This is the hidden gem of Nashville. A hole-in-wall vibe, authentic Somalian restaurant. Amazing portion size, awesome service. Got the beef and spaghetti plate. Initially was confused by the combination of beef strips and spaghetti but it went together so well! Awesome flavor, gently but deliciously flavored. Felt full afterwards but not heavy or uncomfortably stuffed. They also gave us complementary soup and orange juice, both amazing. The soup had a sort of curry flavor with veggies. Absolutely loved this place!!!

Awesome Somali food and excellent service...it seems it is a woman owned business. We had the Somali chapati and the rice with goat. The spiced tea with a smile .... Country music and East Africa perfectly matched!

This is just some good home cooking. Someone's grandma is probably making the food. I got the goat with the rice. Delicious.

The chicken has some great spices on it! Really good!

I am not your common "African Food" seeker, since obviously... I am an American white guy haha, so let that set the stage for the commentary. However, I have eaten here many times, and as I am not used to the tastes of the food, each time I come, my friends and I leave happy we came. Now when we come, it is because we are feeling like going here. It is great food. It is a different vibe both in decor, clientele, and spices used in the food, beyond what I have ever been used to. But, everyone is very nice, the staff is professional, and I am growing to like it more and more each time I come. It is similar in ways to mediterranean style food, but you can tell the spices, presentation, the garnishes and choices in the dishes are just different. I like it a lot. I especially like the raisins and other garnishes on the rice, although I know a few people that really don't like raisins. Goat soup is new for me, and it is great! I have had tilapia, beef, chicken, salmon, all prepared in ways that taste unique to me. I love the rice, kinda mediterranean style, but again unique to this style of food. I will definitely come back many times! Each time I plan on trying something different and expanding my experience with these new ways of cooking! If you are feeling adventurous, take a departure from the common fare, or "meat and 3" places, and come and have something new for lunch. You won't be disappointed.

Yo this place is the BOMB. Fast service, authentic Somali food, big portions, easy parking, good prices. You have to come early or the goat sells out. I feel like I'm joining a family dinner when I come here. Stop eating your bland Nashville American food and come here!!

MashaAllah!!! This place is seriously phenomenal. I got their halib Ari (prob spelling it wrong) and specifically asked for their soup because I was feeling sick. They also gave me a banana. And it was affordable yall !! for the amount you get it's really good and the meat is tender delicious , and most importantly halal!! My Muslim folks who struggle to find halal meat this place is genuinely a great option. Their soup also hits the spot. Not sure what it is but I think it's a type of broth with vegetable broth mixed in as well. Super kind people, just have to deal a bit with the language barrier. Highly highly recommend and I will be coming back inshaAllah

Food is bomb! Like others have stated both inside & outside are pretty understated. Clearly a family run business. We stared at the pictures for a bit before deciding but the young lady waited patiently and even confirmed we could make our own combo. Then a gentleman served us a pitcher of some Tampico orange drink and two styrofoam cups (we didn't order) right before our food came. The only downside is there are no prices displayed. Maybe they were in the printed menu, but none on the sign above the register. But I'm pleased with the food as it was all delicious.

Delicious. Flavorful. Friendly family restaurant. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. The rice has very nice flavors. Take the family. Complimentary bread was oh so good!

Just delicious! The soup, the dishes we ordered, the mango smoothie, and the added pitcher of orange juice all made for a delightful lunch.

Let me start out by saying the owner/server was SUPER friendly, and the food was not bad at all. However, here are some things to note. First, they aren't open according to the hours posted online (I believe they are only open 3 days a week now). Second, outside, the parking lot is full of cars with flat tires and there is an odd smell. Next, when you walk inside the restaurant, it is like a huge sort of abandoned ballroom with a deserted, empty bar, and many retro looking tables. A lot of the booths are hard to sit at because the table is so far from the actual seating. Initially, there was no one around at ALL, so we were confused on what to do, but then a man peeked his head out from a window at the very back of the room and told us to order there. We both just got the chicken egusi with fufu. If you dont know, fufu is a sort of playdough like food made out of pounded yam that you dip into stews and eat with your hands. Egusi a stew made of gourd seeds. He said it would take 10 minutes to come out but it actually took 25. We didn't mind too much, though. The food was PIPING hot when it came out, almost too much to touch. It also comes in to-go styrofoam containers. Each order got 2 wrapped logs of fufu and a container of chicken egusi. The egusi was pretty flavorful, and since I'm not an expert on it, I can't say much else, but it was good. The chicken legs were moist and flavorful as well, and we liked the texture of the fufu. It has a sort of very very mild potato-y taste to it, and it's great to take a piece with your hands and eat with the egusi. I just wish there were some more vibrant, striking flavors but the egusi was mostly nutty, which I'm assuming it is supposed to be. Overall, I think you should definitely come here if you want to try fufu and never have before, but be prepared for a slightly weird experience.

I really appreciated that and I hope the cook felt appreciated as well. There is a lot for me to try, the drive was worth it! But here's a tip, if you're a newbie like me, turn on Northcrest & you'll run right into it. Enjoy and don't forget to tip!

I assume that they're Eritrean (Habesha cousins of Ethiopians) because the names of my favorite dishes seem to be a different language from their Ethiopian counterparts' Amharic. But the flavor was never lost in translation! I ordered Combo # 3 for $18.99. It comes with your choice of 4 vegetables (out of 5 preselected options) and one salad (out of three preselected choices). The side choices are quinoa, injera, or white rice. I confirmed with them that they use teff, meaning the injera is gluten free. They also offer 3 spice levels: regular, spicy, and extra spicy. I love all five vegetable options so it was hard to decide. I ended up choosing the Red Lentils, Yellow Lentils, Tikil Gomen (the cabbage dish), and Collard Greens. Everything was excellent! 10/10! (Everything I ordered was vegan and gluten free.) I ordered spicy because I love spicy food. But let me tell you... I was not prepared for the authentic African spices they hit me with. My bad! I will never underestimate them again. I had to literally sit the injera on my tongue first, then put the food in my mouth in order to finish my meal. LOL Next time I'll be a good little American and order it the normal way. I'll try their fosolia (green beans and carrots) next time. The Shiro also looks good, but it's only available as a full entree. They operate out of a food hall, so it's take out only. I ordered online and my food was ready at the promised time. The customer service was excellent and the lady (whom I'm assuming was the owner) was very nice and helpful. I will definitely order from them again.
