I visited for the first time today and was absolutely blown away. From the design of the store to the location, there is so much to love about 1977 books. I've ordered from them online once before, so it was nice to see the shop in real life. I didn't get a chance to take photos of the shop (I was too busy browsing all of the books), but I managed to get a book that had been on my wish list for a while + a cute conversation deck that I plan on using with my loved ones. My 73 year old husband to several large boxes of books to them. The staff was incredibly rude and refused to offer any kind of assistance. He was forced to bring in heavy boxes and unload them into their boxes and then have many refused and forced to rebox them and carry them out only to find out that they would notify at some point if they would take them. I've noticed people opening them to get the new ones before they're outdated. As I type this mid-January, Halloween decorating magazines are still out, Christmas cooking and decor magazines still in boxes. One female staffer snapped at me for looking through open boxes of unshelved mags that "she's working on it!" This mystery worker was nowhere in sight. Why didn't the snapping staffer work on it instead of walking around biting at customers? On the plus side, there are probably a dozen different Harry Styles magazines everywhere and up at checkout counters so if you're into that silliness, you'll be pleased to know what they prioritize. Not a store for serious readers.
