For the uninitiated, it's kind of like a flatbread pizza with white sauce and bacon, but even that description doesn't do it justice -- you'll just have to try it! In any case, at lunchtime I had my mind made up for some tarte flambée. A quick search on the app helped me find a nearby restaurant, and my friend and I made our way over. We were immediately seated indoors (although there are large heaters if you want to brave the outdoor seating during the winter time) and placed our order for a tarte flambée. It quickly arrived at our table and -- as happens with a tarte flambée -- it disappeared quickly, and already had our eyes on a different one. My friend ran to the restroom, and while he was gone a server came by to clear his utensils. I asked him to leave them and requested another tarte flambée. A stretch of time passed before our first server came back and we told her we had wanted to order another tarte flambée, and had the other server put that order in. He hadn't, so we had to wait a bit longer. Once not even a crumb was left, we requested the check. It took a while to come, and we gave our server our credit card. After about 10 minutes she hadn't come back by, and we inquired about our check. "Oh, our credit card machines are down and we had to reboot them." Another 10-15 minutes and we inquired again. She came back by with our card and said that the machine was broken, and there is an ATM down the street where we can grab cash. That whole bit was a little inconvenient, so make sure you bring cash and expect service that might be off-putting to Americans. But with the right payment and the right expectations, you'll have a good meal at Jupiler.

It seemed that the front chef was busy chatting on the phone to his girlfriend so we took a seat and waited. After a few minutes, a waiter came by with menus and took drink orders. Tarte Flambée for both of us. Ham and cheese for my friend, "Spicy" for me. Both were the proper portion and loaded with cheese. I can't say that the spicy had much for spicy but it was tasty. There are some many other options in town…read more I ordered the Olive Tomato Cheese bread, and a while after, my food came out and I noticed the bacon on the food, which I wasn't expecting (I thought I ordered a vegetarian option). We grabbed the attention of the waitress, who basically was extremely rude (I've never ever had a waitress this rude, EVER, and I've dealt with some in the past). She basically dismissed me, waved her arm in annoyance, and walked away. Simply walked away!!!! didn't even attempt to resolve my concern. My food sat on the table untouched, and no one bothered to come by at all. When we told her we won't pay for the dish because the menu didn't say anything about the bacon being in there, she grabbed a menu and showed us the note that is buried in the page. Let's assume I made a mistake and didn't see the note on the menu that said the food had bacon, that's fine, things happen, that doesn't You permission to be disgustingly rude to a customer. Even if a customer makes a mistake, I would still expect the waiters to at least be polite and try to accommodate in some form. My issue is not that the food came with bacon. Even though I walked out of the restaurant hungry and had to pay for a meal that I didn't touch. My biggest problem was the extremely rude & poor customer service. Once you knew I don't eat bacon and wasn't satisfied with my order, couldn't the waitress at least recommend some vegetarian options or an alternative. To just be disrespectful and walk away is not the answer.
