Wow, today this store looked like a force of nature had hit it. Was it still recovering from the weekend? I don't know. Stuff was all over the floor in the men's department when we passed through, and then in the women's jeans area everything was mixed up: styles, sizes, brands, very confusing. When I asked two staff members if they still carried a particular brand of jeans they both thought not, but neither pursued it...then I found it myself in the messy jeans area (but sadly not the combo of the style and size I needed). We stopped here to shop after a friend gave us a gift card, so we picked up some newer cookware. Our customer rep was Linda and she was just awesome. We started by joking with her and her co workers and I think that showed how much they all enjoy working here. Having fun and doing a great on top of that is what we liked about her. She helped us with and very nice selection of frying pans and we picked up a set to match others at house. Linda was a breath of fresh air from what I experienced in the past here and we will return back next time we need kitchen items and see Linda too. If I could give this store zero stars, I would. It is unquestionably the WORST retail store I have ever been to! I will never come back. Macys is supposed to be a high end store, and this mall is in affluent area with luxury stores throughout the mall, so I expected a decent shopping experience. Boy was I wrong! The merchandise was piled up all over the racks and on the floor. There was no rhyme or reason to wear clothing items were hung. The hangers had wrong sizes marked, sizes were all mixed together, brands were mixed up and clearance/sale items were hung among full price designer brands. Several items I picked up had no price tags or the price was blacked out with marker but a new price was not written. After 2 hours of stressful shopping, I found one pair of pants o buy. I waited at a register for 10 minutes but nobody came to check me out. I moved to another register and waited for another 10 minutes. Same thing! I finally flagged down a stockroom worker pushing more clothing onto the floor. She told me there was ONE register open on the other side of the floor. You would think they coukd have put signs on the closed registers instructing shoppers where to check out! When I got to the only open register, I had to wait in line behind 11 other people! It took me another 30 minutes to check out, and when I finally got to the register, the cashier (who was an African American man) didn't even acknowledge me. He started talking to another African American man who was next in line and completely ignored me. I have never been treated so rudely in an environment where I am giving someone my business. I didn't think they carried my size shirts and pants. To my surprise they did. Priced well and the material felt like a good quality. Good staff helpful and knowledgeable. Good selection. Store was neat and all the clothes were sized in order, very noticeable attention to detail. Found everything I was looking and also for my two kids the service was great! I love this store, they have an incredible variety of urban trends. Inside those doors is a different vibe. The staff is always friendly. No matter where they are in the store! I went to Macy's location in oakbrook IL today (8-2-20) and I must say that I almost had a nervous breakdown. I was on the second floor, made my purchase in the shoe dept and then to walk around to each register to find that one person is on each register. Made my second purchase to find that each escalator going down was both blocked off... Go to the elevator, there a line because one of the two elevators don't work and there's only 2 ppl allowed in the elevator at one time. NOW PLEASE TELL ME HOW ON THE FIRE HAZARD it's that safe and social distances when customers are trapped likes some F$&ING animals on a floor in the store?????!!! I had to get into the elevator with an old couple and apologize because I was on the brink of a full blown panic attack from being trapped on the floor of this location. read more

Beware if shopping at Macys in Oakbrook, IL. Macys' has really lowered the quality of their service and merchandise; it is Soooo disappointing. Purchased a Michael Kors (MK) coat online that I picked up in Macy's Oakbrook, IL today, February 24, 2022. The coat was supposed to be a brand new coat. I got home took the coat out of the bag and immediately discovered that the coat was missing a button. I called customer service and was advised that the coat had come off of the floor and there were 3 more in stock in Oakbrook, IL if I wanted to exchange the coat. The person that packed the coat up took it off the floor and I'm sure they saw that a button was missing from the coat. I will be returning the coat immediately. The staff working in the women's coats area are PHENOMENAL. They totally went the extra mile for me when I found a coat I loved but noticed that a