Food Court in Newtown [MACTAN, CEBU Philippines]
We ate here a couple of times. The first time was when we had just arrived from Manila. The place is located in Lapu-Lapu City inside the new Mactan Newtown Development by Megaworld immediately to the left as you enter. Don't expect fine dining here... it's a food court. It's in an open covered space atmosphere (hence, alfresco) and the entire pavilion is round, with all the food stalls situated inside, actually in the middle.
The variety menu based on Filipino cuisine is what you can expect at Mactan Alfresco. Locals advised us that when in Cebu we must try the lechon. Sure enough many, not all, of these vendors only specialized in lechon... a haven for pork lovers. They also offered snacks and other classic delicacies. We ordered lechon from Ayer's because it was the top choice that was recommended to us. You can purchase by weight. It was delicious indeed. So good yet so bad. Btw, lechon is a roasted suckling pig that is a Filipino fiesta food staple.
There are plenty of wooden picnic tables and benches all around. We didn't find any garbage cans to clean up our table until we saw employees clean up after us.
