best place in town for sushi. would be 5 stars but its just so damn expensive! very nice inside also kept very clean. menu is awesome lots of choices of sushi and also chicken and other alternatives for people that don't like sushi. the general tao is straight up GAS! (really good) I highly recommend this place but try for lunch because its a little cheaper. all you can eat is definitely the way to go read more

While this is a rather pricey spot if you've come for the fresh-buffet style meal it is still my favourite place to eat in peterborough if I have an appetite. I must have been here a dozen times in the few years I've lived here and tried all the options by now. Apart from a few of the dumplings, that I think could be improved, I've loved them all. If it's busy the sushi may seem a bit rushed but the quality of ingredients is always phenomenal. Friendly and helpful staff pairs well with some fun art. The booths could be comfier but with the quick service and delicious food you may not notice. Also i can't leave before having the green tea ice cream which isn't very common anymore. read more

Madoi is my all time favourite sushi place and I always try to go every time I'm in Peterborough. It's always busy but the waitresses and waiters still make their rounds to make sure every thing is tasting good and for refills. I love the japchae I would totally recommend. The atmosphere and music along with good food makes it a place you need to try. read more

I love this place! I discovered my hollow leg can in fact be over filled lol. the food and service are very good!! I and my group never felt neglected or forgotten even though it was busy. when a server was near us and I had a question I would call on them and even though they were serving someone else they would simply politely ask me to wait till they were finished with said customer and then they would answer my question right away and politely. The food was so good I literally over stuffed myself. I have inadvertently thru no fault of theirs caused a bit of a scene due to something that happened with me and they were very gracious and patient. I tipped them big tips for putting up with those instances!. I highly recommend this place! the only problem, you can drive past it without even knowing it's there lol. Good place to go! read more

Food is decent, though it has some wierd issues I've encountered the multiple times I've been there. The first one being the confusing ommissions from the lunch menu that are on the dinner menu. Example being a basic shrimp tempura roll only being on dinner, yet the lunch menu offers more sophisticated sushi rolls readily. Also the pricing is questionable. Going twice in the same week with the same food and order somehow yielded a 10 dollar price difference. read more

Reasonably priced and the fish is mostly fresh tasting, however I had some tuna that was EXTREMELY fishy (not in the usual way, it was a very pungent taste.) Don;t slice the nigiri so thin! Exceptionally slow service. I'm writing this review while sitting in the restaurant. We're a party of 2, have been sitting here for almost 1.5hrs for the lunch buffet and have only been served 4 out of the 7 plates of food we ordered. The waitress misplaced our other orders so we had to place them again. We've been waiting for 20 mins for our new orders to come in. It's laughably awful service. read more

They charge for half eaten dish , even if it's not good and won't serve smaller orders if one person prefers the dish. Be careful. Ruins the experience especially when they mention it as yiu are finishing. I am guessing servers are watched what gets returned to kitchen by manager. Uncomfortable. Won't be back. read more

Went to Madoi for sushi lunch and ended up eating a piece of BROKEN GLASS that was in my sushi roll. I completely understand that mistakes happen but how they handled the situation was AWFUL. I almost broke a tooth, not to mention nearly swallowed, this hard piece of glass. Our server was extremely sweet about it and was clearly frazzled. However, management was the worst. They did not come over and apologize and at first made the server come over (using her like a pawn) and offer us ONLY twenty percent off our meal. 20% discount for finding broken glass in your meal? IN WHAT WORLD?? The server was clearly embarrassed to only be offering that discount and I could tell that management was not budging. The server left and came back again after a discussion with the manager and told me this time my food was free BUT we still had to pay for our pops. I told the server this was not her fault and proceeded to make my way to the manager (who was hiding behind a counter) and talk to him. I told the manager that this service was ridiculous. Had the manager come over right when it happened and apologized and told us there would be no charge, I would be way more understanding (and probably be back in the future) but to hide behind a bar and make your server (who has nothing to do with this) run back and forth is ridiculous. Bunch of cowards. Yeah sure they got 6 bucks out of me for pop today but they've lost out on way more money considering we won't be going back in the future due to how they handled this situation so poorly. read more

