Good country pub style place. TAB, pokies, cold beer. Helpful friendly staff. Pleasant place to chill out and have a bet or a casual meal.

My only (small) gripe is that signage to find your room is lacking a bit, and it took me a good few minutes to work out where it was. The bistro area was very crowded and we found only one table available. We quickly ordered our meal and waited patiently. The timing of the meal was good but the meal was terrible. Bed comfy enough and good choice of channels on the TV. Best thing about this place is the restaurant! The steaks here are AWESOME. Probably the best I've had in Australia - and that's no exaggeration! Tender, juicy and really good value. They do a great "Set Menu" room service dinner for $30 (plus $3 tray delivery fee - I hate this, but all hotels have it now... just a cash grab, but it's not going to change). Breakfast in-room daily or in the restaurant Tues - Sun. Continental $15 and cooked $19 - very good value and really is a "breakfast of champions". Only thing wrong with this hotel is internet - WIFI is $10 for 3 hours or $18 for 10 hours. A rort. Bring your own USB dongle and don't support paid internet services in hotels! Then maybe attitudes will change - it should be free in this day and age. However, no major dramas at all, and this place is my usual "home from home" when I come to Dubbo.

I was very impressed by the tradies lunch selection for $10 and the seniors lunch selection was for a mere $8.50. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding! Meals are quite substantial. A special thank you to a young waiter by the name of Cameron who was so helpful with the order and the service. He was chatty yet not intrusive. He treated a mature male with his elderly mother with respect and genuine friendship. The atmosphere was very comfortable. Parking is not an issue.

(it was a quiet time of year) After failing to find a hair dryer, I asked at reception if I could borrow one, only to be told there was one in the room. I asked for some clues where to find it...But it wasn't where it was supposed to be, and finally found it pushed to the rear of a high shelf in the closet. Being short, I had no hope of finding it! The TV/set-top box didn't work, and after two visits from the manager (very friendly bloke) we managed to catch the News before it gave up the ghost again. Didn't have the heart to call him again. We ordered room service and requested an extra bowl of vegetables which we were told was 'no trouble'......the bowl of veggies never arrived. The meal was too expensive for what was served. Practically no accompaniments, just fish in sauce. Bed was comfortable and bathroom facilities adequate. I would definitely try somewhere else next time. Proximity to the Zoo just wasn't worth it.

Definitely the place to stay if you're visiting the area!…read more I was lucky enough to book it by chance as nothing in the area had been reviewed at all. It's not quite a pub as you can't just go in and buy a beer - you need to be either eating there or staying there. This keeps the drunks out and makes it one of the friendliest places in Narromine. Mark, who runs it, is a friendly down to earth bloke who goes to great lengths to make sure people are happy and comfortable. The facilities are clean and simple. There are two rooms with ensuites otherwise there are shared bathroom facilities. There's also fast and free wi-fi. There is also a large kitchen if you wanted to whip something up yourself. Not that you would because the food is so good. On most nights you'll find every guest in the place sitting in the courtyard chatting, having a beer and eating. All the meals are under $20 and are huge servings. Its in a great location right in the middle of Naromine but the rooms are still really quiet. The atmosphere and the staff definitely make this place feel like a home away from home.

Order the same thing at another similar club and your meals will beat you back to your seat after ordering, even when it's busy. I ordered a chicken caesar salad. This should be 5 stars but was let down by a plethora of little things…read more However, staying overnight in a very civilised tent is just the way to go. Your verandah and bedroom overlook the giraffes and other animals but they are also overlooking you. There is a huge shower and a monster bathtub in the "bathroom".The bathroom and bedroom are really the one room separated by a concertina window above the bed. We stayed overnight which meant we had dinner then a night tour. Early morning the next day we had an even better tour before breakfast. Upon checkout we then drove into the zoo to catch up with some other favourite animals. The tours were terrific as they were the "behind the scenes" types. The evening meal was very nice. It was served a little slowly so some things were cold that should have been hot. Canapés were served before dinner but unless you were in the room when they came out you missed out. The same went for the wine tasting. Breakfast was much better organised as it was all put out and everything was hot in the bain maries. If I had known, I would have asked for the bar fridge to be emptied before I arrived for a couple of reasons. I like to have my own stuff cold and there was no information as to how much things cost out of the fridge. I did ask and got the reply the same as it costs "up here" and there should be a sheet of paper showing costs in your tent. I got that answer twice but never got a sheet of paper. It would have been good if there was an itinerary on a piece of paper given to us at the beginning of the stay. We seemed always to be asking about times. We were also missing a map of the zoo. Locking of the tent (sounds ridiculous) couldn't be done as there was a problem with the lock but there is no need to have valuables in the tent and as the car is parked close by we left much of our stuff in the car. I could not fault the keepers and their knowledge and how they were amenable to answer any questions about the animals. However, there was just that little lacking in the organisation of the hospitality. The people were very friendly and helpful to a point. It is definitely a treat you don't want to miss.
