We tried it for both lunch and for an aperitivo dinner while staying in Torino for a week and we enjoyed both meals. It is also a wine shop where you can find lots of good wines for all prices, including the numerous locally famous Nebbiolo and Barolo wines. Seating can be outside or indoors and service is friendly.

Try a glass of the daily "Mystery wine" to sample something new and interesting, or pick out a bottle and they'll open it for you. Really remarkable salumi, with probably the best prosciutto I've ever tasted. Also, award-winning ham and mortadella, served with great plum-Barolo jam and gardinera pickles...and warm crunchy-chewy focaccia. There are lovely-looking main dishes, but you can easily make a meal for two out of one of the tagliere (boards) and a side or two. The polpetti meatballs are a good choice, with one of the better tomato sauces I've ever had. The Buffalo mozzarella with arugula and cherry tomatoes is another fresh and delicious option. A salad or side of veg is nice, too, if you have the room for it. The service is professional, friendly and snappy. The place gets loud when it gets busier as the night goes on, so come early if you are looking for a quieter experience. This is your new favorite hang-out in Torino!

Juno and Jupiter be praised that he indeed is. I don't remember what we ate, but I do remember us being utterly floored by how good it was. So much so that in a four day stay, we came for our evening eats TWICE. The owner is one of those happy, lucky few who truly loves what he does for a living (and extremely good as well) and it is so evident in the food he serves. Heed the words of the first reviewer Crystal. Personally, I think it's the best food north of Napoli and that includes that wonderful arena of gluttony, Bologna. If you goto Torino, go here. If only all of life were that simple.

We had the fried fish mixed plate, the house-made ravioli with shrimp, the octopus with potato and it was all so good. As foodie tourists, my husband and I have travelled in most of Italy's big cities (Rome, Florence, Milan, the Lake District) sampling the best restaurants we could find on TripAdvisor, Yelp and the Michelin guide. I can say with certainty that this one, A6 Sciamadda is my number one favorite. Mauro, the chef and owner, delights guests with the flavors of his hometown near the sea. And the wonderful host (I'm sorry I can't spell his name) shares the story of the dish as well as the wine he recommends. This is not simply a meal. It is an experience. You may enter hungry, but you will leave with the happy glow of having spent an hour with a new friend. As travelers, we all know how it is. You search reviews. You look at maps. Over and over, we ask ourselves the same question: Will this be worth it? Worth our time, our money and our travel energy spent to get there. After a quick day-trip to Turin during our Milan vacation, I can promise you that it is totally worth it. In fact, if you begin by eating at A6 Schimada, you may find that, like me and my husband, you change your travel plans and book your next visit to stay here instead.

The current owner who is the son-in-law of the original owner took our order. I ordered the pappardelle Raghu with rabbit and my hubby ordered the braised veal. The veal came with a side of pickled zucchini. I ordered a Da Mauro special salad which was radicchio, tomato, and Parmesan shavings. The salad had no dressing. The cheese was the dressing and it was good. The veal was tender and the tomato sauce was tasty. My pappardelle was good not quite al dente but the sauce was good and the meat was tender. Tasted like chicken ;-) For dessert, I ordered the seasonal fresh fruit with gelato and hubby had wanted a port which they did not carry but the owner recommended something similar but better he said. He tried it but at first thought it was sweeter than he'd liked but after the 2nd sip, it started to grow on him. The food was pretty good and the atmosphere friendly with the servers chit chatting with customers like old friend.
