Like most places in italy, you first go to the cash register, pay for what you want, then go to the food counter, give the attendant your receipt and get your gelato or pastry or coffee. Not touristy. Many locals were hanging out enjoying their treats. Well worth the visit.

We were starting to say the least having just come from Rome and this was our 1st stop along the auto route. Before taking the 3 hour long trip of the museum and the palace up the road we decided to get some nourishment and we were not disappointed neither and quality nor and portion size nor price. All of the specialty deserts appear to be made by one of the finest pastry shops in the South and appear to be fresh and imported daily. The coffee of course was impressive. But what was most notable in this shop was the homemade style lunch entrees. The potatoes and onions were so well seasoned and went well with the breaded chicken cutlets that was hammered thin and breaded and fried to perfection. They make a home style macaroni and cheese casserole served in your own personal pot and it was delicious. As we sat and ate at the high tops we could see that this is clearly not a touristy destination but one for all the locals who are coming in to grab them swept self a quick bite a coffee or a hot pressed sandwich. And of course if it is the Winter season don't forget to pick up one of the many selections of panetone a breads that they have on display. The street parking is tough but if you only need to walk a few blocks to the West you will find a public parking facility that has its own well kept restroom and the rates per hour were very reasonable.

As an American, I am really not used to drinking espresso at the bar of a coffee shop, but as they…read moresay, when in Napoli it's ok to drink 2 cappuccinos in a row but only if it is before noon. After noon, only espresso. It was the best coffee I had in Italy. It was so good I bought a kg of the house beans to bring home. 7 euro for a huge bag. Every time I grind it up and make a quick pour over it bubbles up all frothy like the freshest beans you've ever had. I wish that bag could last forever.
