I will never come here again. They overcharged for a guitar bag that is made with cheap cloth. The shocking part was they also charged me for helping me tune my guitar awhile back. Eventually, I learned to install an app to do it. Going forward, I will be purchasing my guitar accessories at Guitar Center or Sam Ash. Lesson learned. read more

I came in here eleven years ago to buy a book of blank sheet music for my 7th grade piano class with my aunt and uncle. They were so nice, charming, and answered whatever questions I had. I left the store with an acoustic guitar. I have no musical inclinations, whatsoever, save for my ipod, and I've touched that guitar fewer times than a Baldwin has been in rehab. Glad They Had My Guitar, Service Not Good I went to Maggio because they were the one place in the city that had the Luna guitar I wanted. But, the service wasn't good at all. Now, I have read the reviews saying how you are pretty much ignored at most of the city's guitar stores. And, I guess Maggio fits right in that way! I got there and simply wanted to try out the guitar before buying it (gosh forbid!). But, the store guy looked at me strange and all but pulled it out of my hands after I tried it for too long. I bought it regardless, since I had come out to Brooklyn for that purpose. And, I was glad that the store guy took time getting a new boxed guitar for me and was careful with it once he did. But, it was a very strange experience, and I certainly cannot recommend Maggio. read more

Wow. Tiny store/ great people. Bought a Dean Metalman V bass here because no other store in the city had one in stock, and I'm really glad I did. Got an excellent deal and friendly service and got to support a family biz at the same time! I found them through their ebay auctions... otherwise I never would have thought to head out to Bensonhurst, of all places. The location is remote, but its right by a D train stop. Needless to say, its worth the pilgrimage if I need repairs or strings. read more

I hate writing reviews on these places, but after reading a few of the bad reviews here I had to put my two cents in. The first time I walked into this place I was nervous as its not what we expect to see from a store these days. It is a true throw back to the late 70's early 80's, and after spending some time with Ed and Mike I am glad I chose to go with this place. I have an amazing teacher, Antonio, who is always willing to help me learn a new song I like, even if he's never played it before. The lessons are DIRT cheap compared to other places, and the lessons are one on one, not classes. I have not bought a guitar from them as they generally deal more with fender products and I like Gibson, but I know they would stand behind anything 110%. I have however had 5 separate guitars set up here, a Epiphone Acoustic, that sounds awesome, 2 70' guild acoustics, a 79 Ibanez, and a newer Epiphone sg. every guitar came back looking, feeling and sounding way better then when I left it at the shop, and not one of them was expensive, not even my fathers Ibanez that needed soldering work done. I have been taking lessons here for about 2 years now, and I can attest to feeling like family. Mike even told me about a sale on Gibson guitars that a competitor had, because he knew I liked the style that was on sale. You don't get customer service like that anymore. read more

Small store, not many options and a little uper on $$$ with some items. Either they are always busy or they are a little on the ehh about helping ... or maybe its just me. Def. try to get as much as they can from you$ asked for repair they asked for a good $amount$ just to look over it and no return on the money if they tell you they cant fix it... ye, no thanks. Good place since its like the only one around, just not many options from keyboards to buy from and service not the greatest. :( read more

I brought a guitar here for a loud feedback type of noise. the guys looked at it for a while. took the time to diagnose and try different things. they cared about fixing the problem. which I liked. I've been to other stores where they don't seem to care but these guys were good. I try to go back there when I can. and I live in queens. this store is a bit small, a little messy but it's 'organized messy'. ha. I like small businesses owned by normal people who are real New Yorkers. this is the spot. read more

This place is family run by father and son. Both have treated me and my 3 sons like family since day 1. They are reasonably priced, provide terrific teachers for lessons[ I have a young teacher named Antonio who is absolutely the best],fix instruments with the best price for repairs, excellent hours of operation. I highly recommend them and can tell you that if anyone has anything bad to say about them, then they don't know what they are talking about. I would give them 6 stars if I could. read more

Terrible attitude. I called the owner of the place and I asked him general questions about the piano lessons and prices. He hung up on me very rudely. I did end up taking lessons and buying an instrument there, but the owner was never any nicer than that first phone call. I know what you guys mean about the sales people. One guy, one time, the first time I went a couple of years ago was nice and helpful. Every time since, not only do they not have anything I went for (even something as simple as a pick guard or strings, for crying out loud) but they look at you with this glaring looking in their eye, are surly and monosyllabic when ask if know when they'll get whatever it is in stock. In short, they make it plain they don't want you there. Which leads you to wonder what their real business is. read more
