Glove heaven ! We were so lucky - when we arrived there was no one else in the store. The woman who works there was amazing! She assessed my size and presented me with probably 100 options. She was able to articulate the differences with what was hand stitched, what was machine stitched, different linings etc. Thru an elimination process I somehow got down to 3 pairs, 2 for me and one for a gift. The gloves and leather are beautiful - so many colors! The pricing was good, much less then equal quality in the USA. It was a great experience that I highly recommend. read more

Every time I'm in Florence, Italy, I purchase a pair of gloves. I could but more than one pair, but I limit myself to one, so that I have something to look forward to. Madova Gloves is my latest discovery, and I'm wondering why it's taking so long to find this place. First off, the store is incredibly small, but it's absolutely packed with a variety of different gloves, sizes, colors, and so much more. The women that run the store aren't overly friendly, but they are very knowledgeable about most of their products. Their window display is pretty amazing. Their gloves are all handmade and stitched, and I would highly recommend that once you find a pair that you like, that you, Tryon, another pair of the same style, because the fit may be slightly different. You pay for what you get, and while I find most of their gloves to be reasonably priced for the quality, and the fact that they are handmade, you can't go wrong. My purchase this trip is a gorgeous pair of hot pink gloves that I'm excited to wear during the colder months at home. Great store with amazing gloves! read more

I'd spotted a pair of gloves on the The Ponte Vecchio amidst all the gold and jewelry that I had really liked. They were were a beautiful pale pink neutral color (79 euro) with stitching but I really wanted to visit Madova so I didn't purchase them. I found a very similar pair here in a different neutral shade and lined with cashmere instead of silk. I'll admit I don't often have a use for gloves living in Los Angeles, only some mornings are ever cold enough to require a cashmere lined glove but I do own a few pairs of gloves. I wasn't in need of anything leather so I felt a nice pair a gloves would be a perfect little gift to bring home from Firenze. It was my first time ever actually being properly fitted for a glove, which I liked. My pair here was a bit less (63 euro) than what the place on the bridge wanted and although those seemed nice I was really going on reputation and felt Madova was the place to purchase a glove even if the color was a little different than what I'd liked at the other place. My son says he likes this color better so that makes me happy. We walked in and were helped immediately and within a few minutes the store was full with a wait, and people asking when's a good time to come. It can change moment to moment. I'd say if there's a wait, stay or return at some other time to check. I didn't take long at all because I knew the exact style and color I had in mind but I suppose others can take longer. I bought a pair of driving gloves from the Madova shop across the Ponte Vecchio in July 2023. Other than the silly romantic notion of buying leather goods in Firenze I would not buy another Madova product. I have had to ask my wife to repair the poorly stitched seams on 4 separate occasions. I don't wear them frequently (I interchange them with 3 other pairs of driving gloves). So, they have not been excessively used or abused. Review their statements on their website but the truth is, compared to the other 3 pairs I own (Cafe Leather, Dents and Fort Belvedere), the Madova gloves are not up to their quality. read more

I live in the cold American Midwest and am a delicate flower - so I knew that picking up quality gloves was in my "to do in Florence" list. I had done some reading up and the general consensus was that this place offered authentic craftsmanship, decent prices and lots of choice. I chose plain black leather lined with wool but cashmere lined models are available. If you don't know exactly what you want, check the exterior window displays first as all items are behind the counter. The staff will make sure you are sized correctly and that your purchase "fits like a glove" so to speak. It's a good place to pick up gifts, if you know the person's size. I would come back here and stock up on multiple pairs of gloves in a heartbeat. In my opinion this is the only store worth buying gloves from in the area - you can tell immediately from the texture of the leather and the quality of the lining that these are made to last (and at a very reasonable price point). My only regret is that we controlled ourselves and only got one pair per person! So many beautiful leather colors with soft liners. The older woman at the counter (for all i know, the owner) true to form did ask me to hold up my hands, quickly scanned them, picked one up, and then correctly predicted my size within what felt like 60 seconds. After much debate I picked a gorgeous cobalt blue leather glove that has lasted far better over 2 years than any other leather gloves (even designer ones) that I've owned. T also got leather men's gloves that have aged beautifully. If you can, come with cash as they will give you a tiny bit of a discount. read more

Great experience - bought two pairs of men's leather, cashmere lined gloves of excellent quality here - good service. It's a smaller shop than I thought it would be. But I love what I bought here. Reasonably priced. I paid about 60 Euro for each pair (in December 2014), which is around the same price you would pay at Macy's or Bloomingdale's for a quality pair of men's leather gloves. NOTE: They are not there to make friends - they find you what you want, you buy it, and away you go - it's a small shop, so the faster they get you out, the more room they have in the shop for someone else - so you can't blame them for being slightly abrupt in their dealings with customers. read more

Many years ago before online shopping was invented I ordered via post handmade leather gloves from Madova. One had to trace one's hands on paper and post it back to them. The best and ironic thing about purchasing these gloves was that it was actually cheaper than buying the stuff they sell here in the US. My first visit to the beloved Madova was during a family vacation in 2002. Friends in retail in the US swore by the quality of Madova gloves and I was curious as to why/how they could be so great. That was then, this is 2015, and I still wear all 6 pairs of gloves my parents bought me as a kid in 2002! The store is the most unusual. A bit jet-lagged, we literally ran to the store immediately after checking into our hotel. Madova has to be the smallest shop I've ever been in, yet it is etched in my heart as one of the most positively memorable. From floor to ceiling was a sea of leather gloves, as smooth as butter and as colorful as a rainbow, along with earth-tones and black. Staff used a ladder to get to those gloves that were up high. Styles were offered in unlined, silk, cashmere, and rabbit fur lined. One style I love has each finger with a different color - gorgeous! Spring 2002 was also the unveiling of the euro, which still had gloves around $35 - $40 each, which was a lot cheaper than lesser quality in the States. I went back this Spring, and they were just as amazing and about 50 euros or $52. I haven't yet ordered any gloves online, but I'm told the experience is very positive! read more

Same for the mens. The staff are experts, and can tell by looking at your hand what size you take even before you put your elbow on the velvet pillow to try them on. I got several pairs for easy-pack gifts, in the most delicious colors. My husband got summer and winter styles of driving gloves. We were very pleased. A note of caution: if you spend over 150 Euros, ask for the TAX REFUND FORM upon purchase, or you won't get your 22% tax refund back at the airport.
