Somehow drove past this place for years. Boy, are we glad we finally stopped in. Homemade, scratch cooking that truly impresses. Great salads. Surprisingly good mac n cheese (surprising because the best Mac is generally made at home). Burger was outrageously good - go for that alone and you'll keep going back.

I am excited to see this spot in the area where good food is harder to find. I had the veggie burger, which was really flavorful, as were the sweet potato fries. My brother ordered the Elvis, which was absolutely bonkers with all the fried onions. My dad had th Greek salad, which was huge with lots of quality toppings. It's cute inside; although there's still drop ceiling (you know the kind), they've hung trendy single pendant lights with Edison bulbs to make it more cozy. They also put up some rustic looking wood paneling that looks nice. It's a nice departure from what exists in the immediate area.

Quaint little bistro, definitely a farm to table taste of the food. Wines by the glass available, would like to see a more extensive menu. Fried chicken sandwich had a lite flaky delicious batter, I would definitely recommend anyone to try it. Waitstaff was informative and pleasant overall a great experience. Dessert selection is a great addition!!!

Just off of Route 5, I was intrigued by the farm-to-table ethic. My son and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday. The dining room is small, but there was plenty of room for us and the other diners. Speaking of which, one of the diners (alone and near the kitchen) was very loud and getting into a political discussion with the owner. Disruptive, annoying and distracting. I mentioned it to the waitress and she rolled her eyes as if it happened often. When I did see the owner, he was wearing a 2nd amendment gun rights shirt, which I felt was inappropriate, but I guess he can wear what he wants in his establishment. In any case, the menu was great (if pricey). The burgers were upwards of $20 each. However, we decided to get the fish sandwich (it was Friday), and the Cuban (which is one of the harder sandwiches to get right in CNY). Both were great. The chips were pretty good, the fries were underdone, but we ate it all. Oh, and my son tried the unsweetened ginger peach iced tea. Very subtle, but refreshing. Our server was very good. Food took awhile to come out, but we were in no hurry. And a lot of locals came in while we were there ( a good sign).

An ACTUAL Cuban sandwich in NY .... Say What?

So while its not fine dining or the…read moreideal atmosphere (with its funny 80's plastic table covers ), Uncle J's is a wonderful representation of the small village it resides in. I enjoyed the flatbread pizza, largely due to the flatbread itself. I have noticed a large void of good pizza crust in this area and surrounding villages, so this scratched that itch. The fried pickles were bar food at its best. A crisp, spear, rendition instead of the flimsy pickle chips found in many diners. They make their own dressings and the blue cheese dressing alone will bring me back. The fries were also good, but the margaritas could use some work. The mix tastes like gatorade, so still drinkable, but if the homemade nuance from that crave-worthy blue cheese dressing could be applied, it would be a lovely elevation and bring me back more than my budget should allow. The music on Thursday at their first strings and wings was F*#$ing fantastic!! I did not catch the performers name, but folks, come with cash for tips because this artist brought his A game. Multi-genre, great guitar skills, and a fabulous voice. We sat in the dining because the bar area is a bit small for eating, but we could hear him perfectly and it made the night. This event with the crowd spread them thin and tested the kitchen, but besides a "relaxed" pace of the food coming out, there was no impact to service and everyone was lovely. We must support these local gems if we want them in our backyard. So while I will be a thorn in their side trying to push for an upgraded cocktail experience, I will also be a devout local advocating for my community to be the same. Well done Uncle J's!

Just a few barflies sitting in the front room, so we went into the dining room which was empty. Our server/bartender was very attentive and great. Guinness was properly poured too. We ordered the steak tips main and the chicken riggies main. Each came with a salad and a small loaf of bread for the whole table to share. Salads were fresh and crunchy. Bread was fresh and soft. Portions were massive and the riggies were a bit hit. The steak was overdone, but ok. The gravy on top however was an odd color and texture without much flavor other than a slight sour tang. The dish would have been better served without the gravy. In any case, we were too full for dessert.

Food was insanely quick, i would go so far as saying fastest prime rib ive ever gotten. Mac Salad had tuna in it (not a complaint in fact i liked it more but not everyone will like that so just a heads up). Mashed and gravy was really good. Whipped and the beef gravy was so savory. The prime rib came with au jus on the side but itself was not very flavorful, the gravy and au jus helped. The service was pleasant but decently spaced out time wise for drink refills. Overall really good and would go back to try other things. $50 for 2 meals, tax, and tip. Not bad.

We should have known by the outside appearance/condition of the building that we were making a BIG mistake. The exterior is in different states of damage and disrepair, the door at the entrance with the handicap ramp only opens 2/3rds of the way, then it gets stuck on the handicap ramp. Once inside, the decor hasn't been updated since 1955 by the looks of things, especially the FILTHY and disgusting carpeting that was ripped and dirty. The bathroom floor was uneven, and stuck to your shoes. The menu is a couple of sheets of paper, with a row of staples down their edge, to hold it together. The food was sub-par, especially the french fries that were grossly under cooked. We sent the first batch of them back, and the waiter brought us a fresh batch that wasn't much better than the first ones. He said they couldn't cook them any more or they would "burn"...They were still under cooked on the inside. I had a "crispy chicken sandwich ($11.99), that was like a frozen patty. If you wanted ANY toppings, like pickles, lettuce, tomato, EACH item cost an extra .75, and there's NO sauce or ANY type of condiment that comes on or with the sandwich. Our daughter ordered the "Sampler platter", which consisted of onion rings, two small chicken tenders (first bite was nasty, couldn'teat that "tender"), and a couple mozzarella sticks. That plate came with a small dish of marinara sauce, and a small plastic cup of an unidentifiable orange colored sauce. My wife had a basic hamburger. The girls drank water, I ordered a root beer. Even the soda was tasteless when it arrived! The bill came to $54.32, before the tip. Definitely would NOT go back there when we're in that area again.

We were greeted by Melissa, a co-owner of the establishment. Ambience was cozy, warm with nice pictures and setting on the wall and a good assortment of rock music ranging from Led Zeppelin to Fleetwood Mac. We ordered two appetizers of the steak fritters (highly recommend) and stuffed tots with bacon and cheddar (again, highly recommend). Both appetizers were incredibly delicious and would absolutely order again. Our main course consisted of a jam covered Gouda burger cooked perfectly with a side of lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles (pickles were VERY good!) and a side of FRESH CUT fries cooked perfectly! The charred bun was a nice touch. The food was a 10/10 as I can't review anything negative about it at all. Melissa did an amazing job balancing her servicing the tables as it was very busy, and made sure to constantly check in on us from time to time to make sure our water glasses were filled and if we needed anything. I give her and her staff a 10/10 for service. The ambience was great overall and was very comfortable. Music playing in the background was very romantic and settling. A great experience for a low key date spot. The owner Melissa said they offer bands sometimes on the weekends, typically a Saturday night. Melissa, if you and your husband happen to read this...keep doing what you're doing! Your food is VERY GOOD, some of the better burgers I've had in this area and your ingredients are outstanding.
