a few bites I realized the meat wasn't even warm in the center. Since they use pre-formed patties, I'd think cooking them consistently would be one of the easier things to get right. By the time I realized how raw it was, I'd already eaten a few bites, and the meal was ruined. We ended up spending about $50 on a lunch that was essentially inedible. It was also 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and the restaurant was surprisingly empty. Maybe that's a sign that things have changed, but it's sad to see. As a longtime customer, this wasn't the experience I expected from a place I used to recommend without hesitation.

I tried Macho Burger and ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and the Peking Chicken Beijing Roll. The food is pretty decent and does resemble the KFC in China, which is far superior to the KFC in the States. I'd say they did a solid job recreating that taste. However, the service left much to be desired. I saw a few customers unsure of how to order, and the staff just stood there doing nothing instead of helping. It was frustrating, to say the least. Another issue is the pricing. At around $13-$20 for a set, it feels a bit overpriced, especially when places like Popeyes offer a similar sandwich for about $8 for two. While I understand it's not a chain, a little more competitive pricing or promotions could make it more appealing. Overall, the food is decent, but the service and pricing could definitely use improvement. read more

This spot is like a higher quality version of Pop-eyes for the chicken sandwich. But what was a nice surprise was the shrimp burger. It was nice and juicy on the inside and I feel most places don't have shrimp burger. Don't get the burgers here though - nothing special. Visited this place for a quick bite during business trip. Got the big chicken chop with seaweed powder. It was absolutely delicious and juicy.
