I have to say I was originally dubious....wondering...really...is something so outwardly crying its trendiness that good? Pleased to say, yes, they are that good. Andy is absolutely wonderful. Soft speaking, engaging without being too chatty....he approached the haircut like a small project and talked through what I wanted, what he suggested, and took me through every step of the process with the gentlest of touches. I was utterly pleased with the results. The fringe, the fringe: perfectly clipped in a gorgeous little box shape. Thrilled. The salon itself is quite industrial/bare chic, which I think works well here. Concrete, high ceilings, big windows with lots of light. Good quality speakers putting out some satisfying mid-tempo music....deffo a big plus in my book. Makes you feel as if you are there to be transformed into something fresh and new, not the same ol' thang again and again. And even if it is the same old haircut, somehow they manage to make it seem fresh. You can book online but I called over the phone, which worked just fine. I've been searching for a new hairdressers for a while, and will be returning.

I came in and was greeted by stylist Aimee and went through what I was looking to have done. She checked out my hair and we went through some pictures I had. She explained to me that due to my hair 'type' there were risks in trying to achieve the Grey/Silver colour that I was aiming for (which I did mention over the phone). She went through some alternative options and asked what I thought about a purple tint but that was not what I wanted. After being persistent with the colour I wanted to achieve she suggested we take a hair sample to see how my hair would take. She walked off to what I assumed to get the bleach and do a test. She returned and said that she had a chat with Andy stylist and thought it be best to get him opinion as he was considered the 'colour guru' with plenty of experience. This gave me a bit more hope that it was achievable. Andy came along and asked me what I was trying to achieve as I explained he almost cut me short and rolled his eyes and told me that as Aimee explained it is difficult to achieve this colour due to my 'ethnic background' and then told me that he didn't want to use that as the reason but basically he did! He then told me that 'if' I was willing firstly 'commit' to the 'looong' process then they will 'give it a go' pretty much all said half heartedly and trying to shove me out the door. He told me that the initial bleach would take 'hours' and that I would have to leave the salon with blonde hair and come back after 12 weeks to achieve the grey/silver. To be honest this did not make sense to me but he made me feel so dumb I didn't ask him why it would take so long and that after 12 weeks I would have grown roots????? After he told me that my ethnic background may prevent me from getting the grey/silver he then told me that all the pictures I showed him were 'fake' and 'probably wigs'. I then asked if he could achieve the bronze/blonde as seen on Sierra the singer he did not hesitate to tell me that it was a weave. He advised me to not watch youtube videos as they had been edited and are probably fake if there was an Asian person with grey/silver hair?? And that I need to search for hair colour 'suitable' for Asian hair. To top it all off Aimee then cut a chunk of my hair off to test the bleach to see if my hair would 'take'- which I was given no warning about and 2 1/2 weeks later I have still not heard anything. Not sure what to call this guys but if you are of 'colour' and want anything but black hair then don't bother. Guess I can thank Bluetit for not charging me for the consultation and cutting a chunk of my hair off for testing with no results. I would like Bluetit to know that they did an outstanding job on stamping on my self esteem and confidence. I came to enquire on hair colour and left insulted. Have sent a complaint to head office and been promised to be in contacted but nothing nothing as I have still not heard anything. No words to express how disappointed I am... worse overall customer experience ever.... Here at Blue Tit's London Hairdressers we believe a haircut should be an experience, not just a transaction. (For real??? This will be an experience i will not forget).

I like this place…read more.. It has that nice barber smell. It is a dive, the whole place can use a once-over and the couch has seen its better days. The little telly in the back gives nice ambient noise as it it is always a news show or a sport match of some kind. But the barber, I think it is Peter, not sure (ive been here half a dozen times, i should know...but too embarrassing to ask now), he gets straight to business and will acknowledge all of the regulars that pop their head in to say hello and chat. He knows how to cut men's hair and he does so quickly, 15 minutes a haircut really. Trimmed my beard on the house cause I had battled with my razor right before. Really friendly, good haircut, really cheap, pay in cash, just £8 a haircut, Im a bit of a germaphobe but Im not bothered that much by the need for cleaning. It is also a tattoo-parlor, but I'm not thinking of getting one so I don't know how it measures up...

