Maclaren was recommended to us to stay as we drove around Alaska. The area is kind of off the grid, which is an experience. The staff, everyone we met were friendly, polite, and enjoyable! The food was delicious! The only issues we had was with our room. We stayed in the lone cabin off the lake. The door did not close all the way and it did not lock. The real problem we had with that were the mosquitoes that flew around us all night. It was a restless sleep. They do have three outdoor bathrooms with plumbing, and three showers. The cabin with restrooms near the lake was a joy to stay in. They are newer and nicely appointed for a rustic cabin in the middle of a vast Alaska wilderness. The rate is certainly reasonable for Alaska in-season. The staff was particularly welcoming and easy to work with. Onsite dining was simple but good and again with reasonable Alaska prices.