Overall Madoi is the best sushi all you can eat in Peterborough with a reasonable price. Pretty popular with students from surrounding areas. Recommend it. read more

We went on Friday and was 80% full. We were seated inside a room since all booth seats were taken. Service is very slow, and it was hard to get server's attention as they would rarely come by to check up on the tables. Food is very mediocre, but because they're in a small town I guess they could get away with it. We ordered kalbi 3 times. The last order never came. We waited about 20 min, and finally tagged down a server to ask the whereabouts of our kalbi. They told us they are 'out'. How can you be out of anything on a busy night at a BUFFET. That made me upset as they never came to tell us that they were out of Kalbi, so made us wait for nothing. Also, other tables were still getting their kalbi served, so they were lying to us as we were keep ordering it numerous times. I would not return to this location. I would save my money and just go to 168 sushi buffet when I go back to toronto. read more

Not a bad place to eat. The product is reasonably good and the staff are friendly. It has to work on cleanliness and decor, and occasionally there is a strong sewer smell in the air. I wouldn't recommend it for a date spot or a business lunch, but overall not bad and a good value. read more

I'd like to start this review by saying this place is a health and safety hazard. As I entered the restaurant I stood in the door for several minutes before I gave up and took my own seat. I was then served lukewarm water and given a Samsung tablet! who uses Samsung! After I had selected my food, I waited several minutes before I was finally served what was just the beginning of a vicious onslaught of what I thought might be prison food. I'll start with the seaweed salad, I'm scared that if I had baking soda it would have reacted with the puddle of vinegar in my salad and blown up in my face. I was then served what was supposed to be general Tao's chicken. It was chicken nuggets unworthy of even the obese children that visit McDonald's. I ended up throwing half of the chicken under the table to avoid having to pay the all you can eat extra fees. And then things really took a turn for the worse. as I scrolled through the list of options I was appalled to find things such as French fry sushi and I eventually settled on some shrimp tempura, a green dragon roll and the "mount fuji roll". Lets start with the tempura, the amount of batter on these shrimp would have sent a contestant on my 600 pound life into a coma for a month. I then sampled the green dragon roll which had a brown sticky sauce on it. As I sampled it, I realized the avocado was really just green baby food in disguise, it was probably 3 stages too far into fermentation as it stuck to the back of my throat like peanut butter. With only one dish left I thought to myself there is nowhere to go but up, sadly once the meal arrived I envisioned Lucifer himself sitting with me as I descended into the lowest rings of hell. As I sat there smelling the shredded fake crab marinated with mayonnaise and a dark orange sauce I started to reconsider my life choices. A pang of jealousy arose within me as I saw the homeless man across the street starving, oh how I wish I was him. The Mount Fuji roll, caused me to add poison control to the very top of my speed dial list in case I was dying of food poisoning I could call them and ask for them to put me out of my misery. Because I was scared of having to pay for not eating this atrocity I rolled it up in some napkins from the other table and transported it to the bathroom hoping no one saw. As I stood in the bathroom with the moist package of fake crab and mayonnaise I started to panic because there was no garbage just a toilet and a baby change table. I went with the toilet, because if a baby was in that bathroom it had probably already gone through enough torture for the day. As I dropped the package inside it floated for a few seconds like a bug in Jell-o then sank to the bottom of the porcelain saviour I call a toilet bowl. Sadly even the toilet couldn't keep that hell down as it resisted the industrial flush power of the toilet and clogged it beyond repair. I promptly payed and left the premises with the mints I took from the desk hoping they couldn't screw that up as well. I would like to conclude by saying this is not me trying to be funny I truly experienced this and I advise you to avoid this awful establishment they call Madoi sushi. read more

This used to be my favourite sushi place downtown, however customer service has been terrible recently. The wait staff all get very confused regarding orders, as they brought us two of the same plates, each with three rolls on them. Though they were able to bring us the same sushi on different occasions, they were unable to bring one piece of tempura despite me asking over three times. The orders have been nothing but confusing instead of easy and we could not enjoy our meal as we only received half. Aji sai is much better. read more
