My 8-year-old nephew nailed it: "diarrhea on a plate." Honestly, that was the most accurate review possible. Not only did it look the part, it caused exactly that! We ordered nachos as an appetizer to split, along with two beers and a kids meal. What arrived was Motley Crue waking from a drug binge, raiding the pantry and trash, then declaring "let's do it." What was supposed to be nachos was anything but. The only explanation is someone who had never seen nachos tried to recreate them after hearing a rumor from someone at a Lowe's parking lot. The "chips" were not tortilla chips. They were rectangular strips of pale, flimsy material that looked like scraps of drywall film pulled out of a new construction site. An albino drywall experiment that somehow escaped the kitchen and landed on a plate. The entire thing was covered in barbecue sauce, with some mystery white liquid poured over the top. We assume it was supposed to be queso, but it definitely was not queso. Calling it queso feels disrespectful to actual queso. We ate maybe a quarter of it and decided we needed to leave before things got worse. Six hours later, we received an unannounced encore performance in the bathroom. I would avoid this place like a plague outbreak--unless you have an upcoming colonoscopy and want to skip the bowel prep. read more

Love the lunch vibe happening at Maggie's RnR and we caught it on a cloudy cooler part of the day for some near Southside patio time. This whole area is historic and trendy. We decided on fish basket and the Superfoods salad with chicken. The portions where generous and served plenty hot. Our server Aniyah was delightful and attentive. It was a nice break from the downtown traffic, construction, to be able to sit back breathe in the air enjoy a meal an actually take a moment to appreciate the historic treasure of the surroundings. My only issue was my drink came in a plastic cup (yuck) I prefer glass but can understand why they use plastic in patio setting but nevertheless a good drink deserves glass. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious! The atmosphere was typical with all high tops in the inside and then lots of outdoor seating. It's Texas though and outside is just way too hot in the middle of the day. Service was quick and our server was spot on with our requests. prices were reasonable for the amount of food, the location and the service! My wife and I stopped by Maggie's RR on a Friday night, expecting a lively atmosphere to kick off the weekend. At first, it seemed promising--it looked busy when we walked in. But shortly after we were seated, the crowd thinned out pretty quickly. By around 9 PM, it was oddly empty for a Friday, which was a bit surprising. They had a live band playing, which I was initially excited about. Unfortunately, it was hard to tell if they were actually good because the sound system made everything come across pretty rough. It wasn't so much the band as it was the audio quality--it just didn't do them any favors. Instead of adding to the experience, it became more of a distraction. Honestly, I found myself wishing they'd wrapped up earlier. As for the food, I ordered the pork chops, and they just didn't hit the mark. The flavor was off and not what I was expecting at all. The mashed potatoes also had a taste that didn't really sit well with me--definitely not something I'd order again. Overall, it wasn't the experience we were hoping for. This was my first time going to Maggie's. It's always been on my list. My friend suggested it so I met him there for lunch on a Monday. It was kind of breezy, so we chose to sit down inside instead of the patio areas and we were able to get a seat immediately. I would definitely sit outside if the weather was nice. My friend and I both ordered the double smash burger and an IPA beer. The service was smooth and efficient. The burger tasted really good, although it really wasn't a "smash" burger. It didn't look smashed at all. The description said it would be "lightly smashed ". It felt like a normal double quarter pounder cheeseburger. I would definitely return to try out more of the menu and hopefully sit outside on a nice day. read more

Okay so this place is super cute for a weekend night with friends! They had a good vibe going with live music and a lively crowd. The spiked blueberry lemonade was mid. Fried pickles, bacon burger and chicken plate are highly recommended. The ambiance is great. We sat out in the patio. It was shaded and cool despite being a hot day. They also have the little fans at each table to help with flies away. We had several drinks they were all good. We also ordered the brisket queso. It was great but the chips were wonton chips. They worked but just were not a cup of tea. We both ordered the brisket bacon burger. It was pretty good although I dont think the patties were handmade but it worked. My first time here and I Loved it! Came on superbowl Sunday and they had bad bunny on, the day was amazing to sit on the patio. We ordered their Mexican candy Rita and Paloma and they were both good, the Paloma did taste stronger at least to me. LOVED their chicken and waffles so good, and their shrimp tacos were super flavorful. The fish tacos were good too but definitely preferred the shrimp ones more. We showed up with a stroller and told we had to sit outside that there was no inside seating - later they seated someone who came after us inside (it was in the upper 90's and we had a 10 mo old with us) - too hot to be enjoyable. Plus I ordered a burger med well done and got one that was med rare - mostly red inside. I don't think I'll be back. The service was good but just not happy with they way we were greeted - they blocked entrance so I didn't even know they had inside seating until I looked in a window and watched someone else being seated inside! read more

We had an appointment at Cooks hospital so ment my husband here for lunch. Service was great, ambiance is very sports bar, food was good but not great. We started with the brisket queso. Loved the cheese but the brisket was a bit overly smoky. The chips are fried wontons. The teen didn't like at all and thought they were soft. Hubs and I enjoyed them. My husband and teen didn't like it but I thought it was ok. Our teen had the lime chicken, chicken was tender and did taste like lime, she liked it. She didn't care for the corn. The vegetables were good. We share the skewers. The steak skewer was way over cook making the meat rather tough. The shrimp were a nice size and good. I thought the fresh vegetables were very good and the favorite thing I ate at the visit. Toddler had the fish and chips was a very nice portion for a child size plate. Went today 7/2/26 to try Maggie's as I was in the neighborhood and was served by Allie who provided wonderful service as I've never been here she pointed out their most popular burger and her favorite which I went with which was the Fort Worth burger, this burger came with pico de gallo/ queso blanco/ avocado/meat and fries as a side. The burger was overall a great size and taste wise it was delicious, the Fort Worth burger was also decently priced, since I don't drink alcohol nor soda I had a cup of water. I met up with a friend for lunch about 1130ish. There was a wait of 25 minutes so just hung around in front of restaurant. I had the fish and chips which were very good and an adequate portion. My only complaint was that the sandwich was a bit too buttery and felt heavy. It comes with fries, but I switched to mashed potatoes at no extra cost. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes were not good and tasted store-bought. The cheese fries were pretty mid too, the fries were not crispy and the cheese added no additional flavor. I didn't try the pasta, but my friend didn't finish it all and didn't take the leftovers home, so that wasn't a good sign. The service was good, and the overall vibes of the place is nice, especially the outdoor seating. Overall, I would not recommend for the food - maybe just a place for people who don't care too much about the food to have some alright food and socialize. read more

Leaving Dickie's Arena, we were looking for something relatively close by and we saw this on Yelp. It had outdoor seating and with a nice Sunday, we found ourselves with a 5 star location! We arrived mid afternoon and it was busy, but we were still able to find an outdoor table under an umbrella. It looked like if people had to wait, the tables turned over quickly so it was probably never more than 10-15 minutes. The live music was excellent. There was a gentleman on a guitar playing everything from Bad Bunny to Morgan Wallen and everyone in between. The food was also pretty excellent for what could be dismissed as patio bar food. Well... it is patio bar food, but elevated and EXCELLENT patio bar food. We had the tequila lime chicken with mashed potatoes and elote as well as the R&R chicken sandwich. We would go back all day every day for those same two options if there weren't a dozen other things to try. I know it's a side dish, but the elote was one of the best we've ever had. Maybe the char from the cast iron skillet made the difference, but it was amazing.