I knew there were a bunch of salons around Soho so I just started wandering around the area, checking prices and closing times. I like taking cute alleys, so as I venture down one, I happened upon the Wacky Haircutters. It was small and could have been mistaken for an American hipster dive bar, had the salon chairs been a bar. My kinda place. There was only one person getting their hair done and three people working, plus the music was good so I walked in. I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome by Kevin. They were closing in an hour, but he said he could go ahead and take me since I was just doing a simple haircut (more than a trim, but no fancy stuff). After a mild wash (about as massagey as I get with myself in the shower, mind you), I got one of the best haircuts I've ever had, and hands down the best cut I've gotten in London. Best because: a) Kevin communicated with me continuously throughout the haircut and was more than open to my suggestions and needs. b) He was just the right amount of chatty -- not too much, not too little. c) My thick, bulky hair was transformed into a workable, low-maintenance style. d) Kevin didn't laugh at me when I said I wanted my hair cut like Rupert Grint (circa 2011 Harry Potter Premiere). e) The price was right-- only £36. f) I got a free beer. You cannot complain when you get a free beer. There was nothing to complain about anyway. Kevin further explained to me that the place mostly caters to men, but they definitely take women. This was my first sign of luck since I was going for a boy's haircut. Then he said he used to work at a Chinese salon, meaning he was skilled with turning thick hair into textured, messy looks. Exactly what I like. All in all, I got a great haircut at a good price, from a wonderful stylist, without all the fuss of trendy upscale salons. Kevin and the Wacky Haircutters have restored my faith in London hair salons. Thank you.

I say quirky because they have a piano in the shop, guitars hanging off the wall, loads of ornaments and potted plants. I had an appointment with Elizabeth who was super lovely and suggested what would be best for my hair (10 months of regrowth - oops!). I went for a half head of highlights and a trim. We chatted for hours and my hair looks amazing! I was so happy I almost cried. Would 100% recommend and if you haven't been, you should! My hair looks and feels amazing and I've had a lot of compliments. I'll be back!

At Studio Stage Door all stylists are Japanese and a big chunk of their clientele is Japanese as well. I like this very much, as I kind of feel transported into another world when I come here to get my hair cut. I especially enjoy the lively chatter in a tongue that seems so familiar yet is still so different from either of the languages that I speak. It is at moments like this, when I'm absolutely thrilled to live in a cosmopolitain city! Originally, I heard about this place through my partner who is Asian and who treasures the special skills of the stylists here: they know how to handle the straight & often tricky hair so typical for the Asian people. But also, they also still master the art of a full-fledged scissors hair-cut...no razors allowed! Last but not least, everybody here is just super-friendly and always welcomes you with a bright smile.

Took an hour to do a pretty basic haircut, i have short hair, just needed a re-shape nothing fancy, a bob haircut. My head looks like an egg right now, i was even asked at work today : did you wear a hat that your hair is so flat??? So really sorry but i was better off cutting myself, because she was a complete amateur and my hair looks terrible just before holiday. The only way to fix it is to shave maybe......

I have only had a hair cut there- will go back for a manicure and hair tent…read morethis is the first time in year I leave hair dresser loving my hair- I had a lovely hair cut, shiny silky hair that I couldn't stop myself from running my fingers through it all day long. the hair I had there made me look gorgeous with no tiny bit of make up on- the genius stylist who did my hair didn't ask me any personal questions, or spent time cracking jokes as most of them do- he just asked what I am looking to get and did it - indeed brilliantly prices are very reasonable - well, a bit on the high side- but not as crazy as some salons charge for not so good service Percy and Reed is officially the best salon in London on my list
