I pretty much ignored that fact, and decided to have ACYE Korean BBQ with a few friends in Sunnybank (yes, this is now back in Brisbane). Being rather out the way by bus/public transportation, I was quite glad to have friends with cars, so we made it without having to walk in the rain for a while. I must say, I was a bit surprised that the seating was pretty much all outside for this restaurant (thankfully under a shed). Apparently one of the cheap to moderately priced ACYE K-BBQ places in Brisbane (it was 27.5 pp for dinner), this place really doesn't have that big of a variety of meats. They pretty had one type of marinade for each meat, which was cut interestingly to what I was expecting. The meat was thicker than I expected - which, if you're trying to eat more, then it's a good things - but I think I prefer the thinner cuts. The marinade for the pork didn't quite hit the spot, and one of the marinades was a bit sweet for my taste, but I did find that the chicken was my favorite. They had a good variety of side dishes, including japchae (glass noodle 'salad'), as well as dumplings, soup, etc. Not the most impressive food-wise, but the lady was super nice - quite possibly because our token Korean spoke up. ;) Note: They play continuous K-POP on tv, pretty loudly - so it can get a bit annoying, but if you're into that, then this might be your place!

It's all you can eat for only 25 bucks a head!…read more Food quality was super! We got stuffed with awesome Korean BBQ bulgogi, kick*ss marinated rib Galbie etc etc. Pork belly and ox tongue have never tasted this good! It's pretty fun cooking for yourself too! Seafood (prawns, octopus, mussels) were fresh and Kimchi, authentic. Their service is awesome because fast. They come and change grills, constantly cooks stuff for you in front of you etc. so much work... The only thing we were bummed about was that they stop refilling the buffet from 9pm and you may be rushed to leave the table. I got toured along by 2 gfs, one of whom was a Tobaki regular! Their deal is popular and bookings are essential, but spaces are limited. Highly recommended.

I ordered the Slaw Burger with fries. Oh, I mean, COLD fries. The burger does not state that it is spicy on the menu. An abhorrent amount of sauce both in the slaw and on the burger itself which was also coated in a nauseating glaze. I literally had to scrape the over zealous amount of sauces off the bred. Those bread boards they are served on, just plane idiotic! Plus, they look none-too-clean. By the time I'd done my best with my revolting "dining experience", I ensured to leave a note on the paper which encloses the burger, stating way too much sauces with an unhappy face. One more thing, the preposterous volume of the music blaring so you couldn't speak to your partner.

It was weird. I had the spicy chicken which was actually quite good but definitely spicy. The main problem was the service. You order on the app, but we waited about 40 minutes to get our food. I went up to the counter to inquire and several service members made a point to walk past me and never make eye contact to help me. My companion finally came up from the porch to tell me our food had finally arrived - that's how long it too. Then when it was time to pay, similar experience - couldn't catch the eye of anyone.

Mr Bap - Bulgogi in a hot stone bowl. Not great, a bit bland. The beef could be more flavoursome and the bowl could be deeper. $14.50

But there was a guy today that seemed to be the manager. He ushered people in; by that, I mean he mostly just pointed where people could sit. He walked around the restaurant frequently and seemed to make sure people are doing things correctly (both customer and staff). To me, he seemed controlling and pushy. I got told off for touching the BBQ smoke pipe that's attached to every table. You're supposed to move that flexible pipe up or down depending on how much smoke is around. He pounced on our table and said I shouldn't pull it down too much. Firstly, I wasn't even playing with it that aggressively. Secondly, I told him he should have told us that particular pipe had an issue and for us not to touch it as soon as we sat down. To which, he completely ignored and reiterated that I shouldn't touch it so hard. I would have appreciated the little lecture if he didn't have such an attitude about it. Food - we had the $75 set meal to feed 3-4 people. The meat selection was generous and very delicious (awesome marinades - my faves are the pork belly and bulgogi beef). My issue is with the "assorted vegetables" that is part of the set. We got a basket of lettuce + about 4 thinly sliced either sweet potato or pumpkin, a piece of corn that's like even smaller than a quarter of a whole (no joke) and one mushroom. I questioned the waitress, asking if that was right, that these vegetables are supposed to feed four people & I pointed at the booger size of a corn and all she said was "you get the lettuce as well." Right. Confused. Ok then. If it wasn't for the quality and taste of the food, i would be giving this place one or two stars. The service and treatment from that guy mentioned above and the lack of thought that went into the vegetable accompaniments disappointed me today.
