Large chicken fried steak, gravy, cole slaw and twice baked tater casserole.

What a great find. Saw this place on The Daytripper TV show and have been meaning to try it since. Today was the day. Very unassuming place but excellent food, friendly service, and reasonable prices for what you get. The chicken fried steak was huge (see photo) and very, very tasty. Breading had great spice flavor. Gravy was excellent as well. Same breading in the hand breaded onion rings were just as good. Just a bit salty for my ideal but not over the top. Can't wait to come back to check out the steaks. You can pick them out of the meat market counter if you'd like. They have a salad bar too, but didn't check it out and a large selection of great sounding pies and cheesecakes though so full we didn't even think about it.

Here's your Yelp review based on the transcription: --- Hidden Gem in Eastland - Mae's Meat Market & Café If you ever find yourself in Eastland, TX, make sure to stop by Mae's Meat Market & Café. Tucked behind a gas station, this family-owned spot might not look like much from the outside, but inside, you'll find warm hospitality and some of the best home-cooked meals around. I tried their famous Piggy Tails--tender strips of pork, floured and fried to perfection. They were crispy, flavorful, and everything you want in a comfort food dish. The salad bar was fresh and well-stocked, adding a nice balance to the meal. The staff was incredibly welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. Another big plus? Plenty of open parking, which was especially convenient since I was pulling my 5th wheel. If you're passing through Eastland or just looking for a great local spot, Mae's is absolutely worth a visit. Good food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere--what more could you ask for?

Drop in for an a-mae-zing "down home" experience. Our party of four ordered catfish, cole slaw, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, a bacon cheeseburger, and a grilled cheese). All food was excellent. The place was very busy but we were seated right away, checked on frequently, and served quickly. Service was outstanding. Interior had a fun "hole in the wall" vibe.

We stopped here for lunch on our drive to New Mexico from DFW and man was it wonderful! Only 5 minutes off highway. Picnic tables in the middle of a meat market with a really cute atmosphere, they take their meat fresh from the market to make your meal and also, sell fresh milk and bread as well. The staff was very attentive and kind! Very texas feel. I had the Maverick burger and it was quite honestly the best burger I've ever ate in my life! I did add green chilies on this burger...and my husband also loved the funky chicken sandwich, it was so tasty! We will be coming here on every drive. Highly recommend!

We discovered Mae's on yelp, and it was definitely a slice of local food. We arrive shortly before closing time and were still warmly welcomed. The food arrived quickly, and was delicious. Highly recommend.

We heard great things about Circle H but what a disappointment! We purchased 2 top sirloin steaks (…read moretotal two pounds ) and they were very tough and had little taste. We ate less than half and threw the remainder away. We also bought some fajita beef so we're hoping it's better or at least good enough to eat all of it. We won't be returning.

I spend almost couple hundred dollars each time I go and this last time I bought a seasoning and when I got home to use it, it was unsealed and the seasoning was pretty hard so I assumed that maybe some moisture got into it. I went back to go see if I can exchange it for a new one and the blonde lady that was working there, not sure if she's the owner or whatever but stared at me as if I was just talking out of my ass, then walked over to the seasonings just to then talk to me like I was stupid and acted like I didn't know what i was talking about or I was lying about it being opened and then tried to convince me that all of the seasonings Are like that. She also said that the lid most likely tore the seal off itself, which that has never happened to me before but either way, the seasoning was hard, and there was no telling how long it had been open on the shelf. Some of them did stick closer to the top, but once you shook it, it all easily broke apart, the one I have is almost completely solid from top to bottom. EITHER WAY, I would've loved a seasoning that was completely sealed when I open it. Instead of just exchanging the $12 seasoning after spending almost $200 there just a couple days before, she gave me a really hard time about it and was super rude and basically told me none of the other seasonings were any better like a "too bad, so sad" attitude. I just said OK and she just walked right back to the front without saying another word to me. Her facial expressions and the way she quickly dismissed me was just so uninviting and disrespectful and me and my toddler just walked out. We won't be going back there. I'll find a new place to get our meat.

This is a game changer :D There are freezers full of delicious frozen offerings, fries, jalepeno taters, fried pickles, etc, and we grabbed a few to try. Also, there is a wall of quite the selection of local honey, jams, etc. BUT the real gem, the raw meat counter was chock-full of incredible cuts and varieties of meats! We decided to try to the cordon bleu chicken and brisket poppers this trip, as well as an 18 pound brisket, YUM! The employees were ready to help with any questions and even handed us a basket when our hands started to get too full. So grateful! I will note for future review readers, there is about a 4% card charge. Apparently there are signs that I missed while I was busy bouncing my eyes from product to product, so I ended up having to call once I got home about why the receipt showed a much high price than the label on the meats. So, the price label on the products is the cash price, totally understandable! In conclusion, Wise Choice exceeded our expectations on meat selection, and they even have Diet Dr Pepper and Topo Chico (I didn't have to run to Walmart for sodas! Woohoo!). Thanks team!!

I don't know what I am doing with game processing, as the business associate clearly pointed out to me over the phone. I left a deer for processing and was given a form that quoted me $85 for the meat. My family member picked up my deer after being notified that it was ready. Upon pickup, my family member was told that the total charge was $153, nearly twice as much. On the form I was given, no other fees or prices were written or highlighted. Again, the only price noted was $85. I immediately called to inquire, and was told that the additional fees included processing for other types of meat like sausage. I had NO issue paying the additional amount, to which I stated that I understood that the higher price was the true and accurate price. I attempted to explain that this should be conveyed to future customers upon drop-off so they aren't caught off guard upon pickup, but was cut off and told that "any person who has processed deer should know that it costs more than $85." Once again, I am NOT familiar with the process, which is why I relied on Cox Processing for this service. I was in no way attempting to scam or haggle a price down. Again, I had no issue paying the true cost of $153. However, as someone with two business degrees, I was simply trying to offer a piece of advice so future customers wouldn't be caught off guard like I was today. I want to highlight that the product I received is good quality. I've had more than one deer processed at this facility. Going forward though, I will not be returning to Cox Processing given the severe lack of customer service and communication skills.
