Our famous track, Flemington Fair Speedway, the country's fastest 5/8 mile D-shaped dirt track is now gone (1915 to 2002). Flemington grew and property became more expensive. The track's property, once out in the middle of farm fields, became more expensive, property taxes raised, so the track closed so Flemington could build a multi-use town center and a Loews on the property. Most of our dirt tracks were once in the middle of nowhere, then the towns kept creeping closer and closer to the tracks. Original home owners couldn't complain about the noise, but the 2nd owner of the houses can. And did. New York state, Connecticut, Maryland tracks all suffered. Same with Ascot Park in LA.

I would've given a five star rating but the track crew wasn't able to get the track watered enough for good racing until the last race, the feature for the IRA 410 winged sprints. Three classes of open wheel cars and we watched follow the leader on the bottom of the track with the winner coming from the front row for 15 races or more. Fastest qualifier was the very first car with the track drying up and becoming a slip and slide and a slow one groove track all night. I have never seen a dirt track watered on the top and bottom with nothing put in the middle. The top was not working until the last race. Four of us drove 5 hours to see the show only to wonder why are they not getting this track fixed/watered. NOT ACCEPTABLE!! Probably will never come back...

The evening started st 1815 and was filled with fun until about 2230. Thir lineup included standard racing but also a powder puff race, demolition, and spectator races. My parents have lived in the area for years, and we've always heard the cars from a distance but never made it out to the racetrack. I'm so glad we finally did. It was such a fun night for our whole family, including two toddlers. According to their website, kids five and under are free, which made it even better. They also offer discounted senior tickets, which was only a couple dollars off, but every bit counts and it was appreciated. The cars are loud, so I definitely recommend bringing noise-canceling headphones for little ones or anyone sensitive to sound. We brought headphones for the kids and my parents, and earplugs for ourselves. They also had inexpensive earplugs available in the store, which was great. The atmosphere is casual, fun, and family-friendly. It's not a fancy raceway, so I wouldn't go in expecting anything overly polished or upscale, but that's part of what made it so enjoyable. It felt like a relaxed, relatively inexpensive, easygoing night out. There is bleacher seating and lawn seating, and there really isn't a bad seat in the raceway. I noticed the regulars brought portable/camping chairs, so I would definitely recommend bringing those, along with blankets and maybe an umbrella depending on the weather. It rained the night we went, and they did pause for a rain delay. There isn't much covered space to hang out during rain, but you can head back to your car until it slows down. Food and drinks were reasonably priced, including beer, which was a pleasant surprise. My dad has some trouble walking, but we were able to find a good spot where he could be comfortable and still see everything. Overall, this was such a fun experience for all ages. The kids had a blast, my dad enjoyed his birthday outing, and we cannot wait to go again. Since it is seasonal, I would definitely make it a to-do item while you can.

One of the highlights was hitting the racetrack at Dells Raceway Park. Let me tell you, everyone had an amazing time zooming around the track. There were new Fiats, classic ones, and everything in between, and everyone loved being on the track. A lot of folks enjoyed getting multiple turns driving with different passengers who wanted to experience the ride but didn't necessarily want to take the wheel. The staff were awesome to work with while we were there. I totally recommend checking out Dells Raceway Park!
