It is the work of Victor Ving and Dave Persue as part of the Greetings Tour in 2016 and measures 15 feet high and 25 feet wide. It was funded by the El Cajon Boulevard Business Improvement Association. Each letter in the word San Diego has an iconic image of the city. It overloooks a parking lot, so it is easy to park and take a closer look. It is on the side of the Belching Beaver and is pretty easy to find. It is a bit outside of the city, so you will need a car to get here. It is in an artsy part of town though, which is pretty cool. Anyway, as with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. Luckily for you there are a ton of murals in this area to check out.

Took the whole family of 9 to go see the new Spider-Man movie last night and was able to get last minute tickets and we were all able to sit together. Definitely on the older side and does not have recliner chairs, but well worth it for the price. They have plenty of underground parking space. They also serve beer, wine and seltzers. They even have a happy hour posted. By the tickets online, go in and scan them and you're good to go. Concession stand is a little bit slow so I would give extra time to get all the food and snacks you need.

Most importantly, the air conditioning was working really well and the theater was clean. It was easy to purchase tickets online although the $3 convenience fee was a bummer. All staff members I interacted with were friendly. The concessions seemed reasonably priced as well & they have happy hour every day. I didn't try anything though & just brought my water bottle inside. We parked in the free underground lot & it was easy to walk over to the cinema. There were plenty of dated yet functional bathrooms inside. This is a good movie theater to see your next film. Peace.

What stood out to me right away were the colorful tiles covering the ground throughout the village. They make the whole area feel bright and cheerful as you walk around. The place itself isn't very big, but there's quite a bit to look at. I saw a lot of artwork and paintings displayed in the different studios, and some of them were really beautiful. It's easy to spot because of the colorful tiled walkways and the small colorful shops scattered throughout the village. There's also a cute coffee cart tucked in the back with a nice selection of unique drinks. For parking, I noticed there were some spaces near the front, and you can also find parking along the roads nearby. It may take a little looking around depending on when you visit, but I didn't think it was too difficult to find a spot.

One studio's sculpture garden was my favorite. The sculpture used a lot of mirror shards in his pieces. Got some unique necklace pendants etched using technology originating with NASA. Enjoyed talking to some artists as well. Lessons for children and adults available. A lot of work is pricey, reflecting handmade work. The village has an unexpected history, too. It is common knowledge that the park was the site of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. During World War II, the park also served as training grounds for soldiers and the Spanish Village were barracks. Fun time here with a good coffee place here as well.

There is SO much to do here, and the park is absolutely stunning and very well maintained. When living downtown, I was here pretty much every weekend. I love walking through the park, running the trails, and bringing my dog. The dog park is huge and gives them plenty of room to run around, which is a major plus. You could easily spend hours just walking and exploring everything Balboa Park has to offer. Between the trails, architecture, museums, gardens, recreational areas, and incredible history, there is always something to see or do. Even after coming here so often, I still enjoy simply walking around and taking it all in. The history and architecture are really what make Balboa Park special. It's beautiful, full of character, and such an incredible part of San Diego. Whether you want to exercise, walk your dog, explore, have a picnic, visit a museum, or just enjoy being outside, this park has something for everyone. An easy 5/5 for me. One of the places that makes me love San Diego!