button was missing. They had the tailor sew a new one on for me, gave me a spare, and even went ahead and honored a coupon I brought with me. Even though their area was bustling they took the time to assist me impeccably. Macy's Oakbrook, I went there only to get a deal on men's shoes that came through my email. I printed out the email attachments replete with product names and Web ID numbers. The obviously poorly trained young man that was in the department at 10:45 AM on 6-25-22 had no idea how to sell shoes or a hint of good customer service. He never came out from behind his cash register counter. His answers were short and sweet....."we don't have those 2 styles of shoes." Did he try to find a suitable shoe that i might like? No. Did he contact his manager and ask if he could match the price with a suitable pair of shoes? No. He simply let me walk away. I have a pretty good idea that Macy's competitor at the other end of the Oakbrook Center Mall would have tried their darnedest to sell me a pair of shoes. Right now my wife just said, if you want the shoes, buy them on-line. I know, silly me out there trying to use the brick-and-mortor stores, burning up $6.20 per gallon premium gasoline, walking around in the rain. Terrible customer service. Went in on Sunday to purchase a watch for my mother. I'm looking to check out the watch before I purchased and she approaches me with an attitude. The women's department in Oakbrook is a mess. Evening tops for sale with stains from deodorant, (obviously worn and returned) and hundreds of garments on the floor under the racks and every fitting room was filled with garments from the previous occupant. The prices are not cheap and the new 30 day return policy which is strictly enforced (I waited 32 days and the return was refused) and the lack of organization make shopping for clothes at Macy's a hard job-- not fun at all. It is such a mess, resale shops and the Salvation Army are all better shopping experiences. read more

Spent a fortune in Fragrance buying 8 bottles of perfumes and colognes as gifts and had racked up over a $100 in Star Reward cards. Went to use $70 worth toward a Le Cruset stainless steel pan after sales price and star reward and using our Macy point an over $200 pan for $75. We thrilled - being able to use points on something we actually wanted on the last day of promo. We even placed order with customer service rep to ensure proper processing. Long story short: no call, no email, no pan. Order was mysteriously "cancelled" and when I called back my pan was "sold out". Star points now conveniently expired. I came here for the recent Yelp Elite event (Fall Fashion Show). I enjoyed the fashion show and the additional pop-up stations. The Açaí bowls were delicious! Here's what I didn't like... 1. The WiFi in the store was very discouraging. For one of the stations you had to do a style quiz to receive a $5.00 gift card. My husband was a trooper and went outside to download the app so we could participate. 2. While waiting in the line for personalized candles a couple of women were asking a sales associate about the left over swag bags. She was very rude in responding that they were only for the fashion show. We later saw her hand them out to a few other women that she appeared to be friends with. 3. The styles shown in the fashion show should have been visible for purchase. We had to search through racks to find items without the help of a sales associate. Let's play a little game of Never Have I Ever. Never have I ever shopped in a sale section where one of the shelves is falling off its hinge from the obvious mad rush of customers flowing through the store. Never have I ever asked a Macy's employee - or employee anywhere I've shopped, for that matter - a question about a sale they're having, to which I get the irritated response, "I don't know! I just got up to the register!" Never have I ever told a saleslady (the same said employee) that I would keep looking around before purchasing my down comforter and had her half scream-half grunt at me like a 5 year old child with a temper tantrum and massive attitude. It was something along the lines of "oh my GAWDDD!" Ridiculous. Go home and take a mental health day, woman. And does dress code really include those light blue flip flops you were wearing? The happy ending to this story is that a woman named Ayshia provided friendly, prompt customer service, as you would think any employee on any job would strive to do. Wow, there is a huge disparity in the customer service here. I normally shopped at juniors and the professional section, and I never had a problem shopping here until shopping here for a down coat. "Are you done yet?" Who greets their prospective customers like that? When I finally purchased my downcoat, the cashier asked me "on the hanger or in the bag". Who says that? I bought a down coat, of course I want it in a BAG. She then shoves it in the bag without a dust-free bag. Who