I had an extremely negative experience working with a broker at this firm, Courtney M., and would strongly caution others--especially first-time homebuyers--before choosing to work with her. From the beginning, I felt intense pressure to move forward with purchasing a home (I wasn't even sure I wanted to at that time), and with a purchase that did not align with my needs, budget, or preferences. I was encouraged to consider a home in a city I had never been to previously, priced roughly $150,000 above what I was comfortable spending. Despite clearly expressing hesitation and lack of interest, I felt repeatedly pushed and pressured into proceeding and closing on a home. The property itself raised serious concerns. It had been purchased new for $324,000 (I realized this after purchase) and was listed just eight months later for $450,000! I was encouraged to offer even more by said broker. I didn't because that was already way more than I wanted to do. After closing, the estimated value dropped immediately to around $399,000-$400,000 and has never supported the price I paid. As a result, I have been consistently $50,000 underwater (currently $60,000 underwater) on my mortgage since the day I bought it. I believe the appraised value was never correct and was fraudulently given to obtain higher commissions. I also felt uncomfortable with how the transaction was structured, as I was steered toward using specific affiliated professionals (including the lender and appraiser), which made me question whether I had received objective guidance. Overall, I feel that my inexperience as a first-time buyer was not protected but instead extremely taken advantage of. This purchase has had significant long-term financial consequences in addition to severe mental and emotional damage. This experience has been incredibly stressful and a difficult situation to deal with. Anyway, I look at it, I'm at a significant financial loss. I've never felt so financially fuc*ed by someone in my life. I cannot recommend this firm based on my experience and would urge others to proceed with extreme caution. read more

This is a weird reality company made up of flighty broker associates that rarely return your call. And when you do get a call back and try to make an appointment to see houses with them as your buyer's agent, they are typically "too busy" to find time. Apparently, business must be good for them, but we ended up taking our business elsewhere - a reputable company made up of professional realtors. Since they gave up on us, we gave up on the fly-by-night pompous folks at Madison & Company that were obviously only doing the broker thing as a part time side gig. read more

Thanks to Gwen Hess from Madison & Company, I just closed on a house in Denver! And that's saying a lot, given the state of the local real estate market in Mile High. My partner and I met Gwen at an open house in April. We were casually looking at homes and didn't have an agent yet. Gwen could tell that we were "just browsing" at that house, but offered to send us regular email listings, in case there was anything else that piqued our interest. Very low pressure on her side of things. After a few rounds of emails and some more serious conversations about home buying, I reached back out to Gwen to discuss more properties. At that same time, Gwen suggested we connect with her preferred mortgage broker in Denver. Once we were pre-approved, the process moved very quickly, mostly because we were working with experts in the industry. Our first appointment with Gwen was a whirlwind -- we saw 10 houses in the span of 2-3 hours. None of the homes were great and it left us feeling a bit dejected. But Gwen reassured us, "we're getting close to figuring out what you want." She was trying to get a feel for the neighborhoods we liked and style of home that got us excited. By the time we had our second appointment with Gwen, just a few days later, it was ON. We saw two homes that we really, really liked and made an offer on the #1 pick in South Park Hill. There were multiple offers on the home, but Gwen worked her magic and we go the house! During escrow, Gwen was there all along the way, which was reassuring for a type-A, first time home buyer like myself. She attended our inspection, helped us negotiate requests to the home seller for repairs, kept us in touch with the seller's agent regarding keys/questions about the home, etc. and was at our closing appointment last night. Outside of the nitty gritty home buying details, Gwen is exactly what we wanted in a real estate agent. She's laid-back, but gets sh*t done. Not a flashy, three-piece suit agent at all! She's got many years of industry experience and her "old-school approach" (her words, not mine) with creating a relationship with the seller's agent are what got us our house. I've already recommended Gwen to my parents, who are looking to buy some real estate in the Denver metro area, so yeah, she comes highly recommended. read more

Coloradoan Hospitality 1865 Woodmoor Dr Monument, CO 80132 To Whom It May Concern: I am contacting you in regards to what I would consider a very dirty business practice. Due to extenuating circumstances our normal broker was not available. We contacted Saab Properties aka Madison & Company located at 1221 South Clarkson St, #400, Denver, CO 80210 and asked if they could act as both agents for the seller and buyer. They agreed and put us in touch with Tony Saab. Tony's sister, Gina Saab, was the seller's agent. Coloradoan Hospitality was advised that the last offer on the property located at 4732 E Elizabeth Ct, Englewood, CO 80113 was $1,850,000.00. We were advised the owner would accept an offer of $1,950,000.00 with a 1031 Exchange and the broker would drop 2% for the commission. Le Doan agreed to this amount on behalf of Coloradoan Hospitality. Le Doan and Dong Nguyen came to the office on 6/26/18 and signed the paperwork on the offer. They were told that the owner would accept this offer, they just needed to send it to her. The offer sat on the table for 3 days as we were told the owner was out of the country and then Tony called Le and advised him there were 2 more offers on the table and the highest offer was now $2,050,000.00. On 6/28/18 Tony advised he was still working with the seller to get a response to the offer. The broker contacted us 6/29/18 and requested a higher offer. On 6/30/18 we called him to give him a higher offer and were told that the owner had already accepted an offer by someone else. When we asked about her being out of the country we were told that the hold up was actually the owner waiting to see if she could get a higher offer and that she did not want to do a 1031 Exchange. As a result we have not been looking for other opportunities and may have lost several. Our business has been needlessly delayed as were used as a back-up plan. The end result is lost time and potentially lost revenue as this brokerage firm and their client played games with us. The brokerage firm should not have agreed to represent the buyers in addition to the seller if they could not protect the best interest of both of their clients. I wish I could have had a better review on Madison & Company Properties. Sadly, one of the business parters, M. Turra, has proven himself to be one of the most dishonest people I have met. When I bought my property, I was promised a one-year home warrantee, as were all of the other buyers. Mr. Turra, when presented with each of our checklists, subsequently refused to fulfill the contractual obligations to fix these. Moreover, he ignored phone calls, e-mails, and face-to-face pleas for our property fixes. Even worse, we owners now have to buy an entirely new roof (~18 months after M&Co installed a brand new roof) as their sub-quality work is now leaking. Mr. Turra told our property that he would come out and fix the required work in our units after a similarly negative review on Yelp, and then, shockingly, failed to do so again. It is unfortunate to leave such a negative review, but I truly want other prospective buyers to know who they are dealing with. read more

Megan Quinn Mayfield of Madison Properties is amazing. She helped us quickly find our Berkeley home (which we love) and held our hands through a nerve-wracking contract period. She negotiated a fair price, new roofs for garage and home, and other concessions that were essential to us. But here's the best part: after several intense negotiations we forgot to enforce our deal for a Blue Ribbon Appliance Warranty. Megan negotiated, over 30 days after the closing, to get the warranty for us. I thought all hope was lost but even after the deal was done she still had our backs and we have our warranty.
