This completely unprofessional dude came highly recommended from an attorney I was already working with. So I felt comfortable calling them. As a licensed professional, this hearing and criminal charge was a big deal and could have had huge impacts on my life and career. I spoke to him on a Monday or a Tuesday and I had a hearing scheduled for the following Monday. He wanted the entire fee upfront. I simply didn't have all of it. I told him I could give him a substantial down payment and could pay him the entire fee within a couple weeks. He explained how he had such respect for my profession as he had worked in my field in the past. He assured me he was with me and was going to help me. He told me he would call my by the end of the week with a payment arrangement he would accept. So I relaxed. I didn't call anyone else. By Friday I hadn't heard from him. I was very anxious but I just trusted he would keep his word. After all, he was a recommendation from another attorney with whom I liked and had experience with. On Saturday, I tried to call his office because I had received no communication from his office whatsoever. No calls. No emails. Nothing. So I was able to find another attorney on a weekend who took my case and she was amazing. This guy began calling me Monday morning at the same time the hearing was taking place. He did not do what he said. He lied to me. He ignored my situation. His communication is so unprofessional that it is non-existent. If you value yourself, your case, your money, your time, and your respect, run as fast as you can away from this law firm!!

I hired Anne Whately in February 2023 for my divorce case after my previous attorney went on…read morematernity leave. Initially, she seemed competent during our first conversation, but things quickly went downhill from there. I chose Anne because her hourly rates were lower, ignoring the negative reviews on Yelp and Avvo--and I paid the price for that mistake. She mentioned not having a paralegal, which means she does all the work herself. While her rates may be lower, this setup ultimately made things more expensive in my opinion. Please don't overlook these reviews as I did. My case was straightforward, but Anne consistently made it seem more complicated than it needed to be. Every time an issue arose, she made it appear as though it was my fault. I repeatedly asked to meet with her in person to discuss the case, believing in-person interactions would help clarify things. She refused every time, not even offering a Zoom call--only phone calls, which was a red flag. Anne also turned minor issues into major complications and rarely pushed back on my spouse's attorney. She even urged me to accept offers that left money on the table. We continued to have ongoing issues and we finally decided to part ways after I had paid her thousands of dollars to address issues which should have been resolved in 1/10th of time Anne spent on them and that too without my satisfaction. After parting ways with Anne, I met with two other attorneys who provided creative solutions that Anne hadn't even considered. Taking their advice, I met with my spouse's attorney to negotiate. To my surprise, the conversation was 10 times easier than dealing with Anne. I was able to push back on several points where Anne had previously told me to compromise, and I discovered she had even misunderstood parts of their settlement offer. Incredibly, within just one day of Anne no longer handling my case, I settled it on much better terms than anything she had suggested. I re-negotated more than half of the settlement terms Anne had suggested me to agree on. Not to mention, I finalized my divorce within two days of parting ways with Anne. Looking back, I'm 100% confident I should never have hired Anne Whately. If I could negotiate a better outcome myself, that says a lot about her performance. In short, please take the negative reviews seriously and learn from my experience.

Absolutely TERRIBLE law firm! We used this law firm for a divorce. Initially we dealt with an…read moreassociate attorney but she did not last long with the firm (seems to be a repeating theme). We paid our retainer, followed the advice she and Anne gave us and filed with the courts. Divorce done, or so we thought. Well fast forward to now and it turns out said divorce is missing the final judgment. When I reached out to Anne for clarification and an explanation of what that meant she was very rude, immediately became defensive and said "that's not on me" followed by "I think we're done here" and ended the call. Now we have to figure out what the next steps actually are and somehow complete what we were told had already been done (and paid for). Do not waste your time or your money with this firm you will end up regretting it, we certainly are!