is expecting to wear a down coat ALL YEAR LONG????? After noticing within seconds, I went back and asked her for a dust-free bag. She rudely corrected me and asserted "well, I did ask you if you want it on the hanger or in a bag". Who would know what "on the hanger" means? Can you make me feel like less of a dumba$$ please? I can't believe I even signed up for a credit card with this lady. You're lazy. Every department we walked through had merchandise all over the floor and it had only been open for an hour at the time. Our salesperson was very nice and gave us an additional coupon. As per usual Macy's Oakbrook Mall is as far from upscale as upscale can be. Start with a coat of paint, everywhere. Disgusted with Macy & their terrible customer service.. Ordered a couch in beginning of October, going on 12 weeks now.. They said it will be here by December 6th, most likely sooner, they give later dates cause of Covid and all. Ok, I understand that.. As long as it's here before Christmas. Salesman said "of course it will be here by then, I PROMISE." Here we are days before Christmas and NO couch. Macy's apologizes but has been unable to track couch or update deliver date, they are "so sorry for the inconviance" Everytime I call customer service I get a different response. I was initially told the couch was in the warehouse waiting for delivery to be set up, then the couch was lost, then the manufacturer was unresponsive to their requests, they don't know where the couch is, on & on.. I am now being told to contact the manufacturer myself.. Manufacture- Johnathon Lewis so far has been unresponsive to voicemail and two e-mails. I hear a lot of pro-Marshall Fields people who are just upset at this Macy's because it's no MF! Honestly, I like Macy's because I always walk in hoping to be able to buy some east coast fashion wear and not just the midwestern sweats/uggs. This happens to one of the better Macy's in the Chicagoland area simply because the bar isn't set too high for them anyway. Generally, Macy's is known for bad service, aloof staff, shifting policies, mismanagement and such. This is the one Macy's where I feel I can actually have a decently intelligible conversation with someone behind a counter and they'll 1) hear and 2) understand their customer. Absolute garbage furniture and customer service. What is the hype about the Radley sectional? Our first try, every section of the couch squeaked when you sat on it. The "upgraded, custom" fabric is cheap. The throw pillows are stiff and have about 4oz of poly fill. Customer service is impossible and the squeaky couch was not picked up when the replacement couch was delivered. So I have a replacement, and a large squeaky sectional on my driveway..... read more

Was just doing my Christmas shopping just now and approached a clerk to ask if there's an available shoes on the size I need and out of no where she screamed literally yelled at me with no provocation, to get in the line behind the register and just ask people on the register for it coz she was only there to clean up and do displays on women's shoe section. I'm okay with lining up but seriously I did not deserve being screamed and to get everyone's attention, I did not want that. If she's tired or she has frustrations, I have my own too but I don't bring it to work and vent on innocent people. This place has gone completely downhill. When it was a Marshall Field's, you walked in and were warmly greeted and surrounded by appropriate for the area high class and quality products. Now it has a cold feeling, surrounded by products that are far cheaper than what people who go to Oak Brook center are looking for. The store is not maintained nearly as well either; it is constantly dirtier and dingier. The bathrooms are a perfect example; by far amongst the dirtiest I have ever seen in Oak Brook center. I walked in to the Men's restroom and was so overwhelmed by the smell of urine I walked immediately out. It smelled as if someone urinated all over the floor weeks ago and no one cleaned it up. The service is fine, for a Macy's. The products are store appropriate, but as I mentioned; they are not appropriate for the kind of clientele Oak Brook Center typically serves. You're not getting Marshall Field's quality products or service, that's for sure. The downstairs cafe feels old and out of date; the foods are often lacking in variety or are uninteresting. Quite literally, the only reason I would enter this store is for the Marshall Field's Frango chocolates. I've lived in the area for a long time and my family frequented the former Marshall Field's, so I have seen firsthand the low-rent nature that Macy's has used to replace the classy and reputable Marshall Field's. The Macy's is a huge tarnish on the otherwise shining shopping mall that is Oak Brook Center. If the Marshall Field's family saw that this is what has replaced their sublime brand, they would roll over in their graves. read more
