I uncovered a session of incredible, haunting photos that she took of her own daughter in Parc Outremont one Fall and was instantly sold by their colors, composition, and the portrait of the fragile, fleeting beauty of childhood. Since Kate is a mom, she knows how to relate to kids and how to coax the most beautiful belly laughs and joyful expressions out of them. What she was able to get out of my three year-old daughter and me in that hour or so was pure gold. My favorite photo of my daughter is one that Kate captured during that session, and that's saying a lot since we must have thousands of pictures of our baby girl by now! Kate also offers incredible value. We later did a family session in Central Park with one of New York City's TOP family photographers whose basic fee was about 6 times more than Kate's...and although the photos are indeed beautiful, I think that Kate's work is even more timeless and iconic! I have now had the pleasure of working with Marcie on two occasions, and I cannot say enough about…read morehow pleased and satisfied I was with her work. The first was a 3-day choral music festival that I organize, where she was on her feet from 2pm to 11pm, capturing thousands of moments both onstage and off. She got magnificent pictures of the artists, despite their movement on stage and the dim lighting. She also captured them offstage, and creatively used a black portion of a wall to take portfolio-worthy pictures of the choirs. She was tireless throughout the whole festival, and always remained professional. Her movements were discreet and unobtrusive, and her camera was silent. She was also extremely nice to work with, taking instruction well and yet adding in her own intuitive sense of what to capture. I was so pleased with my experience working with Marcie, that I asked her to be the photographer at my wedding a few months later. This turned out to be an excellent decision too! Once again she was on her feet all day, this time from 9am to 11pm, during which she barely took a single break. There are many challenges during a wedding: balancing pictures of family, friends, the couple, as well as the surroundings and food, and capturing the tenderness of a ceremony as well as the jubilation during the reception, and doing all of this despite many different voices telling you what to do and who to photograph. Marcie did it all, and gracefully so. She stayed calm while others were stressed, and used a multitude of tricks to keep people smiling and hugging for pictures. She has a beautiful way of being soft but firm in her instructions, like "turn those hips this way", "put your hand here", etc. Never does it feel like she's giving orders, but everyone follows her commands effortlessly. In short, I have nothing but praise for Marcie, for the quality of her work and for her excellent communication and interpersonal skills. I would recommend her highly to anyone (and have done so multiple times!) and look forward to working with her again. Michael

Not only is she able to capture the perfect smile, but somehow their individual personalities shine through, despite the generic background and classic "school photo pose". If she can do such a phenomenal job with school photos - photographing hundreds of kids one after the other- then I can only imagine how great the photos would be in a family photo session at home where she can take her time and where the kids are in their own environment and at their most relaxed and comfortable.
