We ordered the fries pickles which were good, but a little salty. The batter in the outside is great, they come in long thin strips and are perfectly golden brown. Hubby ordered a double cheeseburger with jalapeños and green chile. It came out juicy and tender. I ordered the club sandwich with fries extra crispy. The bacon was crisp, the tomato and lettuce were freshly cut. And the fries were perfect! A perfect ending to a perfect day. This restaurant has an amazing atmosphere and helpful employees. Unfortunately a few items on the menu did not settle with me and a few of my friends but since I contacted them about this I am very pleased with my response. I posted a review saying their food made me sick and not even an hour after, they messaged me asking exactly what it was and how they can fix it. So hopefully they will take a look back at their food and see what they can do to make it the best it can be. I will definitely be trying this again because of the kindness the manager had. We had the pleasure of having lunch at Macky's Grill twice in the last week of August, 2017. The service was cordial, polite and quickly attentive. The restaurant's design is rustic and it is impeccably clean. Being a John Wayne fan, I had the Duke Burger at $10.95, which has more fixings than can be counted and drips so much a sponge would be more effective than a napkin. Was it delicious? Oh, yes! We chose this place based on their reviews and they live up to the hype. Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday morning drive up from Phoenix. I ordered a simple sandwich and soup. I must say the best Chicken Tortilla soup I have ever had. My husband ordered the Prime Rib sandwich and fries. I said it was perfect and just about licked his plate. Only regret was we didn't save room for the homemade pies. The looked delicious as they were delivered to other tables.....next time for sure! For a burger, this is the place. See, my parents live in Payson and were out for the evening. They went to Chili's for dinner. I opted out, having an intense craving for onion rings. Macky's is in a strip mall, adjacent to Scoops and the movie theater. They have many different varieties of burgers, appetizers, sides. I got a burger that had jalapenos on it. I'm surprised at the previous reviewer's take on the size of the burger, because mine was huge. When it came out, I thought to myself "How the f$%k and I supposed to bite into this???" It was a serious burger. Now, I don't eat meat very often, we'll call this a relapse. It was worth it. The onion rings were exactly what I wanted and needed. They came with some spicy dipping sauce, but I went for the ol' stand-by: ketchup. The service was super-friendly, despite my ragged-hiking-lazy appearance. In Payson we could not really find anything to do or a clear answer of where things were. So we stopped into the Best Western and asked if there was a dog friendly patio where we could grab a beer and some lunch. They were very friendly. We were directed to Macky's. We were seated outside and my dog was kindly welcomed. They brought her a bowl of water with ice in it...nice touch. We decided to split a burger because they were supposed to be so good and "fattening" (that's how they were described to us). We asked for new ketchup and mustard because our were literally hot...not good for tomato products... The waitress proceeded to make it seem like a big deal and said "we don't refrigerate any of them, but whatever." Ummm...I think it says to do that on the bottle for a reason. When the food arrived I almost laughed. It looked like a kids hamburger from McDonald's, but this one was $8.00 plus a $2.00 split plate charge. Super friendly! Patio is Dog friendly and really open. Food was excellent. I had the chicken philly with Anaheim chili's and my husband had the Macky's. I have to say when it came it was big chucks of chicken and Anaheim chili's and that's something I don't usually care for, but the ratio of chicken and chilis was awesome, bun was toasted and the whole meal was outstanding. Macky's is probably my favorite restaurant in Payson! Its hard to beat the patio dining in the summer time here. As for the food, the chicken wings are top 5 best Ive ever had (and I dont say that lightly). The sauces they use are fresh made and are straight delish! The wings are crispy, a good size, and have tons of flavor. The strawberry lemonade is also a must order. The burger was good, but not enough to keep me coming back just for that alone. This place needs to figure out the host desk. After a few hours of hiking we stopped by to get lunch before heading back to the valley. We had a puppy and asked if we could sit outside with our dog. We were told to sign in and if we found a table outside we could sit down. We found a table and sat down. Then a waitress came by and told us we couldn't sit there as it was reserved (there was no sign or anything indicating it was reserved). We stood there awkwardly for a few minutes but no one else came to help us. We decided to go back home and stopped at a gas station and got better service at the gas station. The clerk even offered me napkins for the road. Thanks for driving us away. BLT was a good choice but the Cowboy Melt is where it is at!! I'm not even a huge beef fan and I'd totally get that any day for the week. It's their signature sandwich for good reason. We got totally surprised with an absolutely amazing meal at Macky's. We drove from Scottsdale to see the Mogollon Rim (gorgeous) and it was too late to make it back to eat. So we found Macky's. Our food and our service were excellent! The steak, tilapia, Mexican chicken and BLT w avocado were all amazing!! And our waitress was wonderful!! Four of us split a cheesecake churro (OMG-deep fried cheesecake) and it was a religious experience. LOL. It is worth the trip from wherever you are!! We came around 4:30 when there was next to no one here and then we ended up waiting like fifteen minutes with our restless kids to order dessert after we had all finished eating. Everything we ordered was kind of overpriced for the quality and amounts of food. Also if you work in a place where you're serving people food, you probably shouldn't wear a massive amount of heavy perfume. It was very clean and pretty cute inside except for the parts that are still under construction. It was just concrete floors behind the counter, all the tile looked recently ripped up. The pasta salad is delicious! But be prepared to not get very much. The strawberry lemonade is great! But it's hard to flag down the wait staff to get refills. (Actually had to get up and find someone a time before.) And they are friendly! But when your sucking on ice cubes your good mood goes away fast. Decor is a nice southwestern look. Just stopped here on our way back to Phx with my husband and puppy. Super cute 66! We sat on the patio, which was clean with comfortable patio furniture and plenty of umbrellas. I don't remember the lady's name who took care of us, but she was amazing and reminded us of everyone's favorite aunt. She came out to greet us, smile on face and doggie water bowl in hand. My husband had the chilli and home made cornbread. I sampled both and they were great. That cornbread! They do offer vegetarian and carb free options. I had the bunless burger which normally comes with cottage cheese and peaches, but I opted for fries (teehee). The burger was juicy and they obliged my request of adding grilled onions on top. Yum. On past trips, I have never found any good place to eat in Payson so looked to Yelp when planning the trip . . . that is how I found Macky's Grill. The burgers were fantastic and they offered 1/4 lb or 1/2 lb. They cooked my fries extra crispy just like I like them.
